Indian Education System

The Indian Knowledge System (IKS), initiated in the ancient philosophy, science and culture of the country, is also recognized in today's discourse. With the launch of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the Indian government is working to integrate IKS in mainstream education to promote development opportunities for students. This article explores the impact of government education reform on student development, focusing on the integration of IKS in the curriculum and co-curricular activities. Analyzing policy documents, school survey reports and student feedback, the study assesses the potential of IKS to support intellectual, emotional and cultural development. The article also discusses the challenges faced in implementing effective reforms, such as the need for new teaching methods, teacher training and infrastructural support. This study evaluates the role of IKS in the development of thinking, creativity and meaningful learning, highlighting its importance in making future students have their roots as international citizens. Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) is dedicated to encouraging and supporting research to solve the problems of today's society. Based on the rich tradition of Vedic literature including Vedas and Upanishads, IKS is ready to be integrated into educational platforms. Teacher training and mentoring development model is being taken up to improve the quality of classroom teaching in IKS classrooms. Special training centers will be set up for teachers and specific topics in Indian knowledge will be focused on.

ABSTRACT: Despite their mammoth infrastructure none of the modern Indian educational establishments could make a mark among the top 150 institutions of the world. Nor have they been successful in producing any landmark fundamental or applied research. Even the graduates churned out by them are unemployable, unproductive, irresponsible, self-centred and greedy shirkers with a highly colonial attitude and mind-set. The contemporary Indian education unabashedly and unflinchingly disseminates the colonial conviction that the West is wiser, more just, and more humane and has the panacea for every ill. It being Indian only in its location shows scant respect for Indian culture and traditions. While the system was Anglo-centric earlier it is Anglo-American-centric now, be it the issue of cultural-ethos, curriculum, medium of instruction, teaching materials and methods, testing, qualifications of teachers and learners or funding of education. The modern education creates a mind with the hallmark of imitation and mimicry and it successfully generates a feeling of inferiority, erases memory and cultures, introduces an alien conceptual vocabulary, produces a shadow/ shallow mind whose creativity is smothered with dullness. Through new types of funding/fellowships the Indian minds are being neo-colonised. How the National Education Policy 2020 seeks to transform the imitative mind to a thinking mind rooted in Indian culture and ethics is the theme of this paper. Pros and cons of all the above issues will be discussed with proper reference points from ancient Indian educational history.

The decision of the government of India to allow foreign direct investment in higher education is based on a consultation paper prepared by the commerce ministry, which is marked by arguments, perverse logic and forced conclusions. FDI in any field does not have an attached objective of fulfilling social agenda of the welfare state. It is guided by profit and market. This would result in commoditization of education. As per past most foreign institutes invest in technical courses which market needs rather than in quality education and research which is important for creating and developing human resource. There is a shortage of funds in higher education sector. Here are not many ways in which this investment in this sector can be increased in this sector domestically. Since a large number of students go abroad for their higher education, it is sensible to allow foreign universities to set up their campuses here, in India. This would help in arresting the outflow of monetary and human capital. Further, foreign higher educational institutes would create competition with the local institutes making them internationally competitive this article examines the issues and financial compulsions, presented in the consultation paper.

Most of the experts of linguistics accept that Sanskrit is the most scientific, logical & systematic language. Sanskrit is the precious gem of the past and the key to the future. No one doubts its scientificity and utility from linguistic point of view, but still our educational system has often failed to take effective steps for Sanskrit teaching & learning. Certainly, the National Education Policy 2020 has accepted the importance of Sanskrit language, but there is a need to be comprehensively prepared for the future Sanskrit generation and Sanskrit education.

NEP 2020 will be the milestone for Sanskrit Language & soon scenario will be changed. Innovative Digital Tools are already giving their major contribution to make Sanskrit more popular among people. These tools must be used & developed more & more.

Indian education is challenged by a digital age, because a powerful and advanced education system is the need of this digital era to form a tech savvy young generation of the 21st century with novelty, creativity and amalgamation of knowledge. On the way of this digital enhancement, the education system is embedded with a number of deviated practices which remain as hurdles in the development process. Transparency International (2019) stated that corrupt (deviated) practices in education steal the future from the next generation. This article tries to explore types of deviated practice and its impact on the education system and lives of 21st century learners. The whole world is being transformed into a digital sphere of perfection and digital skills have found an inevitable space the advancement of every individual, industry, and regional success." Education system is most essential sector in any sort of development. Digital glimpse have changed the very interface of traditional education system which was restricted in classrooms with limited teaching-learning options. The digital world has opened up amazing platforms of teaching-learning exploration where individual uniqueness, aspiration, freedom, etc of both teachers and learners are given preference with happy and comfort learning space. In this digital scenario happy learning pedagogy would enable the teachers and students to explore teaching and learning process more happily inside and outside the classroom. Intention of every person is to lead a happy life from birth to death in which happy learning has more vital role to define his or her life success with sustainable outcome. This article highlights the happy learning factors that are being collected from the teachers and students through interviews are considered as elements of e-pedagogy which enable the students to excel in learning with digital skills at a happy atmosphere enhancing self-learning, discipline, positive emotions, self-study, etc.

Developmental destiny of every nation is being determined mainly by the quality of the education system. The aptitude and aspiration of learners go on changing in academia due to the demand of the digital world and its economy. E-pedagogy is an inevitable factor to decide the future of 21 st century learners. On the way of actualising Digital India, advanced education system especially e-pedagogy has an important role to revitalise the traditional education system and to address the huge teaching learning crisis that India faces.This article tries to articulate that e-pedagogy is possibility of Indian education system for a brighter digital age and it is a conditional one which demands an entire transformation of educational system.

World is in the path of development and perfection. So the survival of any institute or system depends upon the timely updation of it. Since education is the most decisive factor in the development of every nation, it is high time to upgrade the education system for preparing the digitally skilled generation of the 21st century. This article tries to highlight the inevitable need of adapting e-Pedagogy for preparing 21st century learners and concludes with valuable suggestions to prepare the present education system for the successful implementation of e-pedagogy.

The paper covers the ongoing situation and working protocols followed in the colleges located in the rural cities of India. There are concerns that needs to be treated at the grass-root level and then there are issues that Government needs to tap into. The prevailing Indian education system and practice seems to encompass autocracy masked with democracy which prevails in the contemporary educational organizations. As a result, oppression and dominance continue at every levels of education. Thus, we require education for democracy which can contribute to a more democratic individual and society. Democratic education that is fostering critical thinking, can contribute to a more democratic society where each and every person has value, dignity, freedom, and a voice in society and the power imbalance existing at all levels of inter-personal relations in education can be definitely overcome. In the present study, a qualitative approach was followed to understand how student-teachers of B. Ed. colleges make sense of Freirean pedagogy and philosophy of education and how it influences their ideas about critical and liberating education. It was based on the participants’ lived experiences of oppression in Indian society and system of education in India and their perceived meaning and essence of Freire’s theory of ‘pedagogy of the oppressed’ in the present day context. The research study used the empirical, transcendental phenomenological method. The intervention program of 24 hours was followed by focus group interviews for 6 hours at the same college with 15 B. Ed. student-teachers of a private aided college of education. Major theme emerged from the data namely ‘Effects of oppression in Indian education’. This research paper emphasizes relevance of Freirean critical literacy in Indian pedagogic culture and his critical pedagogy to Indian classroom situation and discusses effects of oppression in Indian education to promote a culture of critical and independent thinking among students for social change and democracy.

This paper provides an overview of the Indian higher education with regard to foreign participation. The Indian System of higher education is facing today many challenges to meet international standards. The major issue is how to raise the quality and standards of Indian education and make it globally competitive. The present paper focus on identifying opportunities to develop education sector in unregulated sector like Language Training, Tutorials/Coaching, Content providers, Corporate Training for foreign institutes to participate. In the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2014-15, not a single university from India could make it to the list of top 275 universities in the world and no Indian institute for engineering and technology figures in the list of top 100 universities for that category. Isn’t it shocking for a country that boasts of having more number of engineering institutions and producing more number of engineers than any other country in the world does not have a single world-class university?
