According to the Director of the European Institute for Migration and Social Inclusion IEM, Rodolfo Valentino, his verdict would be devastating, because the image that "The United Planets of Humanoid Galaxies" receive from us is cruel and negative. In his opinion, we are still in the "homo mediocris" phase. There are some that have developed, but compared to the widespread ignorance, stupidity, mediocrity, social incompetence, barbarism, cruelty and actual self-destructive potential of most humans, they claim they can do nothing for us. Von einer nivellierten Mittelstandsgesellschaft sprach der deutsche Soziologe Helmut Schelsky zum... more Von einer nivellierten Mittelstandsgesellschaft sprach der deutsche Soziologe Helmut Schelsky zum ersten Mal im Jahre 1953, die dadurch zustande komme, dass in industriell-bürokratischen Gesellschaften die Aufstiegsprozesse der Unterschicht sich mit den Abstiegsprozessen der oberen Mittel- und Oberschicht auf der Ebene der unteren Mittelschicht kreuzen. Dies führe zu einer verhältnismäßig einheitlichen kleinbürgerlich-mittelständischen Gesellschaft. (Braun 1989) Seit den 1970er Jahren ist dieses Konzept in ökonomischer Hinsicht von der Zwei-Drittel-Gesellschaft abgelöst worden. Die nivellierten utopischen Einstellungs- und Meinungsstrukturen einer „kapitalistischen Gleichheitsgesellschaft“, nach denen das einzelne Individuum in den westlichen Demokratien durch Arbeit und Fleiß zu dem werden kann, was es sein will, halten sich jedoch vehement. Zusammen mit der v.a. in Deutschland weit verbreiteten Mittelstandsideologie (Puffertheorie), nach der die Bedeutung des Mittelstands für das soziale, ökonomische und politische Gleichgewicht in einer Gesellschaft als überaus wichtig erachtet wird, entsteht die Basis für einen neuen empirischen und theoretischen Ansatz innerhalb der Soziologie: das Modell des systemzentrierten, ichbezogenen (auch bezogen auf die eigene Familie, Sozialgruppe, ethnische Gruppe, etc.) und sozial inkompetenten „homo mediocris“.

On the one hand, it makes use of the information and communication society and, on the other hand, it has adapted itself to the new pluralization and complexity of modern societies. In deutschsprachigen Ländern wie Österreich und Deutschland läuft die Debatte zurzeit. Österreich will bald verbieten, dass Mädchen unter 14 Jahren in der Öffentlichkeit ein Kopftuch tragen. Auch die nordrhein-westfälische Landesregierung denkt über ein Kopftuchverbot für Mädchen nach. Pädagogen und liberale Muslime begrüßten den Vorstoß von Integrationsminister Joachim Stamp (FDP). Es gibt aber auch Kritik von Juristen und Politikern, die die Rechtmäßigkeit eines Verbots anzweifeln und stattdessen mehr pädagogische Aufklärung fordern. In einem Interview mit dem Direktor des Europäischen Instituts IEM, Rodolfo Valentino, versuchen wir dem komplexen Thema "auf die Spur zu kommen".....

El clasismo y el proteccionismo social han sido suficientemente estudiados como fenómenos sociale... more El clasismo y el proteccionismo social han sido suficientemente estudiados como fenómenos sociales por sociólogos. A la pregunta de cómo los miembros de una supuesta misma "clase", "un ambiente social" o "estilo de vida" común "se huelen" entre sí o se identifican, responderían el sociólogo alemán Norbert Elias y su colega francés Pierre Bourdieu: muy simple, a través del "Habitus Social". Elias lo define como hábitos comunes en el pensamiento, los sentimientos y las acciones de miembros de una misma figuración (una red de dependencia debido a la convicción de una supuesta pertenencia y solidaridad social), que conduce directamente a una "personalidad social" parecida o idéntica. Bourdieu entra más en „detalles plásticos" y define el "habitus" como la persona en su totalidad: su apariencia, su estilo de vida, su lenguaje (código), ropa y gusto. Así que el habitus se convierte en un defecto inmutable que activa conscientemente o inconscientemente las estrategias "racistas" o "clasistas" de un "proteccionismo social" para defender los intereses de la supuesta propia "clase". Estamos ante un dilema social que se ve reforzado por el hecho de que los errores o comportamientos desviados se convierten rápidamente en un estigma social, que prácticamente ya no se puede quitar.
