This section senses the movement of objects and transfers that information to the gate control section and counter sections. The output of this section acts as input to the motor driver and assists in gate control mechanism.

This section provides the indication of vacant parking slot at any given time based on the parking slot availability. Identical circuits are placed in the each parking slot so that it indicates whether the car is present in that slot or not. The slot indicator section is based on 555timer working in monostable mode of operation. The second pin of the timer has a potential divider arrangement with an LDR connected between the supply and pin. The resistance of LDR changes according to ambient light conditions. When light falls on it, the resistance of LDR increases, thus a voltage drop occurs across it. As a result, when a negative trigger is applied to the second pin of the timer, clock pulses of time period, T= 1.1 RC is generated. Here. R=100KQ. and C=10 uF. the time period comes out to be 1.1s. Arfa Saleem | Introduction 23 Automated Barrier Control Car Parking System

Abstract: Automated barrier control car parking system is employed in parking-lot to resolve the growing parking problems, in developing countries. The car parking system is being proposed and designed for developing an intelligent automated and cheapcar parkingsystem which greatly reduces manpower, fuel consumption of the vehicle and road problems.Car parking is the major issue of this era in developing countries. With the growing vehicle population the need of efficient car parking system is required.In this proposed model, IR (infra-red) sensors are used in parking-lot which detects and monitors the arrival of the car and controls the occupation of the parking-lot. The LCD (liquid crystal display) is also deployed in the system, which shows the current car count in the parking-lot thus maintains the parking space. The system designed is able to detect a car and open the barrier, only, when the car parking is not full. The proposed system is cheap and easily implementable.

Parking Guidance and Authentication System

Abstract: There are two important problems related to the management of large parking areas, which are time for searching available lots and detecting unauthorized-parking vehicles. Nowadays, there are parking guidance systems that guide the drivers toward the available lots. As a result, the systems reduce the time for searching available lots. However, these systems do not solve the problem of unauthorized-parking vehicles. This paper presents a combination of parking guidance and authentication system that is capable to verify the legality of vehicles parked at authorized-parking lots. This system consists of detection and identification modules. In the detection module, wireless sensors such as ultrasonic and magnetometers have proven their ability in detecting vehicles. In identification module, nRF24L01 with controlling of data collision, tag address, and reception acknowledgement are used, which will act similar to an active RFID. Such system has significant implications for large institutions, by making the parking lots allocated to their staff available within the same customer parking area. The system will reduce the required manpower for managing parking areas.

Design and Development of Low Cost Automatic Parking Assistance System

Abstract: Parking cars is quite a challenge in congested parking bays and for inexperienced drivers. Automatic parking assistance systems (APAS) are limited to high-end cars in India. This paper discusses the design of APAS for Hyundai Santro and development of an automatic parking assistant system for a scaled down prototype model using a stepper motor mounted ultrasonic sensor to scan the obstacles. 3-point unequal rotating radius algorithm is used to identify parking path shifting points and parking trajectory. Path shifting control algorithm based on timing and distance traversed is developed using MPLAB IDE. A prototype is developed on a scaled down model of a vehicle and performance of the APAS system is verified. Accuracy of the system is ±10% which is acceptable for low cost solution developed. Repeatability of APAS is tested, which is ±15%. This can be improved with closed loop control in parking process. Cost of the developed system is reduced by more than 50% of the commercially available APAS systems. From the results, APAS system can be used in any small segment cars with little changes in logic. Path traversed can be used as feedback to further improve the accuracy of APAS system.
