NÚMERO 18 • AÑO 2025 PATRIMONIO CULTURAL RESUMEN Se pretende, desde una perspectiva sociológica, analizar las tendencias del patrimonio cultural en la comarca de la Hoya de Buñol-Chiva. Se comienza recordando el carácter de construcción social moderna del concepto de patrimonio cultural, para destacar después su vínculo con el de tradición en una sociedad secularizada. Se indica después el proceso de destradicionalización y retradicionalización selectiva que ha experimentado la comarca. Concebido como una manera de gestionar la tradición moderna, el patrimonio cultural tiene una doble lógica: de activación de identidades locales y de enriquecimiento a través de la sacralización de la autenticidad; lógicas que obedecen a intereses frecuentemente contrapuestos. Se analizan las características del patrimonio oficial, señalando cómo éste deja fuera parte del patrimonio efectivamente vivido. Se señalan a continuación algunas paradojas que se producen en la construcción del patrimonio cultural, como la ontológica, la metodológica y la ecológica, así como las luchas culturales que se expresan a través de distintas manifestaciones de éste. Después, se destaca el fuerte vínculo entre patrimonio cultural y turismo, producto de la economización de la autenticidad que caracteriza al nuevo capitalismo. Finalmente, se recurre a las tesis de Walter Benjamin para destacar algunos peligros de estas dinámicas, y se señalan algunas posibilidades alternativas derivadas de iniciativas de la sociedad civil.

En las ultimas decadas, los humedales del Delta del Parana se han conformado como un territorio en disputa entre multiples agentes sociales. Desde hace algunos anos, agentes extra-locales remarcan que se trata de un ecosistema que amerita ser cuidado, y resaltan su importancia en terminos de provision de bienes y servicios ecosistemicos. O objetivo desse artigo é identificar possíveis ações e estratégias do design na valorização do território e dos recursos relacionados à gastronomia regional, no contexto da Economia Criativa, a partir da seleção e análise de um conjunto de iniciativas. Inicialmente apresenta-­‐se o referencial teórico que fundamenta as discussões em torno das contribuições do design para a valorização do território. São apresentadas e analisadas quatro iniciativas: Instituto Atá, no Brasil, La Jeune Rue, na França, Grandma’s Design, na Holanda, e Eataly, de origem Italiana. O resultado obtido a partir da análise é um conjunto de potenciais focos de atuação do designer na valorização da cultura gastronômica do território.

The author of the research examines the range of problems associated with the functioning of folklore texts in the context of the diaspora tradition by appealing to the field materials collected in one of the Circassian enclaves of Central Anatolia (Uzunyayla – Kayseri) between 2009-2019. The research report is intended for specialists in the field of folklore and ethnology, as well as for a general audience.

A pesquisa tem por objetivo principal identificar as patologias e intervenções presentes na obra "Senhoras Tomando Chá". Verificar se os materiais empregados nessas intervenções se encontram em bom estado de conservação ou se estão prejudicando a integridade física e interferindo na leitura estética da obra. Um dos principais pontos deste trabalho é a discussão sobre a remoção ou não das intervenções anteriores. Resumo
Apesar de abranger realidades estudadas pelas Ciências Sociais e Humanas desde longa data, o conceito de património cultural imaterial (PCI) surgiu recentemente na esfera da cooperação internacional. Foi na convenção dedicada à sua salvaguarda, promulgada pela UNESCO em 2003, que ficou explanada a sua definição, bem como os respetivos âmbitos e propósitos. Este ato normativo comtempla ainda a possibilidade de as manifestações intangíveis integrarem dois inventários internacionais: a “Lista do PCI da Humanidade que Necessita de Salvaguarda Urgente” e a “Lista Representativa do PCI da Humanidade”. Este artigo dá conta da candidatura em curso das tradições do Vinho Madeira a esta segunda lista. Pretende-se abordar a forma como a equipa multidisciplinar de investigadores da Universidade da Madeira, encarregados de levar a cabo essa tarefa, tem implementado ações concretas articuladas numa estratégia que permita ir ao encontro dos preceitos plasmados no documento fundador. Partindo do que os Estados Partes acordaram, iremos analisar, volvidos 22 anos, as mudanças nas arenas do património, induzidas pela sua entrada em vigor.  Iremos também explicar como surgiu a ideia e quais são as motivações desta iniciativa bottom up. Assinalaremos ainda algumas das suas especificidades que influíram na estratégia delineada para atingir o objetivo pretendido. De seguida, descreveremos a forma como os valores e os princípios que substanciam o PCI foram incorporados nas ações que estão a ser levadas a cabo para obter o reconhecimento da UNESCO. Veremos ainda como a elevação à Lista Representativa não é a única finalidade, mas um passo importante em direção a uma comunidade patrimonial, que urge constituir para viabilizar as tradições do Vinho Madeira na longa duração. Assim, podemos concluir que patrimonializar não é salvar o que resta do nosso passado, mas sim escolher o futuro que queremos trilhar juntos.

