У роботі досліджується фрактальна розмірність резистентних та чутливих до дії доксорубіцину клітин раку молочної залози, експонованих у магнітному полі. Виявлено, що резистентні та чутливі до дії доксорубіцину клітини раку молочної залози лінії MCF мають різне значення фрактальної розмірності. Таким чином, головна мета цього дослідження полягає в перевірці можливості використання фрактальної розмірності як маркеру для визначення чутливості до дії доксорубіцину клітин раку молочної залози лінії MCF, експонованих у магнітному полі.

Prebiotics, probiotics and synbiotics are components that enhance human health by several mechanisms. Patients suffering from type II diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and colorectal cancer have seen benefits when treated with a prebiotic, probiotic or synbiotic therapy. These benefits include the improvement of their lipid profile, oxidative stress status, as well as the modulation of the inflammatory and immune responses. The associated benefits of prebiotic, probiotic or synbiotic functional foods have been studied, showing promising results into the prevention or control of diabetes and colorectal cancer. This novelty research provides new evidence that the use of functional foods along with medical therapy could be used to further enhance patient's health.

Background: Mechanisms of action and optimal doses have not yet been determined for the immunomodulator Del-Immune V ® , a supplement containing dry fermented cell lysate and DNA fragments of the probiotic strain Lactobacillus rhamnosus V (DV Strain). Objective: To study the mechanisms of Del-Immune V ® immunomodulation and to investigate dose-dependent effects on immunoregulatory cytokines production in vivo and in vitro. Design: One hundred forty inbred laboratory mice with body masses ranging from 14-16 grams were divided into 7 test groups. Groups I, II, and III received 0.5 ml of aqueous solution of Del-Immune V ® by mouth in doses of 5, 50, and 500 µg per mouse, respectively, for 5 days at 24-hour intervals. Group IV mice received 0.5 ml Bifidim suspension by mouth in a dose of 50 µg/mouse on the same schedule. Group V mice (control group) received 0.15 M NaCl. Group VI and VII mice received a single dose of 50 µg/mouse Del-Immune V ® (Group VI) or Bifidim (Group VII) on day 1 of the test period. Eight hours after administration and every 24 hours thereafter for 5 days, blood serum, peritoneal exudate macrophages, and splenocytes were obtained from each group for testing. Interferonogenous activity of cultured splenocytes and serum levels of interferon were assessed. Results: Groups I-IV showed a marked increase of IFN levels in blood serum after administration of Del-Immune V ® or Bifidim; the optimal daily dose was found to be 50 µg/mouse. The highest serum IFN level was reported 24 hours after administration. The control group remained unchanged. Maintenance of elevated circulating IFN was possible only through repeated administration. Conclusions: In this study, a 50 µg/mouse dose of Del-Immune V ® was shown to actively induce IFN and moderately stimulate the production of TNF, showing significant promise as an immunomodulating preparation.

The evidence in this paper indicates that the alarming increase of common allergies can be reduced by the intake of particular "probiotics" or "paraprobiotics" along with food. This appears to build a consensus in the pharmaceutical and food communities about the role of probiotics in the prevention and treatments of common allergies. Food allergy is one of the common allergies, defined as an adverse health effect arising from a specific immune response that occurs reproducibly on exposure to a given food. Improving the digestion of foods and maintaining a healthy gastrointestinal (GI) tract is certainly critical to controlling food allergens. Therefore, the association between a leaky gut or an impaired intestinal permeability and food-allergenic reactions is explained. Gluten has been found to be somehow a justification for protein allergy, and should, therefore, be avoided by people with celiac disease. In several, in vitro models, surface layer (Slayer) proteins of selective paraprobiotics have shown potential in alleviating food allergies and intestinal disorders. Notably, lactobacilli paraprobiotics have proven to be the immediate immunomodulators against common allergies and other diseases, including viral (flu, hepatitis C), bacterial (bronchitis), asthma, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, gastrointestinal distress, and autism disorders in humans.

Important current diseases manifest to cover metabolic diseases, respiratory allergies, gastrointestinal (GI) diseases, genital infections, certain neurological disorders, autoimmune disorders, and musculoskeletal pain and fatigue. Patients with these diseases have been known to respond favorably to a treatment method of increasing dosages of composite selective probiotics, (probiotics and paraprobiotics) and probiotical cell fragments (PCFs) supplements. PCFs such as of lactobacilli and bifidobacteria benefit the GI system and have shown substantial local immune enhancing benefits. These treatment methods have demonstrated positive results in 85.5% of cases of chronic tonsillitis and 90% in maxilloethmoidal sinusitis. Consistent amounts of probiotics have been quantified for therapeutic microbial activities on a broad spectrum of pathogenic Candida species in otolaryngology and genital organs, respectively. The combined effects of this article enable selective probiotics and their derivatives as valuable tools for clinical employment in the prevention and adjunctive treatment of significant current diseases.

The article presents the developed anaerobic-aerobic wastewater treatment technologies. These technologies aimed at removing the organic matter, nitrogen and phosphorus by means of microorganisms immobilized on fibrous carrier surfaces. The results of the laboratory research show the high efficiency of milk wastewater treatment. The following degrees of reduction were achieved for the pollutant indicators: COD-86.7-93 %, total nitrogen-96.9-97.9 %. Compared to the traditional treatment technologies applied in Ukraine, these values are high. The concentration of organic matters and biomass of not attached bacteria decreased in bioreactor chambers. When the purification process ends, a small amount of excess biomass remains; therefore, its self-oxidation and self-regulation occurs as a result of consumption by the organisms occupying higher levels of trophic chains. The use of anaerobic-aerobic bioreactors system for the treatment of wastewater enables achieving high outflow quality and prevents the suspended substances from slipping. Immobilization of microorganisms on the first stage of the technology prevents the formation of big amount of excessive sludge and removes biomass from the bioreactor, which allows the technology even for the heavily polluted wastewater. In reactors containing immobilized microorganisms, the organic matter compounds used in subsequent reactors for phosphate accumulation are split. The presented biotechnology saves electric energy, provides sufficient quality of treatment, and ensure the compliance of treated wastewater with the effluent standards.

При очищенні нафти та виробництві мастил з використанням сірчаної кислоти утворюються токсичні відходи – кислі гудрони. Ці відходи зливають і зберігають в спеціальних ставках – земляних накопичувачах штучного і природнього походження на відкритому повітрі.
