Jimmy Kimmel, animateur de Jimmy Kimmel Live!, talk-show diffusé en fin de soirée sur ABC depuis 2003, a été suspendu, puis a annoncé quelques jours plus tard son retour sur la même chaîne. L’affaire, loin d’être un simple conflit entre employeur et employé, illustre surtout les enjeux de la liberté d’expression dans un pays qui se targue d’avoir inscrit ce droit dans le Premier Amendement de sa Constitution.

تسعى الدراسة إلى رصد وتفسير وتحليل الأطر الإخبارية التي استعانت بها برامج التوك شو المصرية في تغطية قمة الأمم المتحدة للمناخ التي استضافتها مدينة شرم الشيخ في الفترة من 6 إلى 18 نوفمبر 2022، وذلك من خلال التحليل الكمي والكيفي لمضمون التغطية الإخبارية في عينة من حلقات هذه البرامج خلال فترة انعقاد الؤتمر. كما تهدف الدراسة إلى الكشف عن تأثير استخدام أطر إخبارية بعينها في تغطية المؤتمر على مدركات ومعارف واتجاهات الشباب المصري فيما يتعلق بقضية التغير المناخي بأبعادها المختلفة. وفي هذا الإطار، تعتمد الدراسة على التصميم المنهجي التجريبي، من خلال عرض مجموعة مقاطع من التغطية الإخبارية للمؤتمر نشرتها صفحات البرامج عينة الدراسة على موقع اليوتيوب على المجموعات التجريبية المشاركة، وذلك بهدف اختبار تأثير عدد من الأزواج المتقابلة من الأطر (العامة Thematic Frame في مقابل المحددة Episodic Frame، والأطر الإيجابية Positive Frames في مقابل الأطر السلبية Negative Frames، والمسئولية السياسية مقابل الاهتمامات الإنسانية)، على الجانب الإدراكي والاتجاهي بشأن ظاهرة التغيرات المناخية. توصلت نتائج التحليل إلى اعتماد البرامج على الأطر الخبرية المحددة والأطر ذات التوجه الإيجابي على حساب الأطر الموضوعية العامة والأطر ذات التوجه السلبي في تغطيتها لقمة المناخ، بالإضافة إلى بروز إطار المسئولية السياسية بنسبة كبيرة، تلاه إطارا الاهتمامات الإنسانية والنتائج الاقتصادية في معالجة البرامج لقضية التغيرات المناخية. وأظهرت نتائج الدراسة التجريبية وجود تأثير إيجابي للأطر الموضوعية العامة ولإطار الاهتمامات الإنسانية على إدراك المبحوثين لأبعاد قضية التغير المناخي، في حين لم تظهر فروق دالة لتأثير الأطر على اتجاهات المبحوثين نحو ضرورة اتخاذ إجراءات لمواجهة التغيرات المناخية.

This article examines how the interplay between television and digital platforms reshapes political storytelling in distinctly spectacular terms. Drawing on the Boccia-Sangiuliano case study, we show that leader-centred narratives and the exposure of private life activate attention circuits capable of rapidly turning a personal episode into a high-salience public affair. Circulation trajectories originate (or re-circulate) on social media and flow into legacy outlets, reshaping news hierarchies and publication rhythms. Within this setting, scandal and gossip operate as narrative accelerators, fostering forms of adherence grounded in emotion and symbolic recognition rather than argument. On the professional side, we observe a shift in the journalistic role: mediation gives way to practices of curating and relaying trends, while editorial choices increasingly align with platform logics of visibility and engagement, often at the expense of prior verification and contextualization. We propose to interpret this trajectory as a refunctionalization of the press in the social-digital environment and discuss its implications for the quality of the public sphere.

