The life that people show on social media is usually a careful selection of concrete experiences, which take the form of photographs, videos and/or sweet little texts. It's a sort of idealized life narrative, where the user highlights the most attractive aspects of their life story. However, online profiles lack context and what is shown does not always correspond to the reality of the people behind them. Our aim is to reflect, from a creative perspective, on the possible lives - real and fictional - of those who inhabit the internet. For this, we will discuss artistic proposals that highlight them and that use networks as a means of creation. We have chosen four artworks from which we have identified different aspects: Excellences & Perfections - Amalia Ulman (fictional narrative), Intimidad Romero- Intimidad Romero (disidentification), Born Nowhere - Laís Pontes (multiple identities), Luther Blissett - César Escudero Andaluz (multiple anonymity).

In recent years, with the exponential rise in the use of the internet and social media, we have quickly learned to operate our digital devices and, with it, to understand the possibilities they offer us. In addition, we have gradually become accustomed to discerning fake usernames, identifying phishing, spam texts and other similar types of fraud. However, the same is not true of images circulating in virtual space. Nowadays it is extremely easy to manipulate a person's image through filters and applications that alter their features. It is very easy to assume that an unknown face can be real. Today, when we go online, we are immersed in an invisible sea of bots and intelligent learning algorithms capable, among other things, of generating synthetic images of people who do not exist; images of people who, on the other hand, are increasingly perfect and plausible, which makes the fake difficult to detect. Our goal is to reflect, from a creative perspective, on the ease with which fake identities can be created through artificial intelligence (AI). To this end, we will discuss several artists who use these tools as an artistic resource and projects that, from a critical stance, address this problem.

Art is a sieve through which all kinds of problems pass. The continuous crises that characterize this 21st century have taken the most diverse forms, among them the proliferation of images that spread rapidly through the Internet. In these difficult times, our goal is to explore the possibilities of art as a medium for communicating complex messages. The post-truth crisis, caused by the practice of the absence of analytical criteria and the automatic assimilation of assumptions that cannot be verified by reliable sources, has been triggered by the speed of online communication. In this context, we intend to contribute to reflect, with a globalized look, how digital devices condition the contemporary imaginary that circulates through social networks. To do so, we will support this article in the study of a selection of artistic projects that center their discourses around the phenomenon of Fake News that floods the networks.

We live in the 'age of access' (Rifkin, 2000), a new hyperconnected time, in which anyone with a digital device and the Internet has at its disposal an immeasurable and heterogeneous amount of information. However, the people who inhabit the virtual world have the need to attend to the communicational pressure exerted by social networks, forcing them to remain connected in multi-user mode to numerous channels in parallel. We are in an era in which it is no longer so important to 'own', but it is to 'taste' and 'live' the ephemeral moment on the net. Art, always in perpetual evolution and open to transformation, has undoubtedly been determined by contemporary technological advances. Since the emergence of Web 2.0, with the accelerated incursion of networks, society has experienced a revolutionary change in the way of relating and communicating and, likewise, the cybernetic evolution has permeated the artistic practices of the 21st century. This circumstance is evidenced by the increase of users in 'pseudo' open social platforms (after accepting certain conditions regarding data processing), such as Instagram or Tik Tok, and in others more specific to the creative field, such as Behance or Artstation. From this research, we intend to show how the artistic image has found a space within the digital medium where it can evolve, converge and mutate. A place where creation converges with the territories of new technologies and their social impact, such as collective intelligence or datification. To this end, we will analyze a series of artistic proposals that we will describe as counter-current, as they work against the guidelines imposed by the fashions of the moment, using the language and aesthetics of the networks to reverse, question or rethink their use. We will emphasize the possibilities offered by the screen and issues closely linked to the exposure of the user through it, such as the lack of privacy, the dissolution of identity, the substitutive use of bots or Artificial Intelligence. Thus, using art as a sensor, we will try to conclude what lies behind the studio images and reflect on how the ultimate art can act as a disruptive agent, interfering in the drifts of social networks, enhancing the vision of alternative ideas and boosting the viewer's critical gaze.

In our daily lives we live with rapid audio and image responses that are inaccurate, incorrect, imperfect and unreliable. Here we look at the situations that operate in contemporary unpredictability with the biases given to automated translations by Artificial Intelligence, especially with regard to gender.  This discussion results in the work "Sesgos y traducción automática" (2023), an artistic project developed by artists Helena Hernández Acuaviva and Agda Carvalho, which is part of the ASTER Research Project (University of Seville). Its aim is to show the gender biases that exist in automatic translations and image and sound manipulation. This reflection focuses on the interference of algorithms in our daily decisions, since they inhabit the networks and help us access diverse information.

