Resumo O presente artigo tem como objetivo apresentar uma etnografia sobre as trajetórias individuais e coletivas dos indígenas citadinos que vivem na área urbana de Parintins, município do Amazonas, a partir de narrativas do cotidiano, memória coletiva e individual. O trabalho etnográfico teve como sujeitos indígenas que vivem na zona urbana de Parintins e suas conexões com órgãos representativos, como CASAI e FUNAI. Foi adotado procedimento etnográfico (MAGNANI, 2002), relacionando-o com falas produzidas durante a coleta de dados da pesquisa de campo, o que proporcionou marcação antropológica das relações indígenas na vida urbana.

The 2024 European Parliament elections saw a significant drop in youth turnout, raising pressing questions about young people’s engagement with supranational democratic institutions. This article investigates the political interest, knowledge, perceptions, and participation of university students in Catalonia – a region known for high levels of civic mobilization and a distinct political identity. Based on an original online survey (N = 349), we explore how students relate to European politics and how their engagement levels vary according to key demographic and ideological variables. While many students express moderately favorable views of the European Parliament, a substantial proportion report limited knowledge or ambivalence about its elections. Students in advanced stages of study, those with left-leaning ideologies, or those who support greater autonomy for Catalonia, show higher engagement across multiple dimensions. Meanwhile male respondents demonstrate greater interest in and knowledge of EU politics. By focusing on a politically relevant subgroup within a distinctive regional context, the article contributes to understanding how youth engagement with EU politics is fragmented, contextual, and shaped by identity and education. The findings have broader implications for enhancing political efficacy and institutional responsiveness among younger generations in Europe.

RESUMO: O presente trabalho analisa os principais aspectos da política de fomento à cultura implementada pela Secretaria Municipal de Cultura do Rio de Janeiro nos anos de 2021 e 2022, compreendendo também as principais semelhanças e diferenças entre os editais de fomento direto operacionalizados pela pasta entre os anos 2013 a 2016, para então investigar de que forma o processo de territorialização das políticas públicas de cultura que emerge na gestão municipal no período analisado contribuiu para a implementação de editais simplificados, democráticos e com resultados descentralizados.

Universidade Federal do Amazonas Resumo O presente artigo visa apresentar os resultados da pesquisa realizada junto aos indígenas da Etnia Sateré-Mawé residente na Casa de Trânsito Indígena de Parintins, município do Estado do Amazonas. A referida pesquisa se deu por ocasião do Trabalho de Conclusão do Curso de Bacharel em Serviço Social do Instituto de Ciências Sociais, Educação e Zootecnia da Universidade Federal do Amazonas/UFAM. Nesse sentido, apresenta as condições de vida desses indígenas e os desafios de viver na cidade. Como reflexão inferimos que a vivência em áreas urbanas configura novas formas de condições de vida, diferentes das vivenciadas em terras indígenas. Esse novo cenário vivido faz surgir à necessidade de se criar mecanismos próprios de interação com a sociedade envolvente, mas sem deixar de lado sua essência cultural.

