Le site d'habitat Blicquy/Villeneuve-Saint-Germain de Pontpoint « le Fond de Rambourg », fouillé dans un cadre préventif, se caractérise par son bon état de conservation lié à son implantation topographique au pied d'une des buttes sableuses qui modèlent le fond de la vallée de l'Oise. La fouille a révélé au moins trois unités d'habitation et une fosse isolée dont le mobilier permet de conclure à l'existence de deux phases d'occupation. Le mobilier issu de deux unités d'habitation présente des caractéristiques très proches du Rubané récent du Bassin parisien et oriente la datation vers une phase ancienne du Blicquy/Villeneuve-Saint-Germain, phase peu documentée à ce jour. L'autre unité d'habitation et la fosse, moins riches, ont livré du mobilier ciblant l'occupation du même secteur à la fin du Blicquy/Villeneuve-Saint-Germain.

In the article the results of investigations of the Sokolniy VIII settlement located in the Zvenigovskiy district, Mari El Republic are presented. The topography of site, the history of its study, information about stratigraphy and spatial structure of archaeological material are considered. The characteristics of ceramic complex of site and technology of pottery making are discussed. The detail description of the stone inventory and the main types of tools are presented. At the Sokolniy VIII settlement any constructive components of the cultural layer except for one fireplace were not determined. This fact allows the authors to interpret the settlement as short time site. The most of the pottery shards belong to the Krasny Most ceramic type of the Late Neolithic in the forest Middle Volga basin and have the direct analogy in the materials of the reference site such as Krasniy Most II-III, Sosnovaya Gora III, Dubovskoe VIII. The technology of ceramics is characterized by the stablility of the main components. The silt organic clay was used as main raw source. As a temper grog and organic solution were added. The stone tool collection is impressive. The nuclei and morphological tools total consist of 45 items. The most of typological types of inventory have analogies to the artifacts from earlier studied assemblages. On the base of radiocarbon dating the period of the settlement exiting can be concerned to the last quarter of 5th millennium BC.

Статья посвящена вводу в научный оборот и характеристике новейших данных, полученных в результате работы над материалом стоянки раннего неолита Черкасская-5, расположенной на Среднем Дону (юг лесостепной зоны, Воронежская область). Особенностью культурного слоя памятника является сохранность органических остатков и наличие необходимого коллагена в датируемых образцах, что для памятников Донской лесостепи является редкостью. С площади стоянки в 2014–2015 гг. была получена керамическая коллекция, не находящая аналогий в известных памятниках неолита Среднего и Верхнего Подонья. Первые радиоуглеродные даты в совокупности с ранним обликом кремневого инвентаря позволили датировать комплекс ранним периодом новокаменного века. Археозоологический анализ показал наличие костей домашних особей, что нашло отражение в первых публикациях материала. Недавно проведенные исследования по датированию нагара с керамики и костей животных (AMS-датирование) из культурного слоя подтвердили ранненеолитический возраст памятника, а повторное изучение остеологической коллекции опровергло наличие здесь костей доместицированных особей. Осуществленное прямое датирование органической обмотки мелового грузила из слоя показало его синхронность основному материалу и принадлежность
к раннему неолиту в рамках первой четверти VI тыс. до н. э. Особенности керамической серии находят аналогии в Нижневолжской гончарной традиции, что позволяет
по-новому взглянуть на процесс неолитизации региона. Остеологическая коллекция показала охотничье-рыболовную направленность хозяйства населения, занимавшего
исследованную территорию памятника в начале VI тыс. до н. э.

