Kipchaks - Cumans

The name Kipchak was encountered for the first time in the Şine-Usu inscription in the 8th century, and their presence in the historical scene can be traced back to the 11th century. Kipchak Turkish is located within the Western branch of the Middle Turkish Period, and the westward migrations of more than one Turkish tribe had an influence on the formation of Kipchak Turkish. It includes a part of the Eastern European geography and is located between the Don River and the Danube River; Kipchak Turkish was used in Crimea, Ukraine, Lithuania, Poland and Hungary, and many works were created in this region. Eastern European Kipchak Turkish means: Cuman Turkish, Kipchak Turkish with Armenian Letters, Karay Turkish and Crimean-Tatar Turkish. Eastern European Kipchak Turkish is classified as historical representatives and contemporary representatives based on its written language. While the historical representatives of Eastern European Kipchak Turkish are Cuman Turkish and Kipchak Turkish with Armenian Letters; Its contemporary representatives are Karay Turkish and Crimean-Tatar Turkish. In this study, we examined the books, master's and doctoral theses, and articles on Eastern European Kipchak Turkish that we could access; We will try to evaluate the studies specifically in terms of phonetics.

The nomads, adapted to the extremely harsh living conditions in the Eurasian steppe zone, wandered with their herds of animals through contract- territories. However, natural disasters, pestilences or overexploitation of land contributed to the search for new pastures, which often resulted in military conflicts. War was not only a method of expanding the borders of nomads, control over trade routes and neighbouring populations, and expanding the boundaries of political influence were all at stake. Rituals that can be categorised as war magic were used to ensure the success of war expeditions or the durability of alliances.
Accounts of the rituals performed by the Turkic peoples come from the oldest Asian literary monuments – epitaphs. A few centuries later, records in European chronicles informed of magical practices designed to attract success to Turkic warriors. These were rituals related to the realm of belief and the imagining of the world order (shamanism, totemism, myths), to war and the 'programming' of its end (sacred hunting, sacrifices, divination), to the making of pacts (exchange of gifts, oaths), and finally to the marking of spheres of influence in newly conquered territories (marking, sanctification). Archaeological finds add to the knowledge of these complex beliefs.

The Mongol Empire, founded by Genghis Khan, was one of the most widespread empires in history. During this expansion process, the Mongol armies conquered a large part of Asia and interacted with many different cultures and languages. These interactions left deep marks on the Turkish peoples and the Turkish language of that era. In the theoretical ground of the Turkic-Mongolian language relationship, the Mongolian elements in the historical and contemporary dialects of Turkish have been the subject of many studies to the present day. Mongolian elements in Kazakh Turkish have been discussed in a limited number of studies. More studies are needed to examine the linguistic relations between Kazakh Turkish and Mongolian in depth. In this sense, it is important to identify the Mongolian elements in Kazakh Turkish vocabulary and to reveal their usage areas. This article examines Mongolian loanwords in the Kazakh Turkish vocabulary from the Northwestern (Kypchak) Turkish dialects. Within the scope of the study, 63 words (54 nouns, 9 verbs) that passed from Mongolian to Kazakh were examined under two main headings and eleven subheadings. In determining the words of Mongolian origin in Kazakh Turkish, the main studies that deal with Mongolian loanwords in Turkish written languages, especially historical works of the Turkish language and etymological dictionaries, were taken as basis. The loanwords analyzed within the scope of the study were classified according to the determined themes and data on their usage areas were revealed. Therefore, it was determined that Mongolian loanwords such as "aga, maŋday, soqır, qarşığa, bağana, bosağa, jeli, tomağa, salqın, küreŋ, jada-ös-, toqta-" in Kazakh Turkish have more than one meaning by meeting new concepts as well as their basic meanings.

The site is located in the „Princely Court” protected area (RAN Code 95079.04/ LMI IS-I-s-A-03504), at No. 4 Palat St. The total investigated area was 520 sqm. and was investigated by opening a single excavation unit (Cas. 13). The surrounding area was investigated in 2021-2022,(Ghica-Daniel House / Hotel St. Petersburg, Cas. 1-12). The excavation unearthed the foundations of the Rosenstein/Stern House, of crudely dressed limestone, bound with poor quality mortar, with discharge arches resting on deep cushions of compacted gravel. An isolated tomb was
discovered NE of the foundations, dated by two coins from the first half of the 17th century. North of the tomb, two medieval ovens dug into the natural slope of the plateau were discovered. Based on the ceramic material identified in the filling of the two ovens, these two complexes can be dated to the 17th century. Very close to the NE limit of the foundations of the Rosenstein/Stern House and preceding these, the excavation revealed the remains of a wooden bulwark, consisting of tarred oak piles (~22×35 cm in section) driven into the post-medieval rubble layers at 2.10-2.35 m intervals. The piles supported a drainage channel, made of oak planks. The whole structure was covered in modern rubble and refuse.

There are several unresolved problematic issues in Turkology. This is the result of the settlement of Turkic tribes, which were numerous throughout history, over a wide geography. As a result, the formation of different views of scientists on issues such as the formation of different Turkic literary languages, their names, the classification of historical and modern Turkic languages, etc. In the literary languages that emerged in these regions, Turkic tribes and various dialectal (Koine) factors appeared. For a century, scientists have not come to a unanimous agreement on the naming of the medieval literary Turkic languages. The article presents the opinions of various scholars about the Middle Turkic period, Turkic literary languages in the Middle Ages, Khwarezm and Golden Horde Turkic and works, and their solutions are sought.

Geniş coğrafyalarda hüküm süren farklı Türk boyları tarihe farklı açılardan iz bırakmıştır. Kendi isimleriyle bir devlet kuramamış olan Kıpçaklar, bıraktıkları tarihî mirasla yaşadıkları coğrafyanın Deşt-i Kıpçak (Kıpçak Çölü) olarak anılmasına sebep olmuştur. İç meselelerde ayrışan fakat dış tehditlere karşı birlikte hareket eden ve kısa sürede toparlanma kabiliyetine sahip olan Kıpçaklar, gittikleri her coğrafyada isimlerinden söz ettirmiştir. Kıpçakların Türkistan'daki kökenlerinden başlayarak Mısır'da bir devlet kurmalarına giden sürecin dikkatle incelenmesi gerekmektedir. 1260 yılında cereyan eden Ayn Calut Muharebesi, Moğolların durdurulmasında Kıpçakların oynadıkları belirleyici rolü göstermektedir. Kıpçakların yaşadığı tarihsel dönüşüm sadece bir topluluğun siyasal ve askeri alanda güç kazanmasıyla sınırlı kalmamış aynı zamanda Türkistan konargöçer geleneğinin İslam dünyasıyla bütünleşerek özgün bir siyasal yapı oluşturmasının dikkat çekici bir örneği olmuştur. Savaşçı karakterleriyle şekillenen kültür zamanla sınırları aşarak özellikle Kuzey Afrika'da etkili bir yönetim sistemi kurmuş ve İslam medeniyetine önemli katkılarda bulunmuştur. Söz konusu tarihsel süreç konargöçer geleneklerin değişen siyasi koşullara uyum sağlayarak nasıl kurumsallaşabildiğini ve yeni coğrafyalarda devletleşme potansiyeli taşıdığını ortaya koymaktadır. Telif ve tetkik eserlerin ışığında hazırlanan bu çalışmada; Kıpçakların Türkistan'dan Doğu Avrupa'ya, İran üzerinden Kuzey Afrika'ya uzanan hâkimiyet yolculuğu değerlendirilecektir.

Peçeneklerin temas kurduğu veya ilişkide bulunduğu önemli topluluklardan biri kuşkusuz Bulgarlardır. Erken tarihlerinde bir dağılma yaşayan ve iki farklı yapı olarak karşımıza çıkan Bulgarlarla Peçeneklerin ilişkileri bu iki farklı yapıyla ayrı ayrı dönemlerde ve coğrafyalarda gelişmiştir. Farklı iki Bulgar grubundan İdil Bulgarları ile olan siyasi ilişkiler hakkındaki bilgilerimiz oldukça kısıtlıdır, Tuna Bulgarları ile ilişkiler ise biraz daha geniş bilgi sahibi olduğumuz döneme denk gelmektedir. Bu çalışmadaki amacımız mevcut kaynaklar ışığında iki topluluğun birbiriyle olan siyasi ilişkilerini tespit etmek ve bu ilişkilerin seyrini etkileyen faktörleri ortaya koymaya çalışmaktır.