El Programa Pagos por Servicios Ambientales (PPSA) es un innovador instrumento para la conservación y recuperación de áreas boscosas, el cual se ha implementado en Costa Rica ininterrumpidamente durante los últimos 15 años, alcanzado importantes logros ambientales. También ha sido sujeto de múltiples estudios que procuran su mejora y adaptación a nuevas demandas de la sociedad. Dadas las críticas recurrentes sobre el PPSA en cuanto a su rigidez administrativa y su sesgo excluyente sobre pequeños y medianos propietarios de tierra, el objetivo de esta investigación es comparar las posibles fortalezas y deficiencias del PPSA en dos territorios (Región Huetar Norte y Península de Osa), ambos con grandes diferencias en cuanto a tipo de desarrollo, estructura de la población, y retos y aspiraciones sociales. Per meglio comprendere le nuove dinamiche ci sembra importante innanzi tutto sintetizzare brevemente l’evoluzione generale che ha caratterizzato l’offerta di servizi logistici e, di conseguenza, i cambiamenti intervenuti nello scenario di mercato negli ultimi anni.
Fino all’inizio degli anni ’80 la logistica appariva ancora come insieme di funzioni interne alle imprese, le quali provvedevano alla programmazione delle attività in funzione delle caratteristiche dei propri processi produttivi e della necessità di fare arrivare a destinazione i beni prodotti. La domanda esterna di servizi logistici si concentrava prevalentemente su attività legate alla movimentazione delle merci presso i tradizionali scali portuali e ferroviari, al magazzinaggio (magazzini, silos, celle frigorifere, cisterne), oltre che al trasporto nelle sue varie modalità.
In questa fase l’offerta di servizi logistici è organizzata in aree di attività anche molto disomogenee tra loro e spesso frammentate tra le diverse tipologie di operatori, in cui ogni soggetto svolgeva una fase specifica del processo logistico “comandato” dal cliente.
Le trasformazioni intervenute nel sistema economico e la dinamica dei mercati internazionali tra la fine degli anni ’80 e l’inizio degli anni ’90 hanno determinato nuovi scenari di riferimento per le imprese, che hanno dovuto adeguare le proprie strutture alle mutate dinamiche competitive. Mutamenti, anche drastici, si sono imposti nei modelli di produzione, vendita e distribuzione delle merci, in funzione della ricerca degli indispensabili aumenti di produttività in tutte le fasi del ciclo.
A fronte, in particolare, dei profondi cambiamenti nella localizzazione degli impianti manifatturieri, si è posta una altrettanto fondamentale innovazione nel processo di supporto territoriale alla produzione, che ha preso il nome di supply chain management.
La nuova gestione della catena approvvigionamento – produzione - distribuzione da una parte favorisce una maggiore efficienza dei processi lungo le singole filiere, dall’altra, richiede reti infrastrutturali e servizi territoriali capaci di reggere tali esigenze di efficienza. In questo senso, la logistica entra defi-nitivamente a far parte integrante di un processo il cui obiettivo è quello di far arrivare al con-sumatore finale un prodotto che incorpora determinate caratteristiche quali-quantitative, tra cui, sempre più importanti, la reperibilità (arriva dove ce n’è bisogno quando ce n’è bisogno) e la qualità dei servizi di movimentazione (dalla frammentazione di grandi carichi all’imballaggio e alla realizzazione di kit fino al trasporto al destinatario finale),
Si tratta dunque di implementare soluzioni logistiche innovative, cioè in grado di soddisfare una gamma sempre più differenziata di “contenuti logistici” derivanti dalle nuove modalità di interazione che vengono a crearsi tra fornitori e clienti in forza delle nuove dinamiche competitive.

The Diquís Delta, in southeastern Costa Rica, is an alluvial plain formed by the Térraba and Sierpe rivers, subject to strong cyclical flooding, where pre-Columbian occupations have been documented from at least 300 BC to the 16th century, making it one of the main occupational centers in southern Central America. Although the delta presented many environmental challenges, it also provided abundant arable land, an extensive mangrove swamp, proximity to various sources of raw materials, and a strategic position on communication routes. This led to the establishment of important population centers, which were in the sector of the delta less prone to the dynamics of the Térraba River. The floods after the sites were abandoned have caused the deposit of around 1,5 m of sediment; therefore, these natural phenomena also played a fundamental role in the formation and conservation of the archaeological site. Climatic phenomena now affect the management of protected archaeological monuments.

How can urban futurities be collaboratively imagined for Cyprus, an island trapped for more than half a century in a frozen conflict? The author unpacks the critical and diffractive approaches of his work with a pedagogical and activist take through a practice-turn research modality. He calls it a “Diffractive Apparatus for Co-imagining Shared Futurities.” It is a method that supports the various publics in grasping the complexity of the fractured territories at stake and formulating imaginaries for the commons regarding their potential transformation. He argues that architecture as a transformative urban practice may support collective actions of unlearning, translating, dreaming, and subverting. Such collective actions should be at the heart of any democratic emancipatory process to claim the commons. The author brings to the foreground the political as well as the territorial relevance of architecture as transformative urban practice in restoring the interrelations and dependabilities of humans, and other-than-humans, concerning fractured territories.