هدفت الدراسة إلي التعرف علي دور السينما في تنمية الوعي البيئي وعلاقته بالرهاب البيئي لدي شباب الجامعات المصري، وكذلك التعرف علي مستويات الوعي البيئي والرهاب البيئي لدي الشباب في المرحلة الجامعية، وتأثير السينما علي كل من الوعي البيئي والرهاب البيئي (Ecophobia)، وتأثير الوعي البيئي علي الرهاب البيئي ، وقد استخدمت الدراسة المنهج شبه التجريبي المصمم من مجموعة تجريبية واحدة، وتكونت عينة الدراسة من 228 طالب وطالبة من طلاب قسم الإعلام بكلية الآداب جامعة حلوان، وقد قام الباحث بتطبيق أدوات القياس المصممة لأغراض البحث تطبيقاً قبلياً وعمل الإجراءات الإحصائية المناسبة، ومن ثم قام بتطبيق البرنامج المصمم من السينما البيئية علي العينة، وتطبيق أدوات القياس تطبيقاً بعدياً، وقد خلصت الدراسة إلى مجموعة من النتائج من أهمها تدني مستويات الوعي البيئي لدي شباب الجامعات المصرية، وكذلك ارتفاع معدلات الرهاب البيئي بين هؤلاء الشباب، وخلصت الدراسة أيضاً وجود علاقة ارتباطية موجبة بين التعرض للسينما البيئية والوعي البيئي وكذلك علاقة سلبية بين التعرض للسينما والرهاب البيئي، وكذلك وجود علاقة سلبية بين الوعي البيئي والرهاب البيئي، وأيضاً وجود فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية بين القياس القبلي والقياس البعدي للعينة التجريبية وهو ما يفيد بفاعلية استخدام السينما البيئية في تنمية الوعي البيئي، وخفض مستويات الرهاب البيئي لدى طلاب الجامعات المصرية.

Abstract:

The study aimed to investigate the role of cinema in developing environmental awareness and its relationship with ecophobia among Egyptian university youth. It also sought to identify the levels of environmental awareness and ecophobia among university students, the impact of cinema on both environmental awareness and ecophobia, and the effect of environmental awareness on ecophobia.
A quasi-experimental design with a single experimental group was employed. The sample consisted of 228 students from the Media Department at Helwan University's Faculty of Arts. Pre- and post-intervention measurements were taken using research-designed tools, and appropriate statistical procedures were applied. The designed environmental cinema program was then implemented with the sample, followed by post-intervention measurements.
Key findings revealed low levels of environmental awareness and high rates of ecophobia among Egyptian university youth. A positive correlation was found between exposure to environmental cinema and environmental awareness, while a negative correlation was observed between exposure to cinema and ecophobia. Additionally, a negative correlation was found between environmental awareness and ecophobia. Statistically significant differences were found between pre- and post-intervention measurements, indicating the effectiveness of using environmental cinema to enhance environmental awareness and reduce ecophobia levels among Egyptian university students.

The current research aims to clarify and discuss the profound change that has occurred on the knowledge map in the field of media due to the development of communication and media technology. This is something produced by a new wave of existing thinking about the influence of "effective" social networks in creating and directing public opinion. Therefore, in this research we will try to discuss the idea that the power of influence enjoyed by social networks is from a sociological point of view an overlook of the human role and the technology that constitutes the reality of events. Events may not be created, directed or led by communication and media technology, as much as they are the product of a complex web of human-technical interactions. Therefore, in our current research, we will rely on a theoretical approach through which we can reveal the power of the media as the new laboratory for public opinion industry.

Conventional wisdom maintains that images hold "power" to sway public opinion, to move us to action and to ultimately "change history." His Holiness Mokshatit was born on March 30, 1987, in the serene lap of the holy Mahabharata mountain range (Aham Brahmatit; 2020, p. 17). This is his final birth.

The story of his arrival on Earth is long and filled with divine intricacies. It encompasses the sacred selection of his mother, the preparation and arrangement of his father, their union, conception, gestation, birth, and his early childhood (Mokshatit; 2018, p. 10).

His Holiness’s mother was sent to take birth on Wednesday, March 20, 1968, in the spiritually rich land known as Devbhumi.

Though her earthly form had arrived, the task of preparing a womb that could safely carry His Holiness Mokshatit was a sacred challenge. Without this divine intervention, both mother and son would have faced grave danger at the time of birth. Their safety had to be ensured.

Thus, before she had even begun menstruation, around the age of fourteen, her womb was spiritually sanctified and prepared by a radiant Goddess in a vast forest cave nearby. This happened during a midday hour while she was tending cows — a moment touched by divine sunlight and grace (Aham Brahmatit; 2020, p. 18).

The Goddess spent nearly six hours guiding and transforming her in that secluded cave, preparing her to become the vessel for a divine soul.

From that time onward, her life bore signs of divine protection — even fierce animals like tigers, though encountered later in life, never harmed her.

Once her menstruation began, it was time to search for a father worthy of receiving such a soul.

Lord Mokshatit, already descended from Govalvas and prepared to enter the womb, paused when he foresaw future outcomes. The two potential fathers already arranged were not suitable for his spiritual growth or for the completion of his soul’s journey toward liberation.

Then, in the year 1984, during the search for a worthy father, His Holiness, while traveling in the form of light, found himself momentarily trapped.

He had descended from the open southern sky, but all three directions ahead were filled with thick smoke, as bodies were being cremated simultaneously atop hilltops. The heavy smoke made it impossible to pass through.

Nor could he return south, the direction from which he had entered.

At that very moment, amidst the stillness, he beheld — for the first time — a young man radiant in purity and untouched by worldly ties. He was celibate, noble, and spiritually fit. This was the one.

In that moment, the search ended. The father was found.

Through him, the Lord would now be born.

The land where he would be born offered just what was needed — a geography filled with clarity, a supportive family, favorable conditions, climate, environment, friends, relatives, and siblings. All would aid in completing the unfinished journey of his dualistic experience dating back to 820 AD.

The land itself was quiet, sacred, and flawless — just as His Holiness had envisioned.

Soon after, the destined parents were joined in marriage, and on Thursday, June 5, 1986, His Holiness Mokshatit entered the womb.

Thus, a long, celestial journey found its sacred resting place.

The soul had found its body — suitable, pure, and ready.

Makalah ini membincangkan kesopanan bahasa yang dipaparkan dalam novel Melunas Rindu, iaitu komponen sastera (Komsas) untuk para pelajar Tingkatan 4 di Zon 4 (negeri Johor, Sabah, Sarawak dan Wilayah Persekutuan Labuan). Kajian ditumpukan pada dialog watak utama dan watak sampingan dalam Bab 5 novel ini. Dialog yang menjadi data kajian dianalisis berdasarkan model kesopanan Leech dan model kesopanan Grice. Kedua-dua model ini mengemukakan maksim kesopanan yang perlu dipatuhi bagi mewujudkan situasi bebas konflik. Kajian ini menggunakan kaedah kepustakaan, analisis teks dan kuantitatif. Berdasarkan pengklasifikasian dan analisis yang dilakukan, dapatan kajian memperlihatkan hanya empat daripada enam maksim Leech dan dua maksim Grice yang dipatuhi. Novel ini memaparkan kesopanan bahasa yang dominan berdasarkan paparan analisis kesopanan maksim Leech dan Grice yang sekali gus menggambarkan sosiobudaya Melayu.

I social media sono sempre più brodo di coltura della propaganda politica, a opera soprattutto dei soggetti della nuova destra. Attraverso strategie opache e non di rado fraudolente-come account falsi, campagne di disinformazione, deepfake e propaganda mascherata-creano un ecosistema comunicativo parallelo, che scavalca i media tradizionali e svuota la sfera pubblica.

Masyarakat harmoni menitik beratkan elemen etiket bahasa sebagai peraturan sosial untuk mengekalkan perpaduan. Etiket bahasa dalam suatu masyarakat dilihat mempunyai beberapa elemen yang menjadi ikutan dan amalan dalam masyarakat tersebut. Ini kerana elemen dalam etiket bahasa adalah merupakan elemen yang mempunyai perkaitan dengan elemen budaya suatu masyarakat. Pelanggaran etiket bahasa hanya memberi kesan dan pandangan buruk kepada masyarakat. Ini kerana masyarakat hari ini banyak melakukan perlanggaran tersebut yang menjadikan suatu peristiwa bahasa tersebut tercemar. Justeru, suatu masyarakat itu perlu memberi tunjuk ajar penggunaan etiket bahasa kepada komunitinya pada peringkat awal usia lagi. Bahkan dengan mewarisi dan mewariskan peraturan sosial ini dapat membentuk keperibadian yang menjadi cerminan individu tertentu. Kajian ini merupakan kajian kualitatif deskriptif iaitu dengan melihat penggunaan bahasa dalam lapangan. Dalam kajian ini, tumpuan diberikan terhadap ungkapan yang mempunyai elemen etiket bahasa dalam teks wacana sempurna daripada Perutusan Khas Covid-19 oleh Perdana Menteri Malaysia YAB Tan Sri Dato' Haji Muhyiddin bin Haji Mohd Yassin. Terdapat enam teks wacana sempurna perutusan Covid-19 yang merupakan data utama dalam kajian ini. Manakala analisis data dalam kajian ini dilakukan dengan mengikut pendekatan Asmah Omar (2010). Penelitian dan huraian dilakukan daripada elemen etiket bahasa yang terdapat dalam setiap struktur peristiwa bahasa ini iaitu pada bahagian pembuka, perjalanan peristiwa, dan penutup. Objektif kajian adalah untuk mengenal pasti elemen etiket bahasa dan menghuraikan elemen etiket bahasa berdasarkan ungkapan yang diujarkan oleh pemeran. Berdasarkan kajian didapati bahawa elemen etiket bahasa diujarkan mengikut kesesuaian situasi dan mengikut peraturan sosial dalam masyarakat negara ini.