This article analyzes the word bolmačï, which is rarely attested in Early Middle Turkic texts and has been overlooked by scholars until now.
This word has multiple meanings, which are sometimes contradictory, including 'impossible, futile, vain, unnecessary, insignificant' and 'to be,
to exist'. The study aims to trace the word's semantic range in historical and modern Turkic languages, identify its dominant meaning and
analyze its morphemic structure.
The analysis is organized into three parts. The first part compiles all occurrences of bolmačï from historical texts of the Karakhanid, Khwarezmian, and Kipchak periods, analyzing the meanings of the lexeme, which are predominantly context-dependent. Furthermore, the interpretations of these meanings proposed by various scholars
are reviewed, and the author offers alternative interpretations in cases where the existing explanations do not correspond to the sentence
context.
The second part investigates the meanings of bolmačï in modern Turkic languages. To determine the dominant meaning and lexicalsemantic variants of the word, explanatory dictionaries of various Turkic languages are consulted. The study finds that the lexeme remains widely used in various forms in Kazakh (bolmačï), Karachay-Balkar (bolmačï), and Urum (bolmačï). In modern Turkic languages, the lexical
meaning of the word varies: 'small', 'few', 'insignificant', 'meaningless', 'empty', 'futile', 'worthless', 'insufficient', 'unnecessary', 'negative', and 'false', among others. The lexical-semantic variants also shift depending
on the context.
The third part of the study analyzes the morphemic structure of
bolmačï, consisting of the root stem bol- (‘to be’) + -ma (a formative
negation affix) + -čï (a derivational affix). Particular attention is
paid to the semantic transformation of the suffix -čï, whose origin
and grammatical function remain the subject of scholarly debate.
Summarizing various academic viewpoints, the author argues that -čï was forms. Throughout the historical development of the Turkic languages, this affix underwent lexicalisation, acquiring a derivational function in the process.
In the conclusion, the author notes observes that bolmačï currently functions as an independent adjective and should be included in Turkic dictionaries as a nominative lexical entry.

The article examines stirrups of an unusual design – with a rotating stirrup loop, discovered in burials of the Mongol time in Southern Siberia (Altai, Tuva, Buryatia and Transbaikalia) – the proposed name is the Yakonurskii type, based on the place of their first discovery. Despite their impressive geography, these stirrups are extremely rare finds in burial complexes of the Mongol time. At the same time, they were never found in pairs – they do not represent a single set. The authors of the article provide an overview and comparison of similar items, trying to explain the appearance of these stirrups, which were not typical for the Mongol time, among nomads. It is suggested that these stirrups were produced by sedentary artisans (similarity of metric characteristics of the items, atypicality of the items for a nomadic environment, complexity of production) and came to the nomads as a result of their military campaigns. The authors believe that the probable area of the initial distribution of these stirrups is China.

information and was written by an author named Salih in 1026, is incomplete. We have determined that some folios are missing in the inside of the manuscript. While explaining the derivative words formed with a suffix, the author gave information about the suffix in question and showed the words derived from the same suffix as an example. The same savings can be seen in some shooting attachments. In addition to being a dictionary in this respect, the work also carries a concise grammar feature. The author also made use of idioms, proverbs, poems, phrases or sentences while explaining the words. This dictionary, which is the subject of our study, although it was written at the beginning of the 17 th century, it contains important phonetic, morphological and lexical data. Another feature that makes the work different is a spelling preference that has not been seen in any manuscript before. In this study, the main emphasis is on this spelling feature that makes writing different. This dictionary, which we think will make important contributions to Turkish language research in terms of its features, should be studied thoroughly by Turkish language researchers who know Arabic well and presented to the benefit of the Turkology world.