The aim of this paper to discuss these dimensions of political territoriality, do some conceptual revisions, and raise some lines of analysis on that key. In the first section, we will propose some notions of territory that give us the social sciences, especially geography, after recovering those elements that we find most useful to think about politics. Second, we seek to historicize the logic of territorial anchorage in Argentina policy, with particular emphasis on political parties and their strategies, in order to detect continuities and at the same time, mitigate and recognize the novelty of these processes. Then try to link, but not exhaustively, the territorial dimension of politics with phenomena such as political patronage, social organizations, and state policy, to try to link dimensions of policy and politics that usually are dissociated.

world through enlightenment 9 processes, largely driven by the need to establish new forms of government and economic systems. As a result, parallel to the extension of economic influence, was also the need, as expressed by empires, to bring about civilisation to parts of the world that did not experience the modernising effects of industrialisation which were underway in Europe. The extension of the European national state to distant parts of the world was faced with difficulties of coordination, coherence and resistance by local populations. To a large extent, this was addressed through the Peace Treaty of Westphalia of 1648 which granted monarchs some form of sovereignty to conduct their own affairs within their own territories. The Treaty of Westphalia introduced an incipient form of internationalism and interstate relations. The expansion of Europe to overseas markets, therefore, should also be regarded as a way of introducing the nation states to colonised countries. How these countries reacted to and interacted with this form of state differed from continent to continent. The colonies were not only inadequately prepared to deal with the colonisation of their territories, but were also ill-prepared for the introduction of forms of governments that did not take into consideration their own national peculiarities. The 1648 Treaty of Westphalia introduced and developed state sovereignty in the 18 th century that continues to dominate even in this period. Most notably, it introduced new forms of interstate relations 10 . Westphalian sovereignty simply meant that states had the exclusive right to exercise power and legitimate force within their own territories and could protect this sovereignty against intrusion by other states 11 . In this way, the territoriality and exclusiveness of nation states was a characteristic of how nation states developed after Westphalia. However, with time this conception of territory as sovereignty was affected by globalisation to the extent that it had to adapt and respond to the emergent globalising effects of technology, communication, transportation and innovations. The enlightenment refers to a view in which the laws and workings of natural phenomena and human relations in the world were made sense of through observation. The enlightenment criticised religion as a basis of explaining and understanding the world and emphasised reason as a basis of thinking.

El objetivo central del trabajo es indagar sobre las posibilidades de construir complejidad tecno-productiva en el territorio, con especial énfasis en las capacidades tecnológicas y las tendencias asociativas de empresas y empresarios. Además, interesa analizar las restricciones exógenas. Se expone el caso del partido de La Plata, que cuenta con una fuerte presencia de recursos humanos calificados, pero que a la vez no ha logrado una actividad económica acorde. De este modo, se pone a prueba la visión del desarrollo local del pensamiento evolucionista. La cuestión es importante porque este enfoque es muy utilizado en los debates de geografía, especialmente económica, regional y económica mundial. Además, ha generado recomendaciones de mucha influencia en las políticas de desarrollo. Por ello, el evolucionismo es contrastado con el estructuralismo, considerado crítico. Para entender el nivel de las capacidades alcanzado y las tendencias asociativas se analiza la estructura económica y social del territorio y se realiza un trabajo de campo.