Une fouille réalisée en 2013 à Cazan « le Clos du Moulin » Vernègues (Bouches-du Rhône) a permis de mettre en évidence une importante occupation du Chasséen récent en fond de vallon. Aucun niveau de sol n'a été retrouvé, mais plus de 600 structures en creux permettent de documenter un des premiers sites d'habitat structuré de cette période dans le Sud de la France. Les attributions chronologiques reposent sur huit datations au 14 C comprises en 4100 et 3800 avant notre ère et sur un abondant mobilier archéologique qui concorde avec l'attribution à une étape récente du Chasséen. Le gisement livre plusieurs fosses, des puits et une concentration de structures à pierres chauffées, mais aussi et surtout de nombreux trous de poteau et fosses d'implantation qui permettent de restituer les plans d'environ quinze bâtiments. Ces derniers correspondent notamment à dix édifices standards ; trois ensembles architecturaux plus imposants s'insèrent au sein de cette organisation et traduisent sans doute la présence d'édifices socialement plus valorisés. L'analyse du mobilier archéologique ne permet pas de déterminer assurément de chronologies relatives au sein de ces structures et aménagements, mais elle met en évidence plusieurs zones d'activités privilégiées en particulier pour le travail du silex et de l'obsidienne. Ces activités signent une occupation domestique a priori pérenne au sein d'un paysage largement anthropisé et maitrisé d'après les observations anthracologiques et malacologiques. L'ensemble de ces résultats tend à prouver l'attachement des populations chasséennes à ce territoire où elles se sont installées et ont vécues. Ce site permet donc enfin d'approcher pleinement la notion de village pour le Chasséen récent.

In 2020 an axe made of Jurassic flint was accidentally found in Rybitwy in Połaniec Borough. It is a four-sided with partially smoothed surface. Traceological analysis did not reveal any presence of microtraces that would indicate that the axe had been used. Given the shape and size of the axe one can find multiple analogies in inventories of the Corded Ware culture graves in Małopolska region. Various artifacts associated with the Corded Ware culture, both pottery and flint artifacts, were found in numerous locations within 10km of Rybitwy (e.g.

Books on chipped-stone assemblages are not a frequent event in the scientific discourse of the Balkans. This is the first reason this luxury book cannot be omitted. Another is the fact that the book presents part of the exceptionally rich lithic inventory of the well-known multilayer settlement of Mǎgura Gorgana Tell. The most recent achievement of the Pietrele project is the publication of the chipped-stone assemblages from the Chalcolithic layers. The book summarizes the results of a long and continuous study of these assemblages, thus compiling and completing the regular reports of its authors to the Eurasia Antiqua periodical. The text is structured in 12 parts-not necessarily chapters (incl. Introduction, Discussion, Conclusions and a chapter written by Ch. Nachev) consisting, in total, of 68 pages of text. An abstract, bibliography and 85 plates of drawings are presented after the main text. There are high quality colour photographs providing adequate visibility of features such as morphology and raw material of the artefacts, as well as numerous graphs and tables with statistical data aiming to facilitate the reading and comprehension of the text (fig. 1) The Introduction defines the book as an "interdisciplinary study of the techno-typological and functional characteristics and examination of the raw material system of procurement and supply of the blade technology in the Lower Danube area..."(p. 1). This statement (omitting the ambiguous use of 'procurement and supply' which should refer to the raw material and not to the blade technology) provokes big expectations in the readers. Moreover, it is asserted that the assemblages are analyzed in synchronic and diachronic aspects i.e.: i) in comparison with Chalcolithic assemblages from parts of Bulgaria and ii) as correlation between Neolithic and Chalcolithic inventories within the Tell itself (p. 1). Last but not least, the authors affirm a re-examination of the entire lithic material (i.e. re-assessment of their previous (!) study) with the invaluable help of J. Pelegrin, who worked on the site for a couple of seasons (p. 2). The introduction offers a comparative chronological table of four Balkan countries and Turkey but unfortunately does not contain a map of the site in its regional context, or any planigraphic or stratigraphic scheme which would be very useful (if not obligatory!) for the concrete study. Chapter 2 provides the methods of research with a short description of six categories of artefacts, which had been recorded, analyzed and interpreted. The list starts with a newly distinct cat

A recently excavated early Pottery Neolithic (PN) site, Tel Izhaki (Jezreel Valley, Israel)
revealed clear evidence for the collecting and recycling of Pre-Pottery Neolithic B blades.
This technological behavior, common during the period, occurred along with some on-site
production of bidirectional blades, the latter a technological feature characteristic for an
early phase of some Yarmukian sites in the central Jordan Valley, e.g. Sha‘ar Hagolan and
Hamadiya. Other aspects indicating affinity between Tel Izhaki and key Yarmukian sites
in central Jordan Valley constitute a rare incised decoration on a stone vessel, the planoconvex shape of mudbricks as well as some flint raw material.
The variability of the material culture at Tel Izhaki, including the presence of both
Yarmukian and Jericho IX traits in pottery decoration and flint technology is compared to
that of other early PN sites in the area. This variability in combination with the particular
location of the sites, reveal a pattern supporting the Yarmukian PN expansion from the
Jordan Valley into the Jezreel Valley and subsequently into the Lower Galilee. While
radiocarbon dates available from a few sites at the area, including Tel Izhaki, correlate
with that scenario of PN distribution, more studies are needed to investigate chronological
and spatial aspects of variability defining the early PN in the Levant

