Thirteenth-rankedSassari (8-18) gave a tough game to eighth ranked Openjobmetis Varese (12-14) on Sunday. Openjobmetis Varese managed to secure only one-point victory 91-90 . However their fans expected much easier game. Varese made 29-of-35 free shots (82.9 percent) during the game. Strangely Sassari outrebounded Varese 45-24 including a 28-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Nigerian point guard Ike Iroegbu (188-1995, college: WSU) who scored 29 points and 8 assists. Finnish forward Olivier Nkamhoua (203-2000, college: Michigan) chipped in 18 points and 5 rebounds. American guard Desure Buie (182-1997, college: Hofstra) produced 14 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists and Lithuanian Laurynas Beliauskas (194-1997) added 13 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests. Four Varese and five Sassari players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Varese maintains eighth position with 12-14 record. Sassari lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth place with 18 games lost. They share the position with Cantu.