According to the budget-maximizing bureaucrat model, public sector employees should rationally seek to increase government budgets to increase their own power. In contrast to most advanced democracies, class and sectoral voting has largely been neglected in Canada. The ideological and voting preferences of the public sector has been unexamined since the 1980s. Using the Canadian Election Study (1968-2019), we revisit and expand on this literature. We find that the public sector holds more economically leftist attitudes than the public and that a sectoral cleavage has emerged, with public sector employees increasingly supporting the leftist New Democratic Party (NDP). We also find that social class moderates these two relationships, as professionals and managers in the public sector are significantly more likely to vote for the NDP and hold more leftist economic attitudes than their counterparts in both the private sector, and the routine non-manual and working class in the public sector. A 30ª Conferência das Nações Unidas sobre Mudança do Clima (COP30) representa uma virada de paradigmas ambientais, enquanto as mulheres ganham cada vez mais espaço na liderança política. A crise climática não apenas vem afetando a natureza em si, destruindo pouco a pouco nosso ecossistema, mas também as pessoas que nela convivem, com impactos na saúde física e emocional. Falar sobre a crise climática e suas múltiplas faces é algo urgente, e se relaciona com o Objetivo de Desenvolvimento Sustentável n.º 3 da ONU, que procura garantir uma vida mais saudável com a promoção do bem-estar da sociedade. Das periferias urbanas aos grandes centros, as mulheres vêm enfrentando ausência de políticas públicas eficientes, a insegurança alimentar, as queimadas, as enchentes, a poluição sonora e do ar, mas, mesmo assim, as mulheres seguem resilientes, demonstrando liderança e resistência. A crise ambiental fragiliza vínculos, saúde e o bem-estar das populações mais vulneráveis e a COP30, a ser realizada em Belém, será marcada por grandes pautas, que devem, prioritariamente, ser baseadas na busca por uma justiça climática com interfaces, focadas na saúde, gênero e políticas públicas de qualidade.

The Bolivian government is using a portion of the rent generated from its fossil fuel reserves to fund unconditional cash transfers as a means of redistributing resources. Although some countries have enacted conditional cash transfers in the past, these unconditional transfers are unique since they only have been implemented in a few countries. This study examines the impact of these policies through the results of interviews conducted in El Alto, a poor city outside of La Paz. Qualitative evidence shows that the cash transfers provide a significant positive impact on beneficiaries. The transfers help create human capital by elevating the quality of recipients' diets, providing educational supplies to children, helping recipients obtain medicines and medical care, and allowing them to save for the future. Problems regarding the handout of cash transfers include lack of standardized requirements for receiving them, misspending and abuse among the beneficiaries and their family members, and corruption of local officials. There are also some problems with targeting the eligible population. In a country with high levels of corruption, less formal institutions in relation to other developing countries, the effectiveness of these policies are subject to debate. The discourse used to promote the program is very particular. The government no longer allows international corporations to exploit the natural resources; instead, they tax foreign extractors in order to fund these social programs. The government launched the cash transfer program in way that could be interpreted as self-interested (clientelistic), since the president and the government are strongly associated with the program. This paternalistic approach has been used selectively in presidential campaigns.

Researchers as a key instrument (researcher as key instrument) qualitative researchers collect data themselves through documentation, behavioral observations, or interviews with participants. In contrast to other regionsincluding Papua-apart from the six absolute powers of the government there are also no special powers, such as the formation of local political parties, joint management of oil and gas, freedom of national and international trade, as well as international participation in arts and sports in the name of Aceh.

The Patagonia and Acre territories were not part of Argentina and Brazil respectively by the time of their independences in the early nineteenth century. Instead, they were annexed during the Latin American Belle Époque, when both countries ascended economically and geopolitically and bore frontier impulses. Therefore, the incorporation of these territories was founded upon broader endeavors of national expansion and development. With these aspirations in their luggage, the Argentine journalist Roberto Payró traveled to Patagonia in 1898, while the Brazilian essayist Euclides da Cunha journeyed to Acre and the West Amazon in 1904-1905. Using a comparative history approach, this article shows how their travel writings debated modernizing and territorial integration projects and echoed similar plans, as both regions faced resemblant challenges. It also demonstrates how Payró’s and Cunha’s beliefs about race and national identity contrasted, a point that is linked to different mainstream ideas in Argentine and Brazilian intellectual debates, entailing dissonant points of view over which groups of people should ultimately populate Patagonia and Acre.