While Anatolian and Early Ottoman Turkish Qur’an translations are relatively well studied and understood, surprisingly little attention has been paid to the question whether the Mamluks also had access to the Qur’an in interlinear Turkic translation. In this paper, I start by offering an overview of pre-sixteenth century Turkic Qur’an translations, hereby focusing on the linguistic and extra-linguistic evidence that could tie any of these to the Mamluk Sultanate. Based on this exploration, I argue for the identification of two translations as Mamluk. First, there is MS Türk ve İslam Eserleri Müzesi, 508, which was never the subject of a linguistic study. I bring in extra-linguistic evidence that irrefutably identifies it as a Mamluk copy. Second, there is MS Manisa İl Halk Kütüphanesi, 931, which was edited and studied in depth by Esra Karabacak. While a Mamluk connection has been suggested in the past, to date, this identification remained conjectural, given the inconclusive linguistic evidence. Based on a newly discovered manuscript (MS Ayasofya 1448), I produce compelling extra-linguistic evidence that confirms its Mamluk identity.

Makalede Kıpçakların Rus knezlikleriyle ilişkileri, çatışma ve ittifakları, ticaret ve esir mübadelesi gibi konular öne çıkarılmaktadır. Ayrıca Kıpçakların bozkırdaki hâkimiyetinin bölgedeki dengeleri nasıl etkilediği ve Moğol istilası öncesi Doğu Avrupa’daki siyasî yapıya katkıları değerlendirilmektedir.

также были опубликованы ценные работы. Однако
территориальный вопрос государства Саманидов не был
предметом отдельного исследования до сих пор. С учетом
того, что стали доступны некоторые сведения исторических
источников и сами источники в полном объеме,
появилось необходимость глубже изучить историческую
географию государства Саманидов и таким образом более
обоснованно определить внутренние (административные)
и внешние границы этого государства в определенные
периоды ее существования. Автор монографии решает
указанный вопрос в данной публикации.

Doğum tarihi kesin olarak bilinmeyen Atrak, çeşitli kaynaklarda Kuman-Kıpçaklar arasında yer alan altı bölük arasında en güçlü grup olarak bilinen Don Kuman-Kıpçaklarının hanedan ailesi Toksoba (Dokuzoba) boyuna mensuptur. Rus yıllıklarında Atrak, Gürcü kroniklerinde ise Otrok ismiyle anılan bu bağbuğ, Osen (Asen)’in torunu, Saruhan’ın oğlu ve Sırçan’ın ise kardeşidir. Atrak, Don Kuman-Kıpçaklarının efsanevi lideri olan babası Saruhan’ın ölümünden sonra hâkimiyetin amcası Sugr’a geçmesinden sonra Don bölgesinden Kuzey Kafkasya’ya ardından ise beraberindeki gruplar ile Gürcistan topraklarına göç etmiştir

Hakimiyetlerinin en parlak dönemlerinde hâkim oldukları topraklara Deşt-i Kıpçak ismini vermiş olan Kuman-Kıpçakların, Türkler arasında en geniş coğrafyaya yayılan boyların başında geldiği bilinmektedir. Elinizdeki bu mühim çalışma, tıpkı kadim Türkistan coğrafyası gibi tarihsel derinlik ve hafıza açısından Türk boyları için önemli bölgelerden birisi olan Kuzey Kafkasya topraklarının çeşitli bölgelerinde yaklaşık iki yüz yıl hakimiyet sürmüş olan Kuman-Kıpçakların mevcudiyetleri üzerine kaleme alınmıştır.
Bir başka deyişle çalışmanın ana çerçevesi Kuman-Kıpçakların XI. yüzyılın sonundan itibaren Kuzey Kafkasya düzlüklerinde ilk kez görülmelerinden, XIII. yüzyılın ortalarına kadar geçen süre içerisinde bölgedeki varlıklarını kapsamaktadır. Sözü edilen ana çerçeve kapsamında eserde, Kuman-Kıpçaklara ait olan arkeolojik ve topografik verilerin yanında yazılı kaynaklar ışığında onların münasebette bulunduğu topluluklar, zikredilen bölgede yayıldıkları alanlar, en önemlisi ise bölgede kendilerinden geriye kalan maddi, manevi ögelerin ve kültür aktarımları ve günümüzde Kuzey Kafkasya’da yaşamakta olan halkların etnik oluşumlarında görülen Kuman-Kıpçak varlığı ve etkisi incelenmiştir.

Боляринът е брат на цар Георги I Тертер и чичо на цар Теодор Светослав (1300-1322) 2 . Той принадлежи към българо-куманската фамилия на Тертеревци 3 , която води произхода си от куманския род Тертер (Тертероба), чиито представители се преселват на българска територия от Унгарското кралство след убийството на Котян Сутоевич през 1241 г. 4 Точните роднински връзки между куманския хан и братята Георги Тертер и Алдимир остават неизяснени 5 .

The paper refers to the Bulgarian-Cuman relations during the reign of tsar Boril. According to many researchers, the deteriorated Bulgarian-Cuman relations resulted from the Bulgarian-Hungarian and Bulgarian-Latin alliance after 1214. For the most part, these conclusions sound logical, but at the same time a question related to the limited involvement of Cumans in Boril's campaigns after 1211 arises. Contrary to researchers who focus on the South and the Bulgarian-Latin conflict, the author seeks a solution to the problem by analysing events to the North, reaching the lands of the Burzenland region in Eastern Transylvania. He analyses the Teutonic-Cuman conflict of 1211-1222, and the success of the Teutons in Cumania after 1215. Finally, the author concludes that the dramatic change in the Bulgarian-Cuman relations could be explained by a new source of military and political influence that emerged in the second decade of the 13 th century-The Teutonic Order.

What was the role of the Cumans in the Bulgarian-Latin conflict of 1205-13? What was the real extent of nomadic involvement in the different stages of the war? Can we analyse this military conflict as a clash between the nomadic and Western, knightly warfare? Next, the study focuses on the Teutonic-Cuman conflict of 1211-25 in the Burzenland region of Eastern Transylvania. The paper analyses this war, drawing parallels with the Cuman-Latin clashes in the Bulgarian-Latin wars of 1205-13. In conclusion, the author presents a balanced assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of Cumans and Latins in the Balkans in the first decades of the 13 th century.

The article offers a critical review of the book of Serbian historian Aleksandar Uzelac, dedicated to the analysis of the relations between the Golden Horde and the Medieval Balkan Slavic states -Bulgaria and Serbia in the second half of the thirteenth century. The book is based on the wide corpus of Slavic, Latin, Byzantine and Oriental sources, archeological and numismatic findings, toponymy, as well as folklore tradition. The author offered a very insightful overview of the political relations between the Golden Horde and the Balkans, migratory movements of the populations from the Pontic Steppes to the Balkan region, and in addition he also dealt with the image of the Tatars in the eyes of its Christian contemporaries. The pivotal figure of the book is Nogai, whose career, status within the Golden Horde and achievements are analysed in detail. Moreover, armed with impressive erudition, the author challenged and revised many established misconceptions in Serbian and Bulgarian historiography. Another asset of the book is vivid and dynamic presentation of its contents, aimed not only at the specialists, but also the general audience. The shortcomings of this monograph are relatively few, with respect to omission of some archeological materials, but they do not diminish the general value of the monograph in question.

Based on an analysis of the field diary of ethnographer Elena Makhova, this article addresses the scarce representation of the findings from mid-twentieth-century ethnographic expeditions in exploring the nature and specificity of Kazakh material culture during the Soviet period. The diary in question was compiled during research conducted in the Chui (Shu) district of the Dzhambyl (Zhambyl) region from 1949 to 1950. The collection of materials was carried out in accordance with a program aimed at the ethnographic study of contemporary Kazakh aul. New data were obtained that illuminate various methodological aspects of working with informants, the characteristics of cultural contexts, and the practices of scientific generalization employed by Soviet ethnographers. This article not only makes a theoretical contribution to the understanding of the ethnographic heritage of the Soviet period but is of particular interest to those engaged in the study of twentieth-century material culture.

Having being brought up to pray Biblically and as one trained in linguistics, I look upon the modern arbitrary trend in English-speaking countries with great disdain. My past employment brought me into contact with some dozen languages other than English, none of which show such lack of taste in addressing God.

Öz: Moğolların Gizli Tarihi, Moğol tarihi ve kültürüne dair temel kaynaklardan biri olarak öne çıkmaktadır. Bu eser, yalnızca tarihî bir anlatı değil, aynı zamanda Moğolların dünya görüşünü ve yaşam tarzlarını yansıtan birinci elden bilgiler sunmaktadır. Yapılan incelemelerde, Moğolların atasözlerine büyük önem verdikleri ve sözlü anlatımlarında bu sözleri sıkça kullandıkları tespit edilmiştir. Bu çalışmada, Moğolların Gizli Tarihi’nde yer alan on altı atasözü; yönetim, bilgelik ve doğa temaları çerçevesinde ele alınarak değerlendirilmiştir.

An Analysis of the Proverbs in The Secret History of the Mongols
Abstract: The Secret History of the Mongols stands out as one of the primary sources on Mongolian history and culture. This work is not only a historical account but also offers firsthand insights into the Mongols’ worldview and way of life. Studies show that proverbs held significant importance for the Mongols, who frequently employed them in their speech. In this study, sixteen proverbs found in The Secret History of the Mongols are examined under the themes of governance, wisdom, and nature.

In northwestern Armenia (Shirak Province), anthropological material was obtained from the burial ground of Jrapi during rescue archaeological excavations conducted from 2013 to 2022. Female burials dating to the 8th-6th centuries BC contained weapons. The research was carried out through visual examination of skeletons and radiography. The article lists the types of injuries recorded on the skeletal remains. The trauma is categorized as either antemortem or perimortem. The nature of the injuries (head trauma, arrow wounds, and weapon-inflicted injuries) indicates violent events that caused severe harm or death to these women. This evidence points to the militarized nature of the local population.

Tanrı her şeye kadirdir, her şeyi bilendir. Bu tanım, onu yücelten tüm kutsal kitaplar ve inanç sistemlerinde temel bir özellik olarak karşımıza çıkar. Yani Tanrı, sadece şimdi olanı değil; 100 yıl sonra olacakları da, hatta bir insanın 0.01 saniye sonra ne düşüneceğini, ne yapacağını da en ince ayrıntısına kadar bilir. Dolayısıyla Tanrı, insanların gelecekte hangi eylemleri gerçekleştireceğini de eksiksiz olarak bilmektedir. Eğer Tanrı ne yapacağımızı en başından biliyorsa ve bu bilgi kesinlik içeriyorsa, bu durumda bizim özgür iradeyle seçim yaptığımızı iddia etmek çelişkili bir yaklaşımdır. Çünkü bir eylem, zaman içinde olup bitmeden önce bilinip belirlenmişse, o eylem artık özgürce seçilmiş değil, önceden kararlaştırılmış demektir. Bu durumda, eylemlerimizin önceden belirlenmiş olması gerekir. Ve bu belirleme de Tanrı tarafından yapılmıştır. Türkçünün görevlerinden en başta geleni, kendisini yetiştirmektir. Cühelâ olup "Ben Türkçüyüm!" diye gezinen zâtlar, üçüncü sınıf Türkçü bile olamayacak olan zibidilerdir. Türkçü, her yerde, her ortamda milliyeti ve fikrine gelecek olan hücumlara hazır olmalı ve bunlara karşı önceden argümanlar oluşturmalıdır. Tarih konusunda sadece Fatih'i, Yavuz'u değil; Belisarius'u, Caesar'ı, Bismarck'ı da tanımalı ve bilmelidir. Antropoloji ve filolojiyi öğrenmelidir. Türkistan coğrafyasını tanımalı; bilmediği yerin milliyetçiliğini yapanlar, az önce zikrettiğimiz zibidilerdir. Ve hatta şunu da dile getirmek gerek: Türkistan, Orta Asya değildir. Türklerin kılıcıyla, kan ve can vererek almış olduğu her toprak parçasıdır. Binaenaleyh, Türkçülükteki Turancılık, cihanşümul bir idealdir. Türkçü, her şeyden evvel cesur olmalı; vakti geldiğinde kendi ideali uğrunda serden bile geçmeli, serdengeçtilere katılmalıdır. Önce kendini, daha sonra düşmanını tanımalı; zaaflarını bilmeli; diksiyon ve ahlâka dikkat etmeli; yurdunu ve ırkını korumalıdır. Bu koruma her vakit silah ile değil, aynı zamanda çöp kutusu ile yapılır. Çöp kutusu olursa silaha gerek kalmaz. Türkçülük, Türk milletini müdafaa etmektir. Bu basit cümle Türkçülüğü tanımlar. Lâkin biraz açayım: Milletimiz tarih boyunca nice cefâlar çekmiş, türlü haksızlıklarla boğuşmuştur. Amma velâkin ayakta kalmıştır; ırkını ve yurdunu müdafaa etmiştir. Tüm vak'alara karşı yekvücut olmuş, isyan etmiş, boyun eğmemiş, serden geçmiştir. Bize bu dava, müdafî olma şerefi tanımıştır. Türkçülük, siyasî bir ideoloji değildir, olamaz. Siyaset üstü, mühim bir ülküdür. Türkçü olmak isteyenlere bir ikazım var: Yufka yürekliyseniz, gördüğünüz zorluklar hasebiyle yılacak ve bırakacaksanız, hiç bu yola baş koymayın. Çünkü bu yol kutludur; gider Tanrı Dağı'na... Türkçülük, kısaca böyledir. Ve bu fikir, yalnızca 19. yüzyılda değil, tarihin başlangıcından itibaren vardır. İlk Türk, hattâ Türk dini bile Türkçüdür. Bizans İmparatorluğu'nda Doğa Felsefesi ve Kozmoloji Giriş Bizans İmparatorluğu, yalnızca siyasi ve dini bir güç merkezi değil, aynı zamanda antik felsefi mirasın Hristiyan teolojisiyle harmanlandığı benzersiz bir entelektüel ortam sunmuştur. Doğa felsefesi ve kozmoloji, bu sentezin en çarpıcı örneklerinden biridir. Bizans doğa felsefesi, büyük ölçüde Aristotelesçi ve Yeni-Platoncu düşüncelerin Hristiyanlıkla uyumlu hale getirilmesiyle şekillenmiştir. Philoponus'un çalışmaları, doğa felsefesinin teolojik temellerle nasıl yeniden yorumlandığını gösterir. doi.fil.bg.ac.rs Kapadokyalı Babalar olarak bilinen Aziz Basil, Aziz Gregorios ve Aziz Yuhanna, doğa felsefesi ve kozmoloji konularında önemli eserler vermiştir. Aziz Basil'in "Hexaemeron" adlı eseri, evrenin altı günde yaratılışını detaylı bir şekilde ele alır ve doğa olaylarını Tanrı'nın düzeni içinde açıklar . Bu eserler, doğa felsefesinin dini metinlerle nasıl bütünleştiğini ve halkın eğitiminde nasıl kullanıldığını gösterir. 3. Psellos ve Orta Bizans Döneminde Doğa Anlayışı yüzyılda, Michael Psellos gibi düşünürler, antik felsefi metinleri yeniden keşfederek doğa felsefesine yeni bir soluk getirmiştir. Psellos, Aristoteles ve Platon'un eserlerini Hristiyanlıkla uyumlu hale getirerek, doğa olaylarını hem akıl hem de inanç perspektifinden açıklamaya çalışmıştır . Bu yaklaşım, Bizans'ta doğa felsefesinin hem bilimsel hem de teolojik bir disiplin olarak gelişmesine katkı sağlamıştır. Bizans kozmolojisi, sadece metinlerde değil, aynı zamanda mimari ve sanatta da kendini gösterir. Kilise yapıları ve mozaikler, evrenin düzenini ve Tanrı'nın yaratıcı gücünü simgeler. Bu sanat eserleri, kozmolojik düşüncenin halk arasında yayılmasına ve dini deneyimin derinleşmesine hizmet etmiştir . Bizans'ta doğa felsefesi, sadece teorik değil, aynı zamanda pratik bilimsel çalışmalara da zemin hazırlamıştır. Özellikle astronomi ve tıp alanlarında yapılan çalışmalar, doğa olaylarının gözlemlenmesi ve anlaşılmasına katkı sağlamıştır. Bu bilimsel faaliyetler, Bizans'ın entelektüel mirasının zenginliğini ve çeşitliliğini yansıtır . Bizans İmparatorluğu'nda doğa felsefesi ve kozmoloji, antik felsefi mirasın Hristiyan teolojisiyle harmanlandığı, bilimsel gözlem ve dini inancın bir arada var olduğu bir düşünce sistemi sunar. Bu entelektüel miras, sadece Bizans dönemini değil, aynı zamanda sonraki dönemlerin bilim ve felsefe anlayışını da etkilemiştir.
