Nadeem Haque
Nadeem Haque is a Philosopher of Science and Belief Systems and author of numerous books and articles that focus on 'Reality Studies'. He is a researcher and author/writer on numerous interrelated areas that connect with Islam. He is also the author of eight books and one other soon to be published book, and numerous peer-reviewed articles (total of around 40 articles/papers).
His work has focused on six main areas: Animal Rights and
Environment/Ecology; the origins and nature of consciousness; the
unification of physics; macro-evolution and History/History of Science
('Pre-Ancient', Ancient and the Middle Ages) and Extraterrestrial
Life/Extrasolar planets and the Quran. In each of these areas he has tried to bridge the science and religion gap with new models and discoveries from the Quran. His books are: The From Microbits to Everything series (Volume 1
(A New Unified View of Physics and Cosmology), Volume 2 (Universe of the
Imaginator) and Volume 3 (Beyond Creationism and Darwinism)); From Facts to Values: Certainty, Order, Balance and their Universal Implications; and
philosophical fiction: Search for the Questions to the Answer of Life; Truth
in Time and Escape from Sirius: The Doomsday Protocol, the latter in the
extremely rare genre of Islamic sci-fi. He has also written a short story collection: The Highlight Zone.
Nadeem was the co-founder of the King's
College Islamic Society at the University of London (in 1985), and is also one of the founders of the Institute of Higher Reasoning (IHR) which is an
educational, research and think tank organization. He is the grandson
of the late Al- Hafiz B.A. Masri, who is internationally known as the
pioneer of Animals and Islam theological research and an ardent animal
welfare activist.
Nadeem and his colleagues (ANALYS) were instrumental in holding the lectures on Embryology and the Quran (Keith Moore, Marshall Johnson and Persaud) at the University of Toronto in the late 1980s and of their friend and colleague Gary Miller and he has in-depth - international expertise - knowledge of the Quran and Science. From these lectures, worldwide knowledge of rationality and the correspondence between the Quran and Science became more well-known.
Besides his academic/research work and interests, Mr. Haque is a registered
professional engineer (asset management, civil/structural and environmental) in Ontario, with a degree from King's College London in Civil Engineering and a degree in Economics from the University of Toronto.
As stated above, he is one of the founders and directors of IHR whose mandate is as follows:
INSTITUTE OF HIGHER REASONING (IHR): Our Mandate
It is the purpose of the IHR to engage in literary, scientific and research works in both the arts and sciences that lead to a greater awareness of our real purpose of existence in this universe as sentient beings. Tragically, in present day societies throughout our planet, people have reacted against many religions that do not appear to possess answers and ask one to accept irrational ideas based on blind faith. In connection with this, is the idea of ‘God’. Among those who are self-proclaimed ‘atheists’ this disaffection with ‘God’ has been the result of reacting against anthropomorphic, irrational or ridiculous conceptions of God. This reactionary “Godless” state, has led to the breakdown of societies, families and individuals, and the emergence of semi-barbarism, relativism, nihilism and racism, in a so-called civilized world that continues to destroy the earth and the innocents. We have established economic, political, social and scientific theories that leave out an intelligent and proof-based view of the Creator and hence are either erroneous, inconsistent or incomplete. These systems, expostulated by ‘experts’, rather than solving our problems, are exacerbating them.
As a vital remedy then, the IHR then has a twofold aim: firstly, to publish works of high academic research at the frontiers of various fields and secondly to impart such knowledge to those who passionately seek it. To that end, we are and plan to be engaged in presenting structured and in-depth online and offline seminars, lectures, workshops, interviews, book and journal publications and produce other types of media related material. As such, IHR is a think tank and research institution, that seeks to integrally harmonize the scientific, economic, social and the environmental, under the rubric of rationality and evidence, as the foundation of our ethical, spiritual and emotional being, awareness, purpose and direction.
We hope that you, the reader, researcher, student or thinker, will explore, participate and share your thoughts with us, in our quest towards Reason and Tranquility -- to set things aright as they were Created to be.