Atualmente, muitos criadores contemporâneos utilizam a internet e as redes sociais como um canal de expressão e um meio de criação em si. Nosso objetivo é refletir sobre a maneira como a arte mais recente se adapta ao meio digital, mostrando, a partir de uma abordagem plástica, como esse canal de comunicação oferece possibilidades de compartilhamento e interação essenciais para as propostas que são gestadas no contexto on-line. Basearemos nossa análise no estudo de uma seleção de artistas contemporâneos cujo discurso tem um marcado viés ativista e cujos projetos artísticos giram em torno do fenômeno da censura na rede, falando sobre os problemas do meio a partir do próprio meio. Para isso, partiremos temporalmente do momento em que surge a Web 2.0, concentrando-nos em casos significativos em que a prática artística e o hacktivismo criativo atuam como um trampolim contra a censura. Assim, observaremos como os artistas enfrentam grandes corporações -como Facebook, Google, Amazon ou eBay- e governos totalitários -como o chinês ou o cubano-. Em suma, nosso objetivo é refletir sobre a condição do olhar globalizado vinculado aos dispositivos digitais e os limites da liberdade de expressão no mundo virtual a partir da perspectiva do pensamento artivista.

Resumo No nosso cotidiano convivemos com respostas rápidas de áudio e imagem que são imprecisas, incorretas, imperfeitas e não confiáveis. Observamos aqui as situações que operam na imprevisibilidade contemporânea com os vieses dados em traduções automatizadas pela Inteligência Artificial, principalmente no que se refere a gênero. Esta discussão resulta na obra "Sesgos y traducción automática" (2023), projeto artístico desenvolvido pelas artistas Helena Hernández Acuaviva e Agda Carvalho, que faz parte do Projeto de Pesquisa ASTER (Universidade de Sevilha). Seu objetivo é mostrar os vieses de gênero que existem nas traduções automáticas e na manipulação de imagem e som. Essa reflexão tem como foco observar a interferência dos algoritmos em nossas decisões cotidianas, pois eles habitam as redes e nos ajudam a acessar informações diversas.

aresvisuals.net) en el año 2016 es una loable iniciativa, pionera en España, que surge a raíz de la reflexión en torno a la importancia del almacenaje, la catalogación, la conservación y difusión de obras de arte realizadas utilizando como soporte el video digital y analógico, un medio muy presente en nuestra cotidianidad. Se trata de un repositorio universitario en línea y de acceso gratuito dedicado al videoarte -un medio vivo en continua evolución-, que contribuye al conocimiento sobre asuntos de especial relevancia en la actualidad artística: la estética de las tecnologías audiovisuales, la teoría crítica y los estudios visuales dentro del ámbito del videoarte expandido español. Em nossos dias, com o aumento do uso de dispositivos móveis, o senso de contemplação e a pausa diante das imagens foram prejudicados. Em um mundo onde a superabundância de informações ameaça ofuscar o sentido do tato, a capacidade de atenção e o processo na arte, o objetivo deste texto é expor como a cerâmica surge como um ato de resistência. Sua prática, sendo física e material, convida a uma pausa, criando um momento e um lugar de descanso; uma alternativa ao onipresente espetáculo visual. Ao longo do artigo, discutiremos como essa arte tradicional, que pode consumir muito tempo para ser feita, também nos ajuda a parar e meditar sobre a sociedade frenética em que vivemos. Para isso, nos baseamos nas reflexões de pensadores como Byung-Chul Han e Zygmunt Bauman , entre outros, exibindo uma série de obras autorais que exemplificam de forma criativa o assunto tratado. Assim, pretendemos refletir sobre as possibilidades oferecidas pela cerâmica como uma proposta meditativa e artística para o mundo que habitamos, hoje condicionado por um olhar ligado aos dispositivos digitais.

This paper analyses how rituals and symbols have been used as an element in the performatic creation. Nowadays, old rituals have evolved, moving on from the sacred to the profane, and losing large part of their ancestral meaning. Globalisation and mass media have played an important role in this process, modifying the situation of the people who participates in the rites and depriving them from their old meaning to transform them in a mere spectacle. We propose two examples: Antonin Artaud's "Theatre of Cruelty" and Viennese Actionism, which takes elements from the latter.
Alongside them we make a reference to other performatic manifestations that likewise make use of rituals and symbols to create a new and groundbreaking manifestation.