Abstract
Although it encompasses realities long studied by the Social Sciences and Humanities, the concept of Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) only recently emerged within the sphere of international cooperation. It was the 2003 UNESCO Convention for its safeguarding that laid out its definition, scope, and purposes. This normative act also provides for the possibility of intangible manifestations being inscribed on two international inventories: the “List of ICH in Need of Urgent Safeguarding” and the “Representative List of the ICH of Humanity”. This article presents the ongoing nomination of the Madeira Wine traditions to the latter list.

It discusses how the multidisciplinary research team from the University of Madeira, tasked with carrying out this process, has implemented concrete actions as part of a strategy designed to meet the principles laid out in the founding UNESCO document. Drawing on what the State Parties agreed upon, the article reviews, 22 years later, the transformations in the heritage landscape brought about by the Convention’s enforcement.

We also explain how the idea for this bottom-up initiative came about and what motivations underpin it. Several specificities that have shaped the strategic approach adopted for achieving the nomination are highlighted. The article then describes how the values and principles underpinning ICH have been incorporated into the actions taken to obtain UNESCO recognition. It further argues that inclusion in the Representative List is not an end in itself, but rather an important step toward building a heritage community — something urgently needed to ensure the long-term viability of Madeira Wine traditions.

Ultimately, we conclude that heritage-making is not about saving what is left of our past, but about choosing the future we wish to create together.

The research explores how cultural initiatives can promote urban development and international recognition.  The primary focus is on the policies implemented, the institutions involved, and their effectiveness in achieving France's broader objectives for the city. The research methodology includes a critical documentary analysis and semistructured interviews with key stakeholders. The dissertation evaluates a range of cultural initiatives aimed at rejuvenating the city and boosting its global attractiveness. By examining Marseille’s branding efforts, including its selection as the European Capital of Culture in 2013 and other noteworthy projects, the dissertation addresses a crucial gap in understanding the practical effects of these cultural strategies on cities. The findings underscore the potential and constraints of using culture as a tool for urban development and international recognition. While the cultural designation significantly boosted tourism and increased the city's global visibility, challenges such as maintaining long-term engagement and ensuring equitable distribution of benefits among the city's diverse communities have emerged. The dissertation concludes with reflections on the broader implications of Marseille's experience for other cities seeking to leverage cultural assets for urban transformation. It offers critical insights into how cultural initiatives can be harnessed to achieve sustainable urban and economic development goals. Este estudo objetivou investigar quais são as estratégias empregadas nas páginas da internet para comunicar as ações de acessibilidade do Museu Casa de Portinari. Para desenvolvimento da pesquisa foi realizada uma
investigação documental que foi norteada pelos princípios da análise de conteúdo em consonância com as proposições da Gestalt. A análise revela a relação entre a sistematização da comunicação nas plataformas com
o aprimoramento dos serviços de acessibilidade ofertados pelo museu. Ao longo do tempo o imóvel onde está instalado o museu se constituiu como principal elemento da identidade visual do espaço museológico e como importante símbolo do projeto de acessibilidade em sua versão de maquete tátil. A conjunção de elementos linguísticos e visuais vincula o projeto de acessibilidade com a vida e as obras de Candido Portinari, conferindo um tom afetivo à comunicação. O estudo reafirma que o processo de acessibilidade perpassa pela disponibilização e comunicação dos recursos acessíveis.

