Access to safe drinking water is very important in order to protect human health. Although extensive monitoring and controlling of tap water, people state that they do not consume tap water in Turkey. Realization of minor changes in parameters such as odour, colour and taste or misdirected news on the visual media led public to use either bottled water or household water filtration systems. The aim of the present study was to reveal the present situation of contamination in the waters obtained from residential water filtration device by analyzing physical, organoleptic, some chemical and microbiological parameters. Physicochemical properties of taste, colour, odour, turbidity, pH, temperature, conductivity, total hardness, iron, aluminum and nitrate values of 300 samples (inlet and outlet of water) were evaluated. Within the scope of microbiological analysis of Clostridium perfringens, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, coliform, Escherichia coli, colony counting at 22°C and 37°C were examined. The results of the physicochemical analysis showed that tested values stated in the regulation. Microbiological results of samples did not comply with required standards. In particular, E. coli outbreaks showed that water contamination and disinfection procedure were inadequate. According to the paired t test results, we found that E. coli, colonic counts at 22°C and 37°C were statistically significant (p < 0.05). As a conclusion, household water filtration devices cannot demonstrate the performance that they show for chemical pollution when it comes to microbiological contamination.

Fermented dairy products are the favorite food of most consumers of all ages. To increase nutritional value, many fermented dairy products are mixed with grains and other additives. Fresh cheeses can be mixed with canned or dried vegetables and fruits and spices. The aim of the work was to produce a cheese dessert with different fruits in order to bring this product closer to the younger population, especially children. Fresh cheese samples were produced from skimmed milk (0.9% milk fat) and partially skimmed milk (1.5% milk fat). The obtained fresh cheese was mixed with compote fruit pineapple, peach and pear, in order to obtain the cheese dessert. Poppy, peach and poppy compositions were used as fruit additives. In this paper, the influence of MgO and CaO content on the quality of technical ceramics (which originally represents the Al&lt;sub&gt;2&lt;/sub&gt;O&lt;sub&gt;3&lt;/sub&gt; - SiO&lt;sub&gt;2&lt;/sub&gt; - CaO - MgO system) has been investigated. Therefore, quality tests were performed on samples where the contents of CaO and MgO were taken as variable values. Based on the obtained test results and their analysis, certain characteristics of ceramics are defined with the different percentages of individual oxides content in 98.2 - 99% Al&lt;sub&gt;2&lt;/sub&gt;O&lt;sub&gt;3&lt;/sub&gt;.

Zvecan is a mining industrial region in the north of Kosovo. In addition, other industrial sectors have developed. Unfortunately the region is very much polluted. The source is industrial activity (exploitation of mineral resources and ferrous metallurgy, and other chemical industry). The present paper aims to investigate pollution level in Zvecan and raise public awareness. In the end recommendations with regard to pollution monitoring process and other measures are made. Some water samples have been collected from 2014 to 2015 and analyzed. The results reported contaminated water. As it can be seen, the main purpose of this study was to identify physical and chemical characteristics of drinking water in some villages in the municipality of Zvecan. On the other hand, local authority need to take urgent measures to improve situation and to offer for the exposed population living in the vicinity of the pollution source, other source of drinking water for personal and community usage.

Although Bosnia and Herzegovina has significant water fountains, quality of drinking water in some parts of the country is not satisfactory. The population of the city of Tuzla and the surrounding area provides drinking water from central water supply conduit of Tuzla. The occurrence of occasional problems with the lack of (summer restrictions) and quality (accidental pollution) of water from central water supply system in the territory of the city, potentiates the importance of public sources of supply as alternative sources of water supply. In this study, quality of well water used for cattle watering on farms in the northwest Croatia was investigated. The following microbiological parameters were analysed: total coliforms, Escherichia coli, intestinal enterococci, the number of microorganism colonies at 37 ° C and 22 ° C, Clostridium perfringens and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Physico-chemical analysis included following parameters: colour, taste, odour, pH, chlorides, sulphates, nitrites, nitrates, sodium, potassium, ammonium, free chlorine, iron and the consumption of KMnO4. Among 34 samples analysed, 79.4% were microbiologically, 61.8% were chemically and 94.1% of the samples were in total unsuitable according to the Croatian water quality regulations (OJ 125/2013, 141/2013, 128/2015).

In this paper the natural spring water was investigated. The sample of spring water was taken at the beginning of July 2019 in Tuzla, Bosnia and Hercegovina (BIH), which is consumed by the local population. The source of investigated spring water is located above salt mine. All parameters of health safety were analysed by the methods of laboratory tests regulated by the State regulation on natural mineral and natural spring waters "Official Gazette BiH" No. 26/10 and 32/12, i.e. physical-chemical and microbiological analysis was performed. The results of the study showed that water is not for drinking because it contains higher concentrations of ammonium ion (NH 4 +) which is 0.89 mg/L, nitrite (NO 2-) 2.20 mg/L and sulphate (SO 4 2-) 398.34 mg/L, and coliform bacteria are isolated. The pH value of 9.07 indicate that this spring water is alkaline. The concentrations of iron (Fe 2+) 0.007 mg/L and manganese (Mn 2+) 0.0144 mg/L are within the allowed limit values while the concentration of lead (Pb 2+) 0.0088 is at the upper maximum allowable value. The results of this research indicate that water in this untreated state is not for drinking.

"Background; Providing Safe drinking water is a prime concerninany community. This analytical study was carried out to evaluate the microbial quality of drinking water in rural areas of northeastern Iran.

Methods;The water microbial quality was determined in all villages (a population of 53047 people), in 3 rounds and based on 3 measurements, i.e. Total Coliform, Fecal Coliform, and Heterotrophic Plate Count. Census method was used for studying water distribution system too.

Results; Results of heterotrophic plate counts of over 500 were positive in 19 (19.8%) of the villages.Total coliforms were also detected in 37 (38.5%) of the villages. Water in villages receiving the services of Water and Wastewater Company had significantly lower levels of total and fecal coliforms contamination (p<0.05) compared to villages deprived of these services. In 4.3% of the villages where the Company delivered services, the HPC≥ 500 results were positive, while this percentage rose to 24.7% in other villages ( p = 0.03).

Conclusion; Comparison of  the results of this study with guidelines published by WHO, regarding the microbial quality of water in 2006, indicated that the the microbial quality of the drinking water in rural areas in Maraveh Tappeh is desirable but lower than the Iranian standard."
