Hon. Anna H. Demacopoulos (Ret.) Rejoins JAMS in Chicago
Chicago – JAMS, the largest private provider of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services worldwide, is pleased to announce that Hon. Anna H. Demacopoulos (Ret.) has rejoined its panel. Judge Demacopoulos returns after serving as first assistant state’s attorney in the Cook County (Illinois) State’s Attorney’s Office from 2024 to 2025, where she led 700 attorneys and a total staff of 1,400.
Judge Demacopoulos advanced the State’s Attorney’s Office’s mission through organizational restructuring, the implementation of modern policies and protocols, and the creation of specialized units in forensics, financial crimes and sexual assault—all designed to modernize prosecution, enhance collaboration and restore faith and trust in the criminal justice system. Prior to this role, she worked at JAMS from 2023 to 2024, guiding parties through complex mediations and arbitrations.
Based in the Chicago Resolution Center , Judge Demacopoulos will serve as an arbitrator, mediator and court-appointed neutral, handling administrative law, real property, construction, class action and mass tort, civil rights, business and commercial, employment, insurance, trusts and securities disputes. She is available to conduct sessions in person, as well as virtually, for clients across the country.

Judge Demacopoulos served on the Circuit Court of Cook County from 2008 to 2023 in its Chancery and Criminal divisions. While in the Chancery Division, she handled a wide variety of matters, including class actions, confirmation of arbitration awards and Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests. During
her time in the Criminal Division, she handled a high-volume felony courtroom, presiding over bench and jury trials, including financial crimes, official misconduct cases, and complex, multijurisdictional RICO matters involving drug trafficking. As part of her distinguished career, she also served as an adjunct professor in trial advocacy for the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law for over 30 years.

Judge Demacopoulos earned her B.A. from Loyola University Chicago and her J.D. from the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law.