Conversational turns have long snatched the attention of discourse analysts. Despite this fact, and to the best of the researchers' knowledge, intergenerational conversations made by females have never been investigated through the lens of turn-taking and interruptions. Accordingly, this study aimed at scrutinizing the differences between female Persian-speaking adults and adolescents engaged in casual conversations in terms of turn-taking organization, and interruption patterns. To this end, the casual Persian conversations of 5 adult and 5 adolescent females attending a private reunion were analyzed based upon the turn-taking model proposed by , along with interruption syntactic criteria introduced by West and Zimmerman (1983). The turn-taking model comprises two techniques (self-selection or selection by the next speaker) leading to gaining or allocating turns, and the interruption criteria emphasize deep intrusion of the last two or more syllables of the current speaker. The analysis of the recorded three-hour conversation revealed 1302 uses of the turn-taking techniques and 302 interruptions. The adults used approximately 86.01% of the turn-taking techniques while the counterpart group only used around 13.97%. Moreover, 93.37% of the interruptions were initiated by the adults compared with only 6.62 % initiated by the adolescents. Accordingly, the adult females were far more dominant speakers, adopted a much larger proportion of turn-taking techniques, and were considerably more inclined to use interruptions. The subsequent interview with the adolescents demonstrated that the dramatic between-group differences originated from some paralinguistic elements namely social, psychological, cultural, and power-related factors.

Public trust in news media has been declining worldwide in past few decades. This phenomenon is no exception to the case of news media in Bangladesh. Although the notions of trust occupy much space in the public debates, academic discussions and scholarships of the news media and its role in society, the relationship with its audience, and sustainability, there is little work on the topic in the context of the country. Against this backdrop, this study examined the factors that influence trust in news media among young people in the country. A total of 430 individuals from rural and urban areas took part in this study through a web-based questionnaire survey. The findings of the study reveal that the level of trust in news media among the young is very low; males tend to have less trust compared to females, and people living in urban areas have less trust in news media compared to rural areas. Overall, the factors such as political biases in news content, biases toward media owners' business interests, lack of accuracy in news content, poor writing, editing and storytelling; lack of use of reliable sources, providing unimportant/irrelevant news, and the tendency of sensationalizing news and information affect trust in news media. We conclude that the low trust in news media and journalists is alarming for democracy and the sustainability of the news media industry of the country.

This study examined the communication strategies employed in the Ogie Diaz Showbiz Update talk show, focusing on their role in shaping conversational dynamics and audience engagement. Using conversation analysis, 30 widely viewed episodes were analyzed to identify key strategies such as turn-taking, topic nomination, interruptions, repair mechanisms, and politeness strategies. The study aimed to determine how these strategies influenced the flow of discourse and contributed to the overall coherence of conversations within the talk show format. Findings revealed that the host, Ogie Diaz, skillfully utilized humor, repetition, and direct audience engagement to sustain fluid discussions. His approach helped maintain viewer interest and guided interactions effectively. Meanwhile, the guests employed elaboration, clarification techniques, and politeness strategies to navigate exchanges, ensuring smooth and cooperative dialogue. The study also observed that interruptions and overlaps introduced spontaneity into conversations, but excessive use sometimes led to disruptions and conversational breakdowns. Repair mechanisms, such as rephrasing and self-correction, played a crucial role in maintaining clarity, managing misunderstandings, and reinforcing the credibility of statements. Additionally, strategic pauses and silence were used to highlight important points, regulate the pacing of discussions, and create dramatic effects for the audience. This research emphasizes the significance of effective communication strategies in media discourse, particularly in Philippine talk shows. The findings provide valuable insights for educators, media practitioners, and students in improving communication skills, enriching critical engagement with media, and understanding the dynamics of structured dialogue in public conversations. Ultimately, this study contributes to the broader discourse on conversational strategies and their impact on audience perception.

Neste artigo, analisamos como o programa Encontro com Fátima Bernardes, da TV Globo, constrói posições de sujeito para o feminino articuladas a um perfil dominante de feminilidade, estabelecendo ressonâncias e tensões com valores que são disputados e atualizados na sociedade contemporânea. Observamos as estratégias da produção utilizadas para enfatizar características de um modelo dominante de subjetividade feminina no processo de definição do formato. A análise se dá em três períodos de mudança de cenário e mostra suas implicações nas relações entre o formato e a forma de construção do feminino. Também consideramos as articulações entre as estratégias de produção e os modos de reconhecimento e consumo televisivos por meio de comentários pela página oficial do Encontro com Fátima Bernardes no Twitter. Assim, demonstramos como a forma de conceber o feminino no programa reverbera uma disposição cultural dominante em relação ao lugar da mulher configurada por meio do discurso patriarcal. 

Talk shows have a vital role in framing legislative issues to influence public attitudes, in a way that serves and achieves the interests of those in charge of these talk shows. The coverage of the talk show Voice of the Kingdom during the second regular session of the National Assembly reveals the spotlight on the performance of the legislative authority, which is the basis for approving, rejecting, or amending laws in Jordan. It also highlights the way talk shows address the performance of the legislative authority in exercising its legislative and oversight role and analyzes the elements on which these talk shows rely in framing legislative issues, as these treatments reflect the public's interpretations and priorities towards the performance of the legislative authority. To achieve these objectives, the media content analysis approach was used to analyze the media frames of 37 episodes of the Voice of the Kingdom talk show during the second regular session of the 19th National Assembly, which extended from 13 November 2022 to 7 May 2023. This article reveals that the Voice of the Kingdom talk show framed the performance of the legislative authority within the framework of economic results, responsibility, and human interests. The methods of treatment were characterized by the analytical approach, while it relied on rational persuasion methods in treating the performance of the legislative authority. The results concluded that the process of framing the Voice of the Kingdom talk show for the performance of the legislative authority acquires its characteristics from the nature of the television channel's orientations, the vision of the talk show makers, and the goals they seek to achieve, which gives the communicator an influential role in framing legislative performance.

This study aimed to 1) elaborate the characteristics of communication strategies used by the American talk show host in “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” and the Indonesian talk show host in “Mata Najwa”, 2) disclose the similarities, and 3) disclose the differences of each host in performing the talk show. The data were collected by using a purposive sampling technique with samples as many as 16 host’s utterances of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” from one episode and 21 host’s utterances of “Mata Najwa” from one episode. The method of collecting data was used a tapping technique, such as Simak Bebas Libat Cakap (non-participant observation) and note-taking. Meanwhile, the method of analyzing data was a descriptive qualitative approach with four steps of work procedures. This study used a discourse analysis approach which was emphasized in the context of media communication. The result of analysis shows that the talk show hosts of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” and “Mata Najwa” use some strategies for the opening, the discussion process, and the closing. In the opening, both hosts use some particular strategies, such as pre-headline, headline, story, pre-introduction, and introduction. The next strategies used in the discussion process are minimal response, interruption, tag question, and repetition. Other strategies are also found in the closing section, such as pre-closing component and closing component. At last, it shows that there have been certain prototypes used by the talk show hosts, but it creates some particular characteristics as the differences between them in performing the talk show.

Bahasa merupakan alat komunikasi penting dalam interaksi seharian. This work aims to face an issue that underlies the political dimension of
today: to what extent politics and social media communication influence each other, to the point of provoking the constant contamination of the politician-influencer and influencer-politician figures. Through the reflection presented here, which starts from the theme of the infosphere and the swarm of citi-netizens in order to identify virtual hubs for the interpretation of reality, the authors will try to understand the cultural
change that forces the commercial and the political figures to become opinion leader of both fields. This also in order to identify the characteristics of a profiled citizen-voter, made a participant without his knowledge, in a process of defining the political image that finds its fulcrum (and filter) precisely in the digital, where he is both producer and consumer (subject and object) of communication.

Si tratta di una forma di leadership, ovvero di un’organizzazione partitica, che incrocia i processi di personalizzazione e di digitalizzazione della politica. In questo panorama figurano leader come Donald Trump, Jair Bolsonaro e Narendra Modi, che catalizzano l’identificazione collettiva attraverso pratiche di conquista del consenso spesso ai limiti della legalità. This study examines the role of laughter in media content, focusing on traditional non-humorous entertainment talk shows with hosts, guests and a studio audience. The analysis, which documents over 20,000 instances of laughter in just 60 episodes (one laugh every 20 s), highlights the central role of laughter in this reality. The study concludes that: (1) hosts laughed more than guests and studio audiences; (2) in the programmes analysed, female hosts generated almost twice as much laughter as male hosts; (3) laughter followed a recognisable ‘U-shaped’ pattern, peaking at the beginning and end of the programme; (4) jokes with sexual connotations elicited the highest levels of laughter; (5) public service episodes had fewer instances of laughter; and (6) the programme with the host who laughed the most had the largest audience. In conclusion, laughter provides not only emotional, but also ideological gratification, based on the (post)modern concept of happiness.