Pudak from Gresik is not merely a traditional dessert; it is a cultural heritage that embodies historical, social, and symbolic values. This delicacy is made from a mixture of rice flour, coconut milk, and palm sugar, wrapped in siwalan (lontar) leaves. This article discusses pudak as a form of non-verbal folklore using a descriptive-qualitative approach, examining its physical characteristics, traditional preparation process, symbolic meanings, and its role in the local community. The siwalan leaf wrapper, which is uniquely sourced from native coastal trees in Gresik, represents the close relationship between the people and their natural environment. Pudak not only pleases the palate but also reinforces the identity and collective memory of the Gresik people. Each slice of pudak serves as a sweet and soft-textured love letter from the past.

Abstrak

Pudak dari Gresik bukan semata-mata kudapan tradisional yang disajikan dalam
momen perayaan, tetapi juga identitas kultural masyarakat pesisir Jawa Timur.
Dibuat dari bahan-bahan lokal seperti tepung beras, santan kelapa, dan gula jawa,
serta dibungkus daun siwalan. pudak menjadi simbol hubungan antara manusia,
alam, dan warisan leluhur. Melalui pendekatan deskriptif-kualitatif, artikel ini
mengkaji pudak sebagai bentuk folklor dudu lisan yakni budaya yang diwariskan
melalui benda dan praktik, bukan melalui bahasa atau lisan. Pembahasan meliputi
dimensi historis, proses pembuatan, makna simbolis, fungsi sosial-ekonomi, hingga
dinamika pelestariannya di tengah era modern. Pudak tidak sekadar menawarkan
cita rasa manis dan tekstur lembut, melainkan juga menyampaikan narasi
kebersahajaan, nilai spiritual, serta kontinuitas budaya lokal. Pudak, dengan segala
kesederhanaannya, menjadi bentuk komunikasi budaya yang tidak mengandalkan
kata, tetapi menyentuh lewat rasa dan pengalaman inderawi.

Abstract

Rawon, a traditional Javanese culinary Indonesian dish form the city of Surabaya with its iconic black soup, not only offers rich flavors, but also holds layers of non-oral folklore passed down from generation to generation. This article aims to delve deeper into the “unwritten story” behind rawon, exploring the practices, symbolism and cultural values hidden in this culinary tradition rooted in the kitchens of our ancestors. The main focus is on how aspects such as the selection of typical ingrediens, rituals in the cooking process that are full of meaning, to the way rawon is served, reflecting local wisdom and intangible knowledge that is often not explicitly documented. Through this exploration, it is hoped to reveal how this non-oral folklore contributes to shaping rawon’s culinary identity, enriching our understanding of Indonesia’s intangible cultural heritage, and underscoring the importance of rawon not only as a delicacy but also as a medium of living cultural heritage.

Abstrak

Rawon, hidangan khas Indonesia kuliner tradisional Jawa dari Kota Surabaya dengan kuah hitamnya yang ikonik, tidak hanya menawarkan cita rasa yang kaya, tetapi juga menyimpan lapisan folklor bukan lisan yang diwariskan dari generasi ke generasi. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk menggali lebih dalam “cerita tak tertulis” di balik rawon, menelusuri praktik, simbolisme, dan nilai-nilai budaya yang tersembunyi dalam tradisi kuliner yang berakar dari dapur nenek moyang. Fokus utama adalah bagaimana aspek-aspek seperti pemilihan bahan khas, ritual dalam proses memasak yang sarat makna, hingga tata cara penyajian rawon, merefleksikan kearifan lokal dan pengetahuan tak benda seringkali tidak terdokumentasikan secara eksplisit. Melalui penelusuran ini, diharapkan dapat terungkap bagaimana folklor bukan lisan ini berkontribusi dalam membentuk identitas kuliner rawon, memperkaya pemahaman kita akan warisan budaya tak benda Indonesia, dan menggarisbawahi pentingnya rawon tidak hanya sebagai makanan lezat tetapi juga sebagai medium pewarisan budaya yang hidup.