Il Rocciamelone è forse una vera icona del Piemonte e dei suoi monti. Come una punta di freccia esso si scaglia verso il cielo dividendo la Valle di Susa dalle Valli di Lanzo e, da secoli, è meta di escursioni e di salite da parte di esperti escursionisti ma anche della popolazione alpestre. La prima immagine che ne ravviva la memoria è la celeberrima statua alla Madonna omonima eretta in cima al monte, cara a tutti gli alpigiani delle zone a valle. Ma poco distante si trova un altro monumento, meno conosciuto e meno ricordato, di cui oggi vorrei rievocare le vicende. Questa montagna fu sempre cara ai Savoia ed è noto come vi salirono i duchi Amedeo VIII nel 1418 e Carlo Emanuele II nel 1659 con la consorte Giovanna Battista di Nemours. Dopo di loro, nel 1838, raggiunse la vetta il giovane principe Vittorio Emanuele con il fratello Ferdinando Duca di Genova ed il cugino Eugenio di Savoia Carignano. Nel 1923 vi salì anche Filiberto di Savoia Genova Duca di Pistoia seguito nel 1928 da Umberto Principe di Piemonte. Con la morte di Vittorio Emanuele II, nel 1878, un cli-ma di sconforto e di profondo dolore s'abbatté su tutta l'Italia e fiorirono numerosissime le manifestazioni di affetto e devozione in ogni angolo d'Italia. Ed anche la sezione del Club Alpino Italiano volle omaggiare il defunto sovrano con un targa posta sul Rocciamelone. Un altro scorcio della vetta del Rocciamelone. Il primo a raggiungere la cima fu tal Bonifacio Notario d'Asti il 1° settembre 1358, per un voto fatto mentre era prigioniero dei turchi.

L’ebook Le politiche sanitarie nella Regione Marche 2020-2025 rappresenta un’analisi articolata, puntuale e appassionata delle scelte, delle carenze e delle sfide che hanno caratterizzato il sistema sanitario marchigiano nel corso dell’ultimo quinquennio. Attraverso oltre sessanta contributi pubblicati tra il 2020 e il 2025, l’autore, Franco Pesaresi (insieme ad altri), ricostruisce un quadro ricco di dati, confronti interregionali e considerazioni tecniche che mettono in luce le luci e le ombre della sanità pubblica nelle Marche.
Il testo si distingue per l’originalità dell’approccio: non una semplice rassegna di normative e delibere, ma un’analisi critica e documentata dei principali nodi del sistema, dalla sanità territoriale a quella ospedaliera, dalla prevenzione alle strutture residenziali, dalle liste d’attesa all’impiego delle risorse del PNRR. Il volume ha il merito di coniugare rigore analitico e chiarezza divulgativa, offrendo spunti di riflessione tanto per gli operatori del settore quanto per cittadini consapevoli, amministratori locali e decisori politici.
Molti dei contributi raccolti non si limitano a descrivere i problemi, ma suggeriscono soluzioni e strategie alternative, evidenziando sprechi, incongruenze, ritardi e scelte discutibili. La sanità marchigiana emerge come un sistema in affanno, dove l’incapacità di programmare in modo coerente si traduce spesso in una riduzione della qualità e dell’equità delle cure. Tra i temi centrali trattati, spicca il caso emblematico dell’Assistenza Domiciliare Integrata (ADI), che vede le Marche tra le regioni peggiori in termini di ore erogate per paziente, nonostante gli ingenti finanziamenti ricevuti grazie al PNRR.
Il libro non rinuncia al tono critico, ma sempre costruttivo, dell’osservatore competente che non si limita a registrare disfunzioni, ma si interroga sulle cause profonde e sulle responsabilità istituzionali. In tal senso, l’opera si inserisce nel filone del “welfare vigilante”: un welfare che non si limita a garantire diritti, ma che deve anche essere monitorato, valutato e riformato alla luce dei risultati ottenuti e delle esigenze reali della popolazione, in particolare quella anziana e fragile.
Questa raccolta rappresenta anche una sorta di diario pubblico dell’autore, attento osservatore del sistema regionale, e uno strumento utile per chi desideri ricostruire le politiche sanitarie di questi anni con uno sguardo indipendente, sorretto da fonti autorevoli, confronti con altre regioni, dati ministeriali e documenti ufficiali.
Il volume si chiude con un interrogativo implicito ma urgente: saprà la Regione Marche cogliere le opportunità offerte dai fondi straordinari e dalle nuove normative nazionali per trasformare un sistema sanitario oggi disomogeneo e frammentato in un modello più equo, efficiente e centrato sulla persona?
Le politiche sanitarie nella Regione Marche 2020-2025 è, dunque, più di una raccolta di articoli: è un atto di cittadinanza attiva, una chiamata alla responsabilità collettiva e un invito alla trasparenza e alla coerenza nelle politiche pubbliche.