In the article, the questions of the chronology of the Neolithic cultures in the Volga-Kama basin are discussed. This discussion is based on the significant series of radiocarbon dates obtained on the different organic materials in several last years. The dates were obtained as tradition scintillation technique, as well as AMS method. There was established the different age of cultural complexes on the same site and the time of transition from early to later Neolithic was determined in the Northern Cis-Caspian region. The beginning of the early Neolithic and the final of the later stage were clarified. The Neo-Eneolithic period in the Lower Volga region has been verified. The frameworks of the Early Neolithic and coexistence of Mesolithic and Neolithic societies in the forest-steppe zone of the Volga region were considered. The low border of the Neolithic period in the forest zone of the Middle Volga region was established. In the Cis-Kama region, the chronological frameworks of the Kamskaya culture were determined and the chronological ratio between complexes of unornamented, pricked and combed ornamented ceramics were explained.

Донбасс состоит из нескольких географических районов, из которых Кряж и долина реки Северский Донец являются основными. Экономика энеолитических племен, обитавших в бассейне среднего течения Северского Донца, основывалась на комплексном скотоводческо-земледельческом хозяйстве. Стационарные поселки известны в основном в плодородной долине Донца. Важную роль в экономике играло кремнеобрабатывающее производство. Основные запасы кремневого сырья связаны с геологическими источниками двух правобережных притоков Северского Донца — реками Казенный Торец и Бахмут. В кремневой индустрии практиковались две версии сырьевых стратегий. Первый вариант был связан с использованием простых технологий расщепления кремня, второй касался сложных специализированных технологий know how. Использовалось сырье из близких к поселениям и удаленных источников. Вероятно выделение особого клана кочующих мастеров по изготовлению кремневых орудий.

The paper presents the results of the study of the Sokolniy VII settlement (Zvenigovsky District, Mari El Republic). Information on the settlement history of study, topography, stratigraphy as well as finds distribution within the excavation area is given. The ceramic complex revealed at the settlement and pottery technology are characterized. The complex stone equipment and the main categories of tools are described. Based on the work undertaken, the following conclusions are made by the authors. The ceramic complex of the Sokolniy VII settlement typologically and technologically has the closest analogies in the materials of the Dubovskiy III and VIII, Otary VI, and Sutyri V sites, and can be associated to the early Neolithic of the Mari Volga region. A large number of artifacts within the excavation area, a significant amount of stone items with preliminary crust, a small number of morphologically expressed tools and the absolute predominance of production wastes give the grounds for the authors to treat the site Sokolniy VII as a settlement-workshop. According to palynological data, the mixed broad-leaved and coniferous forests with hazel in the undergrowth and thickets of lingonberry or blueberry grew in the area of the site. Linden and oak played an important role in the composition of forests. There are no herbage plants in the composition of meadow grass, and only various weeds are found. On account of a number of analogies as well as data of palynological analysis, the time of the existence of the settlement can be attributed to the middle – second half of the VI millennium BC.

