Family Business Management

The study examined Farmer-pastoralist Conflicts in Yamaltu-Deba Local Government Area of Gombe State, Nigeria. The focus was on the socio-demographic characteristics of crop farmers, causes of farmerpastoralist conflicts, impact of conflict on farmers' income and coping strategies used against conflicts in the study area. A multi-stage sampling technique was used to select 250 crop farmers from the four districts in Yamaltu-Deba Local Government Area. Data were collected using structured questionnaire and supported with scheduled interviews. The descriptive and chow test statistics were used for analysis. The results revealed the mean age of crop farmers was 37.5 years; 90.4% were males; 76.0% were married and only 38.4% had attained tertiary education; having 12.8 mean years of experience. However, the main socioeconomic effects of farmer-pastoralist conflicts were; loss of lives (99.2%), destruction of farmlands (93.2%), food insecurity (96.6%) and increase in poverty (86.4%). The results further revealed causes of farmer-pastoralist conflict to include; population growth, non-compliance with cattle routes, seasonal migration of herders, increase in cattle rustling, improper management of animals and as well the declining influence of traditional institutions in land allocation; with mean scores ≥ 3. The result further revealed, the calculated chow's F-statistic for income effect was significant (P<0.01). This implies significant difference in farmers' incomes before and during the conflicts among crop farmers and herders in the study area. In other words, farmers' incomes were highly affected with conflicts; implying that, the income functions of the crop farmers differ with occurrence of conflicts in the study area. The result also revealed, early harvesting and stalk disposal (3.43), government intervention (3.52), tight security (3.65) and appeasement (3.24) were perceived as major coping strategies of farmer-pastoralist conflicts in the study area. It may be concluded that farmer-pastoralist conflict had adversely affected agricultural productions. Therefore, relevant Government agencies and other stakeholders are enjoined to ensure proper delineation, regular revision and adequate supervision of the stock routes, farmlands and grazing areas, so that further occurrence of such conflicts in the study area would be effectively contained.

Familienunternehmen nehmen eine zentrale Stellung in der globalen Wirtschaftslandschaft ein und zeichnen sich durch ihre Betonung von Tradition, Werteerhalt und nachhaltigem Wirtschaften aus. Die vorliegende Arbeit untersucht die wesentlichen Faktoren, die zum langfristigen Erfolg und zur Bewahrung der unternehmerischen Kernwerte in Familienunternehmen beitragen, wobei ein besonderer Fokus auf der Rolle der Family Governance liegt. Auf Basis einer umfassenden Literaturanalyse wird zunächst die Bedeutung von Family Governance-Strukturen wie Familienchartas, Familienversammlungen und Family Offices für die Minimierung von Konflikten und die Förderung effektiver Kommunikation dargestellt. Anschließend werden weitere zentrale Erfolgsfaktoren-Unternehmenskultur, Leadership, strategische Planung, Innovations-und Anpassungsfähigkeit-in ihrer Wirkung auf den Unternehmenserfolg analysiert. Die Untersuchung zeigt, dass eine effektive Family Governance nicht nur zur Leistungssteigerung des Unternehmens beiträgt, sondern auch eine engere Ausrichtung an den Familienwerten fördert. Dabei erweist sich die Integration von Governance-Strukturen mit einer starken, werteorientierten Unternehmenskultur und einem langfristigen Leadership-Ansatz als entscheidend für die Nachhaltigkeit und Wettbewerbsfähigkeit von Familienunternehmen. Die Erkenntnisse verdeutlichen, dass Familienunternehmen durch die systematische Implementierung von Family Governance und die Berücksichtigung weiterer Schlüