4.1.8 BIM benefits The BIM development manager for company X mentioned that the most important benefit is that project participants are much more cooperative then before. In addition, the site manager also mentioned that with BIM they get better designs and more digital materials such as 3D and 4D models therefore, they are able to communicate digitally. Meanwhile, they have fewer design issues, mistakes and get easier communications and more collaboration with designers.
4.1.8 BIM benefits The BIM development manager for company X mentioned that the most important benefit is that project participants are much more cooperative then before. In addition, the site manager also mentioned that with BIM they get better designs and more digital materials such as 3D and 4D models therefore, they are able to communicate digitally. Meanwhile, they have fewer design issues, mistakes and get easier communications and more collaboration with designers.
The 3D model can be considered to be separated from the rest of the process by unknown wall as illustrated in the picture. In fact this is one of the disadvantages of traditional process and the applications because the model can only be used for outline proposal/conception and no other information linked to the model can be used to generate drawings and other documentations automatically that can be directly to the next phase of project for instance detailing design, estimations etc. Furthermore, the model is less important during the operation the building. Actually, most information about the location and direction within the building is displayed on a 2D drawing which can be difficult for end-users to read or understand.

The organisation will acquire new knowledge because working with BIM requires trainings for new competence and skills. Information technology such as software and hardware will change because BIM heavily dependent on technology and its very complex. Further working process will change from traditional separate entity working process to BIM integrated process and they will be a new support system for information processing such as database systems.