This article explores different measurements of (sub-)national identities in survey research and examines to what extent they lead to different results. Using survey data from Belgium, where there is a long-standing tradition of (sub-)national identity surveys, three types of questions are scrutinized: the “hierarchical” question (asking respondents to which of a list of given identities they feel most closely related in first and second place), the “Linz-Moreno” question (asking respondents to situate their regional and national identities vis-à-vis each other), and the more recent “metric” question (asking respondents to situate themselves on distinct eleven-point scales for multiple identities). This article analyses the extent to which respondents answer these questions consistently, how varying degrees of consistency can be explained, and what this tells us about the way social scientists measure (sub-)national identities. The results show that, depending on the question, only 39.4 percent to 69.2 percent of the respondents answered the three (sub-)national identity questions consistently. Differences in consistency are found to be not only related to respondents’ political knowledge and interest, but also to the question forms and wording, leading us to reflect on the validity of identity measurements.

Zsigmond Teleki, a viticulturist, winemaker, and wine wholesaler (1854–1910), played a key role in the replanting of vineyards after the phylloxera crisis. Teleki is undoubtedly one of the most significant figures in both Baranya's and Hungary’s economic history, yet his role in local and national memory culture is far from uniform.
This study aims to analyze how the perception of Teleki has evolved within professional circles of viticulturists and winemakers, in local communities, and how his legacy has transformed into a tourist attraction and a brand name. The research is primarily based on the analysis of published literature and press sources. The findings reveal the complex interconnections and mutual influences among these three layers, ultimately shaping a distinct Villány-specific image and identity element.
Exploring the memory of Zsigmond Teleki through this case study can contribute to a deeper understanding of certain aspects of the relationship between a community’s organic historical memory and local identity.

The following article is based on the understanding of the key cultural significance of the Revival periodicals during the transition from a traditional to a modern society. It functions as a window into the achievements of civilized Europe while simultaneously serving as a mirror reflecting the processes of modernization in Bulgarian Revival society. Its communicative power manifests in various roles – as a platform for analyses and debate, a means of providing information (educational, practical, sensational), and an outlet for concerns and anxieties brought about by the relentless march of progress. It is precisely on the pages of Revival periodicals that the dual attitude towards modernization is most vividly expressed – the coexistence of aspirations for progress and Europeanization alongside the prejudices and constraints of a traditionally conservative mentality.

A través del presente trabajo abordamos muestras culturales en contextos de conflicto socioambiental. Teóricamente ponemos en diálogo los abordajes de Michel Foucault sobre el mercado como sistema de veridicción y subjetivación, las necesarias consideraciones desde la Economía Política y las perspectivas folkcomunicacionales que, mediante el análisis de las manifestaciones en sus propios contextos, nos han permitido dar cuenta del carácter activo y resistente de los actores locales incluso cuando se apropian de mecanismos dominantes. Presentamos una primera aproximación a dos manifestaciones en conflicto socioambiental donde se produce una apropiación local crítica de algunas
estructuras dominantes para configurar instancias de comunicación colectiva y resistencia ante megaproyectos.

O artigo realiza um relato de experiência das atividades de apoio ao salvamento de acervos museais e arquivísticos alagados na cidade de Porto Alegre em 2024, que foram realizadas por estudantes extensionistas vinculados a três projetos de Extensão do Departamento de História do Instituto de Filosofia e Ciências Humanas da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul. Os museus são espaços que devem priorizar a preservação do patrimônio cultural e extroversão, priorizando a pluralidade do público que o visita, sendo a acessibilidade seu norte para tal finalidade. Mas além dos museus com suas salas expositivas e espaços pensados para esse propósito, existem em várias instituições de guarda reservas técnicas que hoje são pensadas não apenas como um espaço fechado e isolado do público, mas também como um espaço que pode promover a propagação do conhecimento científico cultural proporcionando educação patrimonial e pública. O objetivo deste trabalho é pensar como que Reservas Técnicas que abrem suas portas à visitação podem ser também acessíveis a públicos com necessidades educativas especiais. Como forma de proporcionar uma nova relação das pessoas com os objetos culturais, as instituições de guarda tem se colocado como possibilidade de também fazer extroversão do conhecimento em seus espaços e com o avanço das tecnologias, faz-se necessário pensar adequações para que públicos com necessidades especiais tenham acesso também as Reservas Técnicas.

The book is formatted as an index of individual family members with key biographical details, photographs and extracts from various sources collected over the years. The book has over 300 pages of life stories of members of the Cottam, Moon, Prescott, Taylor and Warbrick families. The life stories include religious conversions, tragic deaths, details of married life, the births of children, burials, poetry, interviews, extracts of newspaper articles, paintings, wartime stories, emigration, illustrations of key events, religious tracts, details of people’s careers, pictures of gravestones and letters. This book embodies an ethnography of the lives of several families in Lancashire using a methodology of family history.