Abstrakt: Pomimo bardzo dobrego stopnia rozpoznania podgrupy nałęczowskiej kultury amfor kulistych, odkrycie grobu typu nałęczowskiego w Końskowoli oraz ponowna interpretacja grobu z Puław-Włostowic rzuciły nowe światło na obrządek pogrzebowy i zasięg oddziaływań społeczności tej kultury w zachodniej części Lubelszczyzny. Oba stanowiska położone są poza zwartą strefą występowania tego typu obiektów i oba znajdują się poza obszarem wysoczyznowym Płaskowyżu Nałęczowskiego. Groby z Puław-Włostowic i Końskowoli pod względem wyposażenia i w przypadku drugiego ze stanowisk także pod względem surowca wykorzystanego do konstrukcji komory grobowej odbiegają nieco od "klasycznych" obiektów typu nałęczowskiego. Najprawdopodobniej reprezentują najmłodszą fazę osadnictwa podgrupy nałęczowskiej kultury amfor kulistych.  Abstract: The discovery of the Nałęczów type grave in Końskowola as well as the reinterpretation of the grave from Puławy-Włostowice has shed new light on the funeral rite and range of influences of the Nałęczów subgroup of the Globular Amphora culture in the western part of the Lublin region. Both sites are located outside the compact zone where features of this site occur and outside the upland area of the Nałęczów Plateau. The graves from Puławy-Włostowice and Końskowola differ slightly from the "classic" features of the Nałęczów type in terms of their burial goods, and in Końskowola, the raw material used for the construction of the burial chamber. They most likely represent the youngest phase of settlement of the Nałęczów subgroup in the Globular Amphorae culture.

The site of Hamadiya (Khirbet esh-Soda) is in the Beth Shean Valley, which is part of the central Jordan Valley. It is near Kibbutz Hamadiya and ca. 10 km south of the well-known Neolithic site of Munhata. The site is located ca. 200 m below sea level, adjacent to the Nahal Harod riverbed, not far from its confluence with the Jordan River.1 Like Hamadiya, several other Neolithic sites in the central Jordan
Valley are also situated adjacent to or on one or another of the western tributaries of the Jordan. An analogous geographical pattern can be seen in the locations of the late prehistoric sites of Gesher, Tel Ali, Munhata, Sha'ar Hagolan and Tel Tsaf (Garfinkel and Miller 2002: 10–11). These sites are thus seated in deltas where streams flow into the Jordan Valley. The traditional explanation for this pattern of settlement is attributed to its advantages for agriculture and the cultivation of land (Prausnitz 1959; Bar-Yosef 1992). In addition, river valleys also provided the most convenient transportation routes between different regions. Therefore, those rather large sites were situated at crossroads between the north–south route created by the Jordan Valley and the east–west routes created by its tributaries.

We present the first analysis of a chipped stone assemblage recovered from the PPNA layers of el-Hemmeh, Southern Jordan. The sample (31,725 pieces) shows general affinities to PPNA material described elsewhere from the Southern Levant but also provides evidence for a distinctive suite of typological and technological traits. These include the presence of at least two reduction sequences, a lack of traditional PPNA point types, and an emphasis on the production of burins and tools manufactured on burin spalls. We suggest that this assemblage, together with those from other PPNA sites (WF16 and ZAD 2), provides evidence of indigenous cultural development during the Late PPNA in Southern Jordan. Résumé : Cette contribution présente l'analyse préliminaire d'un assemblage de pierres taillées provenant de niveaux datés du Néolithique précéramique A (PPNA) à el-Hemmeh, Jordanie du Sud. L'échantillon montre des affinités générales avec le matériel du PPNA décrit pour d'autres sites de la Jordanie du Sud, mais suggère également la présence de signes distinctifs au niveau typologique et technologique. Ces derniers incluent la présence d'au moins deux schémas opératoires, l'absence de pointes caractéristiques du PPNA et la prédominance de la production de burins et d'outils manufacturés à partir de chutes de burin. Il est proposé que cet assemblage, avec ceux provenant d'autres sites du PPNA (WF16 et ZAD 2), indique un développement culturel indigène pendant la fin du PPNA dans le sud de la Jordanie.

The aim of this study is to evaluate the nature and the scale of the cultural change that occurred in the post-PPNB cultural milieu through the analysis of the lithic assemblage from the excavations at Sha‘ar Hagolan (Jordan Valley).

A number of typo-technological phenomena represented in the assemblage, such as the appearance of uni-polar blade cores and micro end scrapers represent new cultural trends that continued to develop in later periods. However, several specific trends observed within the assemblage appear to reflect the cultural continuity of the Yarmukian lithic industry with those of the previous Pre-Pottery periods. These traits include the use of bi-polar method for blade production and the presence of characteristic tool types continuing from the PPNB. Thus, while the overall character of the PN and PPNB cultures indicates an obvious change in the organization of the lithic industry, as well as in specific stylistic traits of the assemblages, this change can by no means be defined as a “decline” or a “collapse”.
