Ahmed Hosney Radwan – Egypt, currently dean of Arts and Design Faculty, ElSewedy university of technology, he was The Vice dean Of Faculty of Fine Arts - Helwan University for Postgraduate Studies and researches during ‘22-‘24, Originally he is Professor of Architecture & Urban Design, at the Architecture Department of faculty of Fine Arts, Helwan University.
Since 2008, He has been working as an Adjunct Professor of Architecture & Urban Design at the AUC School of sciences and engineering.
He was Graduated and achieved his MA & Ph.D. of Architecture from the Faculty of Fine Arts Architecture Department, Helwan University, his Ph.D. thesis titled 'Participatory design towards the development of Egyptian village architecture'. His Ph.D. study, His research projects were mainly concerned with rural development in Egypt, community participation in housing design, and planning.
After Attending Four Regional Training sessions in Pakistan, two international training sessions in Mexico and UK, and a midterm training Session in the Asian Institute of Technology AIT, Bangkok, Thailand he was graduated in April 2004 from the Imperial College of London, Wye, Kent, United Kingdom as a LEAD Fellow of the tenth Cohort, he is also a licensed NLP practitioner since 2015.
Dr. Radwan is the founder and partner of Integrated Design & Consulting Center IDCC since1994, He is an International Associate Member of the American Institute of Architects AIA, Architecture Consultant - Egyptian Syndicate of Engineers, he has a Vast Professional Experience as an Architecture Consultant in Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia and many other countries in the MENA Region, working on different scales of Projects, from Residential, Commercial, office buildings, Mixed-use Building till urban Design & Landscape, Besides Participation in many National, Regional & International Architectural & Urban Design Competitions.
His area of research covers Architecture & Arts, urban design & Upgrading, Smart Cities, intelligent transportation systems, healthy cities, Cargotecture, mediatecture, smart facades, Sustainable design, Community participation. Recently His research work is focusing on Urban Public Spaces from different aspects and on different levels. He participated in many national, regional and international conferences and workshops, published many research papers in National & International journals & Conferences & Workshops, in addition to supervising & Jurying many Ph.D. & Master theses, in Egyptian Universities (Helwan University, Mansoura University & Ain Shams University) & German Universities (Cottbus & Stuttgart) in the fields of Architecture, Urban Design, Heritage Conservation, Smart Buildings, Responsive Architecture, Green Roofs, and others.
Dr. Radwan currently is a reviewer & Scientific Committee Member of some National & international conferences, Workshops & Journals, He is Also an Academic Evaluator of German Egyptian Research Short-term Scholarship Program GERSS- DAAD German Academic Exchange Service.
In the Area of International Academic Collaborations, He is currently a member of the Internationalization Committee at Faculty of Fine Arts Architecture Department, and a Member of the International Relations office of Helwan University, representing the Faculty of Fine Arts. Street furniture is defined as all the setups that are found on the streets that serve many funct... more Street furniture is defined as all the setups that are found on the streets that serve many functions related to the usage of the streets in many ways whether directly or indirectly, and that lead to a better usage of the streets as an urban space been used by people, and with these setups, the streets are not only passages of movement, but also living spaces that contains and improves people’s lives and human activities, and with the lack of street furniture designs, these setups are considered as barriers and obstacles in the streets that may affect negatively, the functions been performed in the streets.<br><br>This paper is an attempt to shed light on the importance of street furniture design in the urban setup of the city, and how the integration between street furniture and urban art may affect the city image, leading to a better efficiency of using streets not only on a functional level, but also on a more human level.

The aim of this paper is to explore &amp; analyze the various impacts of using social media in Architecture &amp; Urban Planning education, providing that social media can act as a very powerful tool which if used efficiently can create a major change in the learning tools that are applied in architecture schools, taking into consideration the very high level of exposure and interaction that social medial introduced especially in the last decade, the research is based on a hypothesis that assumes that social media generically can provide a better tool of architecture education, the methodology applied in this paper will be a literature review about the social media background, then analysis of some of the effective social media tools especially in architecture schools, cons and pros of using social media, then a survey will be made among Professors &amp; students of some architecture schools to explore the impact of using social media on the education processes, the paper will end with some conclusions and recommendations that might be used as a guideline of integrating suitable social media tools in architecture education.

The demand for smart housing units and the advanced technological applications that can provide support and assistance under the umbrella of smart grids is on the increase for all types of housing schemes including low-income housing projects and the high-end luxury housing market. For the former, energy efficiency is usually driven by the availability of smart energy systems that raise the economic efficiency of projects. At present, the use of smart systems in housing is limited to security and entertainment related applications, hence this research discusses its application to different aspects of daily life and how will they benefit from the system in a way that can allow smart grids be integrated into different housing projects to enhance and modernize them. This paper is an attempt to investigate the role of smart grids in housing projects in Egypt. The introductory section sets the definition of the smart grid system(s), covering their fundamentals, importance and characteristics of such systems and those of smart homes. The coverage extends to their applications and feasibility through a series of case studies from around the world. This is followed by a discussion of the findings that concludes with some recommendations pointing out the way to energy efficiency in urban areas, which can be achieved by using the smart grid applications whether these applications are commercially available at the market or through small start-ups.

