Table 2 The survey of the curricula of the B.Sc. Construction Technology and Management and the HND Building Technology programmes has revealed that site management courses are important in Building Technology education in Ghana. It also showed that site management courses offered under the B.Sc. Construction Technology and Management programme deal much with construction cost, quality, safety, security, construction resources planning and control etc. The knowledge requirements for site managers identified from the literature on the impact of construction activities on the environment (Table 2) is given little or no attention in current site management courses. Environmental impact of construction site activities is not taught as a separate course in the B.Sc. Construction Technology and Management curricula (Table 2). However, environmental impact of construction activities and site organization are topics taught under CTM 354 Post-Contract Planning and Control course in the second semester of the third year. Other environment-related topics taught in the fourth year are, health and safety in plant operation (under CTM 451 Plant Management), materials control, quality assurance, and purchasing (under CTM 455 Materials Management). Interview with the course lecturer revealed that protection of the natural vegetation is discussed under BT 251 Soils and Foundation Systems in the second year of the programme.