Cultural tourism around the world is big business. Tourism stakeholders within tourism destinations understandably work hard to develop brands and images that entice cultural tourists to visit. However, when tourism stakeholders involved in this process do not prioritise host community selfknowledge, cultural integrity is compromised and cultural distortion inevitably arises. The purpose of this paper is to raise the issue of congruity between tourism brand and tourist experience, and to make a plea for the consideration of history in the imaging, branding and interpretation processes. The conclusion is that the effective use of local history can illuminate host community self-knowledge for the benefit of both cultural tourist and host community.

La escala de participación escolar fue diseñada por John-Akinola y Nic-Gabhainn (2014) para evaluar la participación escolar desde la percepción de los propios estudiantes. La presente investigación tuvo como objetivo principal conocer las propiedades psicométricas de este cuestionario, a través de una aplicación colectiva a 1428 estudiantes de escuelas secundarias del centro-sur de Chile (53% mujeres), con edades entre 12 y 21 años (M=15.59; DE =1.52). El análisis factorial confirmatorio mostró un buen ajuste a los datos para el modelo bifactorial probado y los coeficientes de consistencia interna de las escalas fueron adecuados. Los resultados sugieren que la versión en español del cuestionario de participación escolar es un instrumento válido y confiable para evaluar este constructo en estudiantes chilenos.

In the wake of spacial turn, we are currently observing in literature a growing interest in space, of which geopoetics is one aspect. The book Geopoetyka. Związki literatury i środowiska by Anna Kronenberg was submitted as her doctoral dissertation at the Department of Theory of Literature, Institute of Contemporary Culture at the University of Łódź. The author is known for her interest in geopoetics, ecocriticism, ecofeminism and Polish immigration literature. The reviewer of Kronenberg’s work focuses on the geopoetical value of the young researcher from Łódź. She is praised for the metaphorical character of her study and her involvement reaching far beyond the academia. On the other hand however, it is pointed out that she is unable to develop Kenneth White’s thought in the scientific discourse, as compared with Elżbieta Rybicka who does so on assumption so to speak

This paper deals with an underground chamber tomb found at the Kızılkuyu area of Armutçuk Mahallesi in the Ula district of the province of Muğla and excavated in 2021. The rural area between today’s Çiçekli Mahallesi and the Ula district center was in antiquity part of the koinon of the Ola[i]es (Ολα[ι]ες), first attested in 453 / 452 BC. It gave its name to modern Ula. The grave is carved entirely into the bedrock and contains an entrance room, a two-room chamber with five sarcophagusshaped burials, and four niches for cremation urns or grave goods. The Kızılkuyu tomb is one of the important and unique examples in the region for several surprising and impressive reasons: the benches for ritual use in the entrance room, a relief with serpent and egg, the clockwise symposium-like arrangement of pillows on the burial beds, and the creation of the impression of a chamber tomb built of ashlar blocks in the first room. The grave seems to have belonged to a wealthy local family and was used for around 200 years between the late fourth / third century BC and the beginning of the first century BC. This dating is based on ceramic finds. During this time, the region was part of the mainland territory of Rhodes (Rhodian peraia).

The first major overview of the sub-national periodical as an international phenomenon, from the seventeenth century to the present day. This edited collection will examine how the magazine as a media form relates to the cultures, identities, geographies, histories, politics and economics of the region and other sub-national administrative and geographical areas. Magazines are usually associated with the metropolis, with capital cities, and with national and international movements and identities, for example Paris Match or the modernist titles Blast (London), Noi (Rome) or The Dial (New York). But what happens to the magazine when it appears in the provinces, the periphery, the regions, the counties -for example ¡Hola! (Barcelona), the Double Dealer (New Orleans), Cheshire Life (Middlewich, Manchester, Chester) or De Stijl (Delft, Leiden)? Equally, studies of print culture and geographical identities have focused mainly on the nation, occasionally on the local, but almost never on those administrative units between national and local: county, province, region, oblast, canton, département, voivodeship, federal state, Bundesland, etc. This edited collection aims to expand this area of scholarship, and invites contributions on a neglected magazine genre, from any era or nation, exploring such questions as:

RESUMO -O presente estudo teve como objetivo investigar o estado do conhecimento que evidencie a etnoeducação em prol dos povos tradicionais e originários no Brasil, em especial na Amazônia brasileira. O estado do conhecimento é essencial para mapear os principais estudos sobre esses fenômenos. A etnoeducação é um importante recurso, cujo objetivo principal é valorizar o conhecimento produzido por esses povos, sobretudo, abrangendo áreas como o artesanato, a cultura, as danças, os saberes socioculturais os conhecimentos tradicionais, entre outros. A metodologia utilizada consistiu em uma pesquisa bibliográfica, utilizando como método de mapeamento, a revisão integrativa da literatura em duas bases de dados: Scielo e Periódicos da Capes. Os resultados evidenciaram que existem poucos estudos que destacam a etnoeducação, especialmente no que se refere às comunidades tradicionais no Brasil e na Amazônia brasileira. Destaca-se ainda que, a maioria dos estudos se concentra no desenvolvimento de projetos de extensão.

The Structure of the Estate, the Society and Political Institutions of Derbyshire in the Late Fourteenth and First Half of the Fifteenth Century RICHÁRD SZÁNTÓ Hungarian scholars made numerous comparative works on the history of Hungary and Western Europe, but many studies do not contain an explanation of the historical terminology of Western European countries. The conclusions of these studies were inexact because of the incomplete knowledge of the historical terminology of medieval England or other countries. The first aim of this dissertation is to give an exact introduction to the late medieval English terminology. Derbyshire served as a model for this research because it was not a coastal shire, therefore it is comparable to a Hungarian county. The other purpose of this work was the detailed description of the structure of the estate, society, and political institutions in Derbyshire in the late Middle Ages. The dissertation consists of three parts: (1) the settlements and the structure of the estate of Derbyshire, (2) the society of the shire, (3) the political institutions of the shire. The appendix of the dissertation includes 23 tables and 10 maps. The tables comprise the names of the settlements and the names of the lords of the fees and villages; the color maps were made to depict the structure of the estates in Derbyshire. The first part of the dissertation, the maps and the tables of the appendix, were based on the data from the following sources: Domesday Survey Descriptive, Descriptive Catalogue of Derbyshire Charters, Calendar of Inquisition Post Mortem, the collection of the Feudal History of County of Derby, Inquisition and Assessments Relating to Feudal Aids, Placita de Quo Warranto, and Valor Ecclesiasticus. The lists of poll taxes, lay subsidies, and lists of the tithe were useful sources for the description of the society of Derbyshire in the second part of the work. The sources of the medieval English law, charters, statutes, and the books of the medieval English lawyers were taken into consideration in the description of the social structure, and their data were important to the description of the political institutions. The listing of the estates and their lords in tabular form was the basis for the maps. The tables contain the names of the lords of the honors, fees and villages and the dates of the sources. Иако су прва антрополошка проучавања настала као последица колонијалних освајања и сусрета са новим и другачијим културама, истраживање миграција као феномена вредног пажње по себи и за себе дошло је у антропологију знатно касније. Постоји више разлога за то. Једни произилазе из концептуално-теоријских ограничења која су следила из доминантних научних парадигми, други спадају у домен истраживачких политика, које, са своје стране, зависе од ширих друштвених и политичких кретања, док су трећи "онтолошки", тј. садржани су у ономе што антропологију чини антропологијом, а односе се пре свега на њен предмет и метод. У овом тексту представљам динамику промена парадигми антрополошког проучавања миграција и разматрам проблеме класификације и производње знања. Кључне речи: антропологија, миграције, парадигме, класификације, производња знања Although the first anthropological studies were the result of colonial conquests and encounters with new and different cultures, the study of migrations as a phenomenon worth of the attention for itself came to the anthropology much later. There are several reasons for this. Some arise from the conceptual-theoretical limitations that followed from the dominant scientific paradigms, others belong to the domain of research policies, which in turn are dependent on wider social and political movements, while the last are "ontological", i.e, they are contained in what anthropology is, and they are primarily related to its object and method. In this text, I am presenting the dynamics of the changes of paradigms through which the anthropologists dealt with the study of migrations and discussing some of the problems of classification and knowledge production.
