Forty-eight phosphate solubilizing bacteria (PSB-1-PSB-48) isolated in terms of formation of halo zones on NBRIP-agar medium and change of the intensity of the colour of bromophenol blue of NBRIP-BPB broth medium. Out of the 48 bacterial isolates, PSB-26 showed the maximum halo zone (1.7cm) on NBRIP-agar medium as well as a maximum colour change of the bromophenol blue (1.188 O.D.) of The phosphate solubilizing ability of the strain increased from 0.0 pg/ml to 48 g/ml as the pH decreased from 7.0 to 3.2. The pH of the medium decreased steadily after 48h of incubation and increased again after 144h of incuba- tion. The maximum phosphate solubilization was observed at 144h of incubation with a maximum drop in pH (3.2) of the medium (Fig. 2).