We explore employment of the Hebrew construction (\u27ani) lo yode\u27a / lo yoda\u27at (lit ‘[I] not M/F-SG.know’), roughly equivalent to English ‘I don’t know’, by callers and hosts in 80 interactions on Israeli political radio phonein programs, as compared with its functions in casual conversation. Five uses were attested in the corpus of radio phone-ins and correlated with the syntactic form of complementation (if available) for each token of the construction: (i) expressing literal lack of knowledge; (ii) expressing epistemic stance of uncertainty / hedging; (iii) gaining cognitive processing time in the midst of self-repair; (iv) expressing affective stance of contempt or criticism; and (v) avoidance strategies. There is the Oscar Bernard won with his partner, poet and screenwriter Paul Dehn, for writing the original story for the Boulting Brothers anti-nuclear thriller Seven Days to Noon (1950). There are the scores he wrote for stage plays such as Michael Redgrave's 1959 The Aspern Papers and the 1961 Old Vic Twelfth Night. There is the musical Virtue in Danger he wrote with Paul Dehn, based on Sir John Vanbrugh's 1696 Restoration comedy The Relapse, which featured a memorable performance by Patricia Routledge but had only a short run at the Mermaid Theatre, in 1963. Bernard's last Hammer film score was The Legend of the Seven Golden Vampires in 1974. Soon afterwards, in 1976, his partner Paul Dehn died and as the work dried up, Bernard went to live in Jamaica and composed nothing for five years. There was a revival of interest in his work in the 1990s, invitations to film conventions, the recording of some of his film scores on CD and a new commission to write the score for the restored print of Murnau's silent classic Nosferatu (1922) and he was kept busy until his death in 2001. He asked for the 'Awakening and Absolution' music from The Devil Rides Out to be played at his funeral, having been, like the director Terence Fisher, a firm believer in the existence of the permanent struggle between the powers of good and the powers of evil. This is a thorough, detailed and rounded picture of the man and his work and a fitting tribute to one of Britain's most notable and distinctive film composers.

Utilizing a phenomenological approach, the research combines poetry, photography, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) analysis to explore the symbolic and emotional connections between the sun and human experience. The article charts the evolution of Ghar Parivar or Home and Family (1972-mid-1980s), and Ghar Bahar or Home and Outside (1979-late 1980s), two early women’s programmes, from being classified as ‘programmes for minority’ in TV listings to becoming significant counter-public spheres that steered national discussions from a ‘women’s perspective.’ A historic and contentious Ghar Bahar episode is examined as a media event comprising of an interview with a session’s judge about the unprecedented verdict in a dowry murder case that served as national testimony and led to significant legal reforms. This event showcases one of the first charged encounters between the Indian judiciary system and the new medium of television. In the absence of original programs, the article conducts textual historicism by rediscovering the critical episode and controversy surrounding it from a legal ruling that contains the Indian judiciary's detailed description of the lost program.

This rootedness signifies a deliberate effort: an effort to cultivate a sense of belonging to one's origins, to seamlessly blend the richness of past heritage with present realities, and to convey a philosophical perspective through an affectionate portrayal of nature and humanity's inherent aspirations. This effort has the exquisite power to gently guide any reader into the deepest recesses of their own mind, unveiling the radiant essence of their true self. In this regard, Preetinicha Barman’s poetry collection, My Body Floating with Hyacinths, emerges as a sublime and harmonious creation. Each poem unfurls with a profound sense of individualism and a fervent, almost ethereal passion for both the human spirit and the world beyond, crafting a delicate and enchanting tapestry of beauty and introspection. This poetry collection, consisting of 70 poems, is divided into four parts, each adorned with a deep meaningful subtitle: “You May Not Believe My Story,” “We Had Emerged Out of Chaos,” “Let the River Narrate Her Own Tale,” and “My Body Floating with Hyacinths.” Barman is adept at expressing a wide range of emotions and feelings; and this is evident from the very first glimpse of her book’s title and subtitles. Though there is a splendid variety and breadth in the emotions, subjects, and gestures in the composition of the poems across each segment, every verse is imbued with a deep and abiding devotion to the essence of Indian philosophy, and a subtle connection to romanticism.