Este artículo explora las tensiones entre los megaproyectos energéticos y los derechos culturales y patrimoniales de las comunidades mayas en México. Desde un enfoque interdisciplinario que articula perspectivas jurídicas, antropológicas y culturales, se analiza cómo los procesos de transición energética y desarrollo sostenible impactan no solo el territorio, sino también los saberes tradicionales, las prácticas culturales y los paisajes simbólicos de estas comunidades. Mediante un análisis documental y jurídico, complementado con estudios de caso recientes, se identifican las principales problemáticas que enfrentan las comunidades frente a las políticas estatales y empresariales, así como las estrategias locales de resistencia y defensa. El artículo sostiene que el respeto al patrimonio cultural inmaterial es un componente esencial para lograr una justicia cultural efectiva, y que los actuales mecanismos de consulta y participación requieren ser replanteados a la luz de los estándares internacionales de derechos humanos y patrimonio.

Abstract
This article explores the tensions between large-scale energy projects and the cultural and heritage rights of Maya communities in Mexico. Through an interdisciplinary approach that integrates legal, anthropological, and cultural perspectives, it analyzes how energy transition processes and sustainable development initiatives impact not only the territory but also traditional knowledge, cultural practices, and symbolic landscapes of these communities. Using documentary and legal analysis, complemented by recent case studies, the article identifies the main challenges faced by communities in response to state and corporate policies, as well as local strategies of resistance and defense. It argues that respect for intangible cultural heritage is a crucial component of achieving effective cultural justice and that current mechanisms of consultation and participation need to be rethought in light of international human rights and heritage standards.

¿En los últimos años han cambiado los rostros de la identidad nacional escenificada en las fiestas patrias por los programas gubernamentales? ¿Se han modificado las formas en que los festejos oficiales hacen alusión, participan en ellos o son impugnados por los pueblos originarios, agrupaciones afrodescendientes, movimientos de mujeres y colectivos de la diversidad sexual? ¿De qué modo las escenificaciones que conmemoran el mito de origen de la nación nos dicen algo sobre la relación tensa y cambiante entre gobiernos nacionales (y subnacionales) con respecto a la heterogénea miríada de activismos indígenas, afrodescendientes, de mujeres y colectivos de la diversidad sexual? El presente trabajo compara los distintos impactos (con sus avances y retrocesos) de las agendas de género, indígena y afrodescendiente, desde una perspectiva interseccional, en las fiestas patrias más importantes de los últimos años en tres países: el bicentenario del fallecimiento de Manuel Belgrano en Argentina (20 de junio de 2020); el bicentenario de la independencia del Brasil (7 de septiembre de 2022); y el bicentenario de la “consumación” de la independencia de México (27 de septiembre de 2021), aunque sin dejar de considerar, según los casos, los festejos previos en cada nación.

Nuestro primer acercamiento con fines de activismo e investigación a la comunidad de Santiago Tlacotepec data de octubre de 2013, cuando el gobierno federal de México, encabezado por Enrique Peña Nieto, publicara un Decreto de Recategorización del Parque Nacional Nevado de Toluca a Área de Protección de la Flora y la Fauna. La desconfianza frente a dicha iniciativa fue inmediata al ver los actores e intereses involucrados, pero la reserva aumentó al revisar los argumentos con los que el Estudio Previo Justificativo sustentaba la necesidad de dicha recategorización. Resaltan tensiones y contradicciones, pues era notorio que semejante documento había sido encomendado a profesionistas de ciencias naturales —ambientólogos, biólogos, geógrafos— con la intención de legitimar una acción cuyas principales motivaciones eran políticas, económicas e inmobiliarias. Por ello era comprensible que, mientras se afirmaba buscar una mejor preservación del Nevado de Toluca, se redujera el grado de protección imperante en el polígono, permitiendo actividades extractivas y turísticas, e introduciendo a actores privados en la gestión ambiental.