Green roofs as an idea could be easily applied, considering the suitable climatic conditions in Egypt among the whole year, this paper is an attempt to explore the idea of green roofs, and its applications in Egypt putting in consideration the huge available roof areas on public or private scale(s), and how these neglected resources could help in making the city healthier through the applications of green roofs, it also shed the light on different applications of green roofs on both scales, urban scale, and buildings' scale. The case of Cairo is suitable for this study, since thousands of buildings do have large roof areas, that are totally accessible, these areas in itself is a an important resource that can be incorporated within the urban fabric, supplying the city with many thousands of square meters of green areas, social spaces and living spaces in a city that vitally still misses a lot of areas with such specifications, networks could be established to link rooftops of some buildings in Cairo, applying green roofs concept may lead to a more healthier city that lacks a lot of green areas.

Previous Researches mentioned that people motion within empty or inactive areas seems to be quicker, in contrast to slower motion patterns within livelier, and more dynamic urban areas. Human-scale areas might have more positive impacts on people’s interaction(s) with public spaces: they feel that they were considered in the planning process of that space. (Pacheco, 2017), an important question arises there which is the notion of the human scale in a public space and how could it be described as human or not, whether it’s all about the physical aspect of scale or else aspects. (Sacks,2017). Creating a human scale environment can simply be defined as ensuring that whatever settings that people interact with daily are suitable to an average person to deal with & use easily in terms of size and shape. (Burke,2016). Meanwhile having in what so-called non-human scale could mean that a city – or an urban area- becomes an ugly place for people to interact with as said by Executive Director of the UN-HABITAT at the Habitat III Conference’16. it would be said that more than being ugly, the absence of good public spaces, such as parks, public buildings & open spaces, might lead also to cities with low livability levels in many of the world's congested and highly polluted countries. in SDG 11, the importance of the issue received recognition, that calls for the providing by 2030 “universal access to inclusive, accessible and safe, public spaces and green, mainly for children elderlies, women, older persons, and persons with special needs�?.(Jia,2016). Although this doesn’t cover all means people interact with a city, yet the term “human scale�? is used to distinguish between the way a city is accessed by pedestrians and the other way a city is viewed from a Car window. While both means involve people, the term “human scale�? refers to pedestrians, thus leading to another companion term: auto-motive scale. (Burke,2016). International experiences show that opening up underutilized areas in an urban setting to a variety of functions can lead to an enhanced social consideration, social blending, public investment, entertainment, well being, and a feeling of having a place, at last adding to urban success. This paper is an attempt to understand the relationship between public spaces and its users. It explores various definitions of Human scale with further understanding to its notion beyond the physical level, studying some urban open spaces in new Cairo settlement, demonstrating a mechanism of systematic assessment of such spaces based on the previous studies. The paper places emphasis on key findings by conveying similarities and differences between the spaces in terms of assessment outcomes and users’ perception, while revealing their qualities. Conclusions are offered as reflections on the findings.

Psychological influence, communication, information, and effects on the psyche are aspects of our perceptual judgment processes. Hence, the goals of color design in an architectural space are not relegated to decoration alone (Mahnke, 2015). This paper aims to study the color as a human nature that has been related to the built-in Environment, and how color as a human activity, is important to the level of being a need, not only to achieve some decorative or aesthetical values, but also to fulfill some needs of the human being that they cannot live without, starting from studying color in natural environment till color as an important component of Man-made environment represented in architectural and urban contexts, this paper also questions the importance of color in humans life, and how it is related and important to many vital activities of the human being, not only as a fashion or an architects Design for a specific building or an urban planner setup.

It's necessary to enable integration between the building and the surrounding environment. So, Responsiveness in architecture is one of the attributes that you can apply. Studies have shown that the biggest reason for this, billions of people will live in cities especially in Asia and Africa, and most cities are not ready for this massive growth, it's hard to show buildings and more damage to the environment, cause our cities to emit 80% of greenhouse gases industry, transportation and Mobility. So, it should use natural resources to reduce energy consumption that seeks sustainable building design. Cities are not only the hotels, but it's placed to live in order to influence and improve their characteristics. This study is a part of a thesis titled "Analytical study of responsive architecture and smart materials and their impact on environmental design" and it aims to understand and multiple forms of architectural response such as a kinetic facades or human interface with the building to generate energy or use local building materials which reduce energy consumption and resources .We have to work on the future cities to achieve livability and responsiveness it's become first for a smart , So it's important to know the architecture information and Knowledge. This paper aims to know how to reduce energy consumption in buildings according to use a responsive system in architecture to achieve this and improve the efficiency and thermal performance of buildings.