Comedy performs duties for a double motive: making people chuckle and determining their point of view. This study examines how comedy on the Pakistani news channel, particularly the program Hasnaa Mana Hy, establishes and strengthens community specifications and how it influences societal norms and stereotypes. Critical discourse analysis reveals that the show usually targets external appearance, overweight, complexion, gender, cultural background, and citizenship, enhancing negative preconceptions and prejudgments. The research highlights the inequality faced by those considered "unattractive" and addresses social injustice, acknowledging their roles in perpetuating prejudice. It is finalized by programming on television networks and humorists to recognize their role in fostering prejudice and discrimination and promoting diversity and honor for all persons and teams instead of maintaining current discrimination. The study advocates comedy programs to challenge harmful stereotypes and promote positive change. Media regulators and advocacy groups should hold comedians and networks accountable for perpetuating dangerous stereotypes. Furthermore, the study highlights the need for television networks to recognize the impact of their words on the audience and take responsibility for their actions. In this way, we can create a society where people can laugh without fearing ridicule or misjudge. The study sheds light on how these comedic programs are influencing our culture. It illustrates the psychological elements of comedy and how it affects people's thoughts. We should use comedy as a tool to spread positivity rather than using it to mock others.

This paper presents a novel exploration of applied semiotics in the design of digital technologies aimed at the elderly, particularly through the development of a social media platform tailored to their needs. Building on Umberto Ecoís semiotic framework and addressing the progressive aging of the population alongside the ubiquity of digital technology, we propose a shift in how digital platforms are designed for senior users. The research identies a gap in current digital solutions, which often overlook the elderly, resulting in a digital divide exacerbated by the recent COVID-19 pandemic. By rethinking digital platforms with a focus on the digital representation of faces, we aim to foster intergenerational connections that transcend mere syntactic links, emphasizing semantic relationships built on shared narratives and memories. This endeavor is grounded in a critical literature review that intersects elderly individuals, digital technology, and face representation, highlighting current limitations while offering recommendations for future directions. A semiotic perspective on technology design for the elderly is proposed, promising a more inclusive digital landscape that acknowledges the elderly not just as users but as active participants in a socially connected community. The proposed platform focuses on preserving and sharing elderly memories with extended families, leveraging the centrality of the face in digital communication to promote genuine intergenerational engagement. The signicance of this work lies in its methodological and cultural objective to redene ìappliedî in semiotics, advocating for a design that impacts real-life through digital innovation in harmony with technical and engineering knowledge. By prioritizing narrative and emotional connections, the project endeavors to restore semantic depth to digital face representations, challenging the prevailing commercial nature of social platforms and envisioning a digital space that values authentic human connections over quantitative interactions.

This article aims to identify and discuss the politeness strategies in the perbilangan adat (customary sayings) in the adat perpatih. The data for this research are the customary sayings used in four negotiation events of the adat perpatih: istiadat kerjan (appointment ceremony), istiadat memulih pusako (reinstatement ceremony), istiadat berkodim (change of clan ceremony) and the engagement ceremony. The data is analysed qualitatively using politeness principles (Leech, 1983). The findings show that the politeness strategies in the customary sayings, particularly those used in negotiations to send a certain message, reflect in the implied meanings of the utterances of the speaker. The linguistic features of the customary sayings, which include figurative language, euphemisms and local dialect or expressions, result in politeness in communication, and cooperation among the participants involved in the negotiations.

This essay examines Korean television shows that feature foreigners encountering Korean society. A recent example, Non Summit, presents a series of formal “summits,” borrowing the format of an international strategic meeting. The show enables Koreans to consider issues involving cultural differences, racial discrimination, and national hospitality, particularly related to immigrants. Indeed, Korean TV shows that focus on foreigners living in Korea are increasingly popular, which surely reflects changes in the Korean racial imagination along with the increased number of immigrants entering Korea in recent years. Nevertheless, despite their stated purpose of encouraging Korea to be a more harmonious multicultural society, programs like Non Summit seem to reproduce racialized colonialism in the context of contemporary global capitalism, particularly through their selections of participants and their efforts to paper over revealed cultural tensions.

A questão da intimidade e da sua devassa nos media e da sua exploração pelas tecnologias nunca foi tão debatida como nestes últimos dez anos. No âmbito deste trabalho, pretendeu-se identificar as condições de emergência, os dispositivos e os tópicos do que chamamos o “íntimo-quotidiano” na televisão francesa, no caso da TF1 e na televisão portuguesa, no caso da SIC. Ao adoptar uma perspectiva diacrónica (1986-2000, para a TF1, 1992-2000, para a SIC) e transcultural, foi-nos possível observar como a vida privada do cidadão comum se expõe e como é codificada. Através de uma análise comparada, o nosso propósito foi o de identificar os desvios semióticos e os aspectos convergentes nessa exposição, assim como o de verificar se as representações e os discursos diferem entre as duas estações. Num mundo cada vez mais globalizado, tentámos apreender as nuances e os graus de pudor e de impudor que caracterizam estes dois universos audiovisuais.