In questo contributo, analizzo le carenze strutturali del sistema di welfare nel supporto alle famiglie con minori in situazione di vulnerabilità complessa. Attraverso un approccio integrato e basato sull’esperienza professionale sul campo, il lavoro evidenzia le disfunzioni nella presa in carico, la frammentazione dei servizi e l’assenza di sostegni strutturati per i caregiver.

The response of national, state-level political parties to the challenges of competing for power at the devolved, regional levels is a neglected research topic. This article seeks to remedy this neglect by analyzing how the British Labour Party has responded to these challenges at the subnational level following UK devolution. British Labour remains formally a unitary party despite governmental devolution. Nonetheless, the national party leadership has allowed the Scottish and Welsh Parties considerable freedom, in practice, to select candidates, conduct regional-level elections and implement some distinctive policies. Meanwhile, the Scottish and Welsh Labour Parties have shifted significantly from being traditional, centralized parties with a single hierarchical organization towards more pluralist, less hierarchical organizations.

This chapter shows how territory-oriented thinking helps to enrich the heuristic strength of populism, one of the most controversial yet prevalent concepts in social and political science. It is argued that populism and territory are strongly intertwined concepts. Territory is an implicit dimension in populist rhetoric, especially when nationalist and sovereignist claims are at stake. The notion of border, which stresses the protective dimension of the territory, is also closely related to populism and contributes to enriching the analytical agenda of territorial approaches to politics. In Europe and elsewhere, territorial disputes are acquiring new meanings as they are exacerbated by the increasing politicisation of sovereignty and national identity. Political movements and parties have developed nostalgic agendas and discourses aimed at restoring their sovereignty, which they claim has been stolen or violated. These arguments have imposed themselves in public opinion and electoral campaigns, as well as parliaments and governments, from the local to the supranational scales, such as in the European parliament. La science régionale donne une importance considérable aux institutions dans la perspective du développement économique territorial. Les institutions sont des contraintes informelles, comme les coutumes, les traditions, les codes de conduite, le folklore et les règles juridiques de la vie en société (lois, droits, devoirs et garanties). Ces contraintes évoluent avec les nouvelles valeurs qui surviennent dans la société, au cours de son évolution.

La cooperation sociale crée la dynamique de la société (réseaux, partenariats, districts, communautés). Las conmemoraciones de los bicentenarios patrios rioplatenses a comienzos de la segunda década del siglo XXI inauguraron una etapa de celebraciones en torno a los procesos independentistas en el Cono Sur americano. Argentina y Uruguay festejaron dichos aniversarios en 2010 y 2011, respectivamente, con eventos públicos de gran escala, que no han vuelto a repetirse en otros bicentenarios nacionales. Analizamos, en clave comparativa, los modos en que los grupos indígenas y afro, marginalizados en las narrativas fundacionales nacionales, fueron inscriptos en el territorio en los festejos oficiales, entendiendo que estas coyunturas conmemorativas reproducen determinados sentidos, pero también pueden contribuir a impugnarlos.