The aim of this paper is to study the importance of urban street art as an integral component of ... more The aim of this paper is to study the importance of urban street art as an integral component of the city image, rather than being just defined or limited to wall graffiti, it has been extended to contain other forms of arts, compositions, sculptures, and various forms of mural arts, that were applied and integrated an applied on building walls, streets, landscape, fences, street furniture, and many other components of the built-in environment, these various forms of urban street arts represents different values of the society, and reflects various waves of development in political, cultural and socioeconomic contexts. while urban street art is considered as a direct reflection of many changes that happens to a community, as the people try to express their impressions, views, anger, etc. in different forms, using street art as a documentation for such movements, and dynamics that happens, whether on the walls of buildings, railway/metro fences, underground stations, and other urban forms as mentioned above. Thus leading to a change in the built in environment features, sometimes positively by adding a more living sense & aesthetic value to it, and sometimes negatively by adding some drawings or writings that only express the feel of anger for example with no recognized aesthetic value, and a third extreme possibility of vandalism. This type of art was always relevant to a certain level of democracy, and political systems that can accept such way(s) of expressions, and in a context that creates art, appreciates arts in general, and use it in expression. While the case was different in other countries, where art wasn't that important value, and where the political systems deprived people from expressing their views even in the most traditional ways, being involved also in an endless cycle of socioeconomic complicated problems, especially in the developing countries, and the image was clearer in the under developed countries. in other words, this means that such type of art was developed in already developed countries, where urban contexts, and architecture were already well established, settled, organized, and all the channels of expression are maturely used by the communities. How this type of art represents the peoples' culture, values, and the country's political & economic positions are the different questions this paper is targeting to find the suitable answer, in addition to how it was integrated with the built in environment represented in architecture and urban contexts and adding a living sense to them.

Smart urban public Spaces are spaces that use technology to assist and help the usage of urban public spaces, while Smart urban public spaces are supposed to meet today&#39;s trends of technology and architecture, It also affects the social, cultural, economic and ecological level of the community. Smart Urban Public spaces have experienced a change in their meaning \&amp; Function in the age of technological interconnectedness. Due to the development of smart and networked technologies and services, new opportunities have become available for city dwellers. This continuous evaluation can serve as a basis for the further development of the smart networking of public spaces, to meet the needs of the city dwellers and to increase the attractiveness of such urban public spaces. Quality of life is a concept that has received wide attention from researchers in various fields.... more Quality of life is a concept that has received wide attention from
researchers in various fields. And Quality of urban life is the part that
describing the influential relationship between the built environment and
personal life.
This research focuses on two issues: the quality of urban life, as it is one of
the international new issues which focuses on two types of assessments: (a) the objective assessments in which evaluates the built environment that surround the person and (b) the individuals’ subjective assessment on their level of quality of life. The other issue is the importance of considering the concept of QOUL when designing urban communities in Cairo and dealing with unsafe and unplanned areas.
The research states a way to link the two issues to each other, by (a) forming a database theory of QOUL indicators and outline its role in the development process, and (b) studying the Egyptian vision 2050, and (c) deriving a methodology in which we depend on QOUL Indicators as an approach to develop new communities and improve unsafe and unplanned areas. so, to form a more in-depth and comprehensive approach to deal with the challenges that meet architects, urban planners, and developers when solving the housing problems in Cairo.

وبعد أن أصبح من السهل تحليل الأشكال والكتل الطبولوجية رياضياً ، ظهرت العديد من الأفكار الجديدة التي تطوع الأسطح الغير منتظمة Nurbs لتساعد علي تكوين أفكار تصميمة فريدة و دائما وأبداً سيظل المصممين في حالة من البحث الدائم والشغف إلى استكشاف أشكال وهيئات جديدة باستخدام الخوارزميات التوليدية Generative Algorithm.
إنه من المفهوم ان بناء العمارة الحرة عبر العصور كان مكلفا نوعا ما و كان يتم عملها لغرض إنشاء البنايات الأيقونية المميزة و قد ظهرت الحاجة القوية إلي تبني منهجية و أداة تصميم تجعل من تصميم و بناء هذا النوع من المباني ذات الأشكال الحرة الفريدة و تعديل هذه المباني أمرا سلسا و موفرا للوقت و الجهد المبذول ومن خلال توضيح أهمية دور تكنولوجيا المعلومات علي عملية التصميم ، فإن هذا الدور لم يتوقف عند العملية التصميمية ، بل استمر إلي عملية الإنتاج والتصنيع الرقمي.