Los talk e info shows son exponentes de la pragmática del periodismo popular en televisión, que fabrica historias utilizando como protagonista a la gente ordinaria (no profesional). Este trabajo representa una aproximación preliminar a ese asunto, a partir del reporte de observaciones de un periodo de investigación de campo, destinado a elaborar datos e interpretaciones con un enfoque cualitativo.

The interest in this teaching method, with particular reference to the primary school, is consistent with the changes in European educational programs that are realizing the value of introducing topics such as programming, computer science and computational thinking in the curricula. These changes stimulate scientific debate and lead us to make a critical reading of the results emerged from this experimentation in apulia classroom, with regard to the impact on the curriculum, but also on learning outcomes and teaching practices. This reasoning is conducted based on stimula and research lines promoted by scientific literature. These findings represent the query criteria for qualitative data, acquired by the experience, in order to confirm certain conditions whether or not and to understand their variation with respect to the disciplines involved in the trial, to technology integration and to class dynamics triggered in the italian context. "Docenti InFormAzione" 1 è il percorso formativo all'interno del progetto EDOC@Work3.0 2 rivolto alle scuole pugliesi in cui è stata sperimentata la metodologia del Coding. L'interesse per questo metodo didattico, con particolare riferimento alla scuola primaria, è in linea con i cambiamenti dei programmi scolastici europei che stanno comprendendo il valore di introdurre temi come la programmazione, la computer science e il pensiero computazionale nei curricola. Tali cambiamenti stimolano il dibattito scientifico e ci guidano in una lettura critica dei risultati emersi dall'esperienza nelle aule pugliesi rispetto non solo ad un primo impatto sul curricolo, ma anche sugli apprendimenti e sulle pratiche didattiche messe a sistema dai docenti. Questo ragionamento viene condotto sulla base degli stimoli e delle linee di pensiero promosse dalla letteratura scientifica sul tema. Tali studi rappresentano le piste di interrogazione dei dati qualitativi acquisiti dalla esperienza nelle classi pugliesi al fine di confermare o meno alcune condizioni e comprenderne la declinazione rispetto alle discipline coinvolte nella sperimentazione, all'integrazione tecnologica e alle dinamiche di classe attivate nel contesto italiano.

In Against Silence the history of the spirit is the story of the self in particular landscapes and the prophecy of general demise. This new book is elegiac, lamenting the poet's old age, America, and the natural world dying out from under us. He argues that "Every serious work of art about America has the same / theme: America // is a great IDEA: the reality leaves something to be desired." Poems looking back at Bidart's childhood in California note the racial and ethnic prejudice earlier generations freely voiced. He also reports that even in childhood he sensed the degradation of nature in the exploitation of California's fragile landscape: "we have succeeded at last in killing NATURE." ("At the Shore"). Various Bidart personae blurt rhetorical proclamations like this. But the voice in this instance is the early one of "California Plush," the poet speaking for himself, as himself, in self-effacing tones his friends might in conversation.

O artigo foca-se na caracterização do talk show sobre saúde Diga Doutor, na sua qualidade de género e de formato televisivo. A moldura teórica são os estudos televisivos e o método é o qualitativo, que inclui a entrevista semiestruturada e em profundidade à editora de conteúdos e ao médico-apresentador do programa, a análise da retórica a 12 episódios da última temporada do programa e o focus group composto por seis idosos, para assim se explorar respetivamente três componentes da comunicação: o emissor, a mensagem e o recetor. Os resultados indicam, sob a perspetiva do emissor, o compromisso com uma solução heterogénea e rica e a adoção de um estilo similar ao da consulta clínica, que permite, televisivamente, atingir o “maior número de pessoas possível”, sem se ser “demasiado simplista”. A análise à mensagem revela a diversidade temática e a presença de argumentos ligados ao ethos, pathos e logos, da retórica de Aristóteles. Os recetores realçam os contributos cognitivos, afetivos e comportamentais do programa, mostrando a articulação entre a identidade do programa e o gosto do público. O formato do programa manifesta-se nas sub-rotinas, como: o foco no “interesse público” e em “assuntos importantes” sobre saúde, a estrutura composicional, o segmento de comunicação interpessoal entre médico e telespetador, a presença in loco de especialistas e pacientes que partilham os seus testemunhos relacionados com a doença e/ou com a sua superação, os critérios de seleção do médico convidado e do paciente, a presença do “lado humano”.
