New distributed computing architectures like edge computing have given advance to improve data analytics. Generally, the capacity of such devices, including smart meters, is quite limited, so the use of specialized auxiliary hardware has begun to be used in these devices. The present work shows the results of using a neural stick compute for forecasting and data classification processes within smart metering systems. The results show that the processing times can be remarkably improved with the use of stick computers having a suitable model for artificial neural networks.

Study of the User's Eye Tracking to Analyze the Blinking Behavior While Playing a Video Game to Identify Cognitive Load Levels

In this way the development of new products or technologies could include eye tracking as an objective way of obtaining feedback from users. This paper presents an experiment that compares the eye behavior of users' blinks during interaction with two different levels of difficulty in a video game. The results of the experiment show that the participants' blink rate per minute was significantly reduced, according to the state-of-the-art normal blink behavior, during the two tasks. However, it is also shown that there is no significant difference between the samples taken, which is attributable to the fact that interaction with video games, in any difficulty, represents high cognitive load.

One of its best-known applications is smart metering systems that allow real-time energy consumption/production to be known, as well as other benefits such as outages and reconnections automatically. The new generations of smart meters have more computing capacity allowing new applications. This work shows some considerations in the design of smart meters using human-computer interaction techniques. The results aim to improve the end-user’s experience and satisfaction and can help to mitigate the reluctance to use smart metering systems in Mexico.

This must to that Web sites have not been developed taking into account the characteristics and limitations of mobile devices. Thus for example, screen restrictions, low capacity of memory and storage, high costs of Internet connection and the deficient bandwidth; among others, they have restrained the visualization of Web sites through mobile devices. This work is tried to increase the visualization of Web sites on mobile devices improving the user's navigation experience, on the one hand, handling different formats from the resources and by another one, handling to a communications scheme more efficient for exchanging information, which with takes to diminish costs of accessing to the Web by airtime connection or by volume of information, given that the size of resources is diminished and the access time is made agile.

In this paper, Web content transcoding mechanism "on-the-flight" is presented. This mechanism works by means of a simple inclusion of a HTTP header named X-Transform, which describes a transcoding format command .This header is generated by a client-side Proxy named GAP, which runs on mobile devices with Windows CE operating system (Pocket PC, Smartphone, among others). The transcoding header is interpreted by a server-side Proxy named GAT MT, that converts Web documents to WML, XHTML-MP, PDF, plain text, PostScript, XML and HTML adapted for mobile devices, making use of XSL technologies (XSLT and XSL-FO).

This due because Web sites have not been developed taking into account the characteristics and constrains from these devices in view of making the Web resources more accessible. Thus for example, the screen-restrictions, the low capacity of memory and storage, the communications through no persistent connections, the high costs and the deficient bandwidth of connection, among others, these characteristics have restrained the visualization of Web sites through mobile devices. The present work tries “to put the Web in the users’ pockets”. In order to guarantee that the users can visualize correctly the Web resources, two things are needed: a mechanism that control disconnections and allow to visualize Web content without concerning the connection state of the device (hoarding), and a mechanism that adapts the Web content to the own chara...

In a research institution, classification on this type of papers is realized in a very superficial manner and the criteria for classifying documents depends on several people. This paper describes the work related to identify different sections of the paper, automatically classify and instantiate them in an ontology in order to perform inferences about them.

Some of them are not designed to directly manage contextual conditions in the semantic model and they use non-ontological resources to extract context information. Because of these issues, reusing those semantic models and to apply them to different organizations, domain or even to different type of items turns into a challenge. In this paper we present an Organizational Environment Ontology Network (OrEON), an extendable and reusable semantic model that is capable of describing multiple organizational environments integrating contextual aspects. This ontology network was built following the NeON Methodology and it is based on extracted concepts from organizational memories and it is enriched with international standards applied to organizational settings. To show the benefits of using OrEON in recommen...

We apply the combination of different techniques to determine a methodology that can be applied in the study of the characteristics of effectiveness, trust and satisfaction perceived by users using similar recommender systems.