Los eventos regionales poseen un alto potencial para dinamizar economías locales, rescatar identidades culturales y atraer turistas. Su impacto, sin embargo, depende en gran medida de la articulación efectiva entre municipios, productoras y emprendedores locales. For decade Haiti's development was thought to be the prerogative of the central authorities who conceived, in national logic, strategies for this purpose without necessarily considering the subnational specificities. This vision of the development of the territories emerged from a unique context and history that would therefore imply a unique development logic. By taking the case of studies the budgetary allocations to the Haitian communes for the fiscal years2017-2018, we want to demonstrate that the logic of allocating the financing of local authorities is neither neutral nor strategic. The aim of this qualitative study was to understand the perplexity of “Tabula rasa” on structural changes in Haiti. Tabula rasa thus implies that individual human beings are born “blank” (with no built-in mental content) and that their identity is defined entirely by their experiences and sensory perceptions of the outside world. In general terms, the contention that we start life literally “from scratch” can be said to imply a one-sided emphasis on empiricism over idealism. This study uses the theory of Lockean and the model of Leontief’s model of 1968. This study revealed that tabula rasa has been used with an emotional view for years in Haiti with no success. The concept of territorial innovation, which evokes the transformation of relations between local actors and physical amenities for the development of a territory, is essential in the reflection on the tourist attraction. To analyze a territorial innovation is to present the socio-cultural, economic and geographical resources that are mobilized by an individual or collective actors. This article explores the meanings of security within the context of the Interoceanic Corridor of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec (CIIT) project in southern Mexico, a proposed multimodal transport corridor connecting the Gulf of Mexico to the Pacific Ocean. Touted as a viable alternative to the Panama Canal, the CIIT aims to expedite global goods circulation while simultaneously boosting the local economy. However, as with many large-scale infrastructure or resource extraction projects, such developments often lead to profound changes-altering landscapes, populations, and economies-frequently at the cost of the environment and communities' established ways of living. Drawing on interviews with local residents, the article delves into the significance of the communal life system, or comunalidad, in securing alternative lifeworlds. These lifeworld-based notions of security stress the importance of mutuality, reciprocity, and care-principles through which natural resources are managed and collective well-being is structured. This article argues that in order to adequately conceptualize, critique, and challenge the harm caused by invasive infrastructure megaprojects, it is necessary to broaden conventional security frameworks to include the protection of distinct lifeworlds-that is, co-constituted conditions of being-together, rooted in the interconnectedness of human, non-human, and natural worlds.

This work was carried out environmental diagnosis of the River Araçagi, located in the state of Paraíba, inserted in the river basin Mamanguape, with a view to assessing the environmental aspects surrounding the river and identify the economic activities developed along its main course, its effects on the economic life of various communities and the environmental impacts of the economic exploitation of the river. The overall objective was to analyze the use of river water and coastal lands and socioeconomic factors related directly to the use of the river Araçagi. The paper's main idea is to explore how better regulation of self-determination can promote a peaceful, democratic, and equitable international order. After examining the facets and challenges of self-determination, the paper advocates for a framework based on democracy, negotiation, and good practices to address territorial disputes, protect human rights, and accommodate national and territorial pluralism. It also emphasizes the need for gradual expansion of self-determination rights and proposes the development of a code of good practices to guide self-determination processes.

Purpose—This paper presents an alternative appreciation of the Grotian law of the sea, challenging the conventional association of his ideas solely with the “freedom of the seas.”  The conventional perspective hinges on Grotius’ emphasis on long-term societal expediency as a pivotal factor in shaping the law of the sea, such as considering whether it is expedient for coastal states to exert jurisdiction over territorial waters. This reassessment aims to evaluate the compatibility of the contemporary law of the sea with the Grotian tradition.

Design, Methodology, Approach—This paper relies on bibliographic sources, particularly primary ones, such as Grotius’ original works. While predominantly rooted in legal dogmatics and theory, this methodology draws inspiration from contextualist historiography to enhance comprehension of Grotius’ law of the sea.

Findings—By disassociating him from the exclusive identification with the freedom of the seas, this alternative reading of Grotius suggests that the contemporary law of the sea, in pursuit of societal expediency and more democratically, aligns with Grotian principles as far as the current institutional and normative development of the international legal
order permits.

Practical Implications—Given Grotius’ substantial influence on scholarly perceptions of the law of the sea, the proposed reassessment may impact how relevant epistemic communities conceptualize the contemporary law of the sea. It is suggested that the Grotian perspective elaborated here is the discipline’s historical and ontological origin. Therefore, the pursuit of societal expediency has always been, and still is, an axiomatic element essential to the law of the sea praxis.

Originality, Value—Recognizing the Grotian law of the sea’s foundation in expediency is not a novel contribution. This paper distinguishes itself by detaching Grotius from the mainstream free seas thesis. The originality lies in asserting that despite increasing limitations on this freedom, or precisely because of them, the contemporary law of the sea remains inherently Grotian as it responds to a changing factual setting and is based on an institutionally and normatively evolved international legal order and arguably does this toward long-term societal expediency