Entre lo sagrado y lo profano
Resumen
Este artículo analiza cómo los rituales y símbolos se han utilizado como elemento en la creación per-formática. Hoy en día, los antiguos rituales han evolucionado, pasando de lo sagrado a lo profano, perdiendo gran parte de su significado ancestral. La globalización y los medios de comunicación han jugado un papel importante en este proceso, modificando la situación de las personas que participan en los ritos y privándolas de su antiguo significado para transformarlas en un mero espectáculo. Pro-ponemos dos ejemplos: el "Teatro de la crueldad" de Antonin Artaud y el accionismo vienés, que toma elementos de este último. Junto a ellos hacemos referencia a otras manifestaciones performáticas que igualmente hacen uso de rituales y símbolos para crear una manifestación nueva y rompedora.

La historia de la humanidad está unida al ritual. Desde que las religiones fueron creadas, un gran número de ritos fueron concebidos, primero como una idea de comunidad, después con un acercamiento más individualista, al igual que comenzaron a abarcar muchos más aspectos de la vida. Quizá uno de los autores contemporáneos que mejor han expuesto este tema es Antonin Artaud, creador del llamado "teatro de la crueldad".

Corpus Litteralia Performance global y archivo documental Este libro parte de la constatación que las producciones artísticas y culturales poseen la indefectible condición de ser el futuro patrimonio artístico y cultural de nuestras sociedades. Un patrimonio artístico que atestigua los signos de una identidad, no sólo artística (individual del creador o colectiva de movimiento estético) sino también social y que, por ende, se configura como artefacto y documento de memoria individual, memoria social, memoria histórica y memoria cultural de un contexto determinado. Una memoria que muta de significados con el paso del tiempo. De otra parte, la praxis artística contemporánea se caracteriza, muchas de las veces, por su sincretismo medial y disciplinar, obras que se debaten entre las artes plásticas, visuales, sonoras, audio-visuales, performáticas, la poesía, la acción, el arte urbano, las prácticas colaborativas… Se trata pues, de analizar, debatir y reflexionar sobre cómo los archivos de los museos se ocupan de la clasificación, visibilidad y difusión del patrimonio artístico contemporáneo de estas características multimediales y multidisciplinarias en su calidad de espacio generador de memoria e identidad.

“Las cosas se hacen transparentes cuando abandonan cualquier negatividad, cuando se alisan y allanan, cuando se insertan sin resistencia en el torrente liso del capital, la comunicación y la información” (Han,
2013, p. 2). De esta manera, comienza Byung-Chul Han su libro La
sociedad de la transparencia. Si hay algo que define nuestro tiempo es,
sin lugar a duda, un exceso de transparencia del entorno privado debido
a una sobreexposición en las redes sociales. Para Lipovetsky, este sentimiento de seducción por la exposición continua no se debe únicamente a las redes sociales y a los medios de comunicación de masas,
sino también al aumento de la libertad del individuo postmoderno
(2000, p. 21). Siguiendo a este mismo autor, “el culto a la espontaneidad y la cultura psi691 estimula a ser ‘más’ uno mismo, a ‘sentir’, a analizarse, a liberarse de roles y ‘complejos’” (2000, pp. 21-22). Pero
¿hasta qué punto esta llamada “liberación” se produce por un fenómeno
de un autodescubrimiento, y no por la simple aceptación de roles y códigos establecidos por seres ajenos a nosotros que hemos posicionado
como referentes sociales?

¡Qué niebla envuelve la vida! Escucha todas las palabras que el hombre ha pronunciado desde el el día de su creación, y dirás: ¡Es Dios! Echa un vistazo a todas sus acciones , desde los primeros días, y exclamarás con repugnancia: ¡Es una bestia! Así, desde miles y miles de años el hombre lucha contra sí mismo; y su tristeza no tiene fin, y la angustia del espíritu prisionero es horrible y espantosa, y el último Juez tarda siempre en llegar... Pero no vendrá nunca, te lo digo yo: ¡siempre estaremos solos con nuestra vida, ¡oh, hombre!

The learning of the engraving should review the institutionalized schemes focused excessively on the process. It is necessary to provide a balanced mindware and hardware that equalize the intellectual and sensitive with the merely procedural and that fosters, above all, the essential capacity of the graphic to constitute itself as a work of art. In this way future engravers can apply their knowledge in an innovative way through rigor and creativity.
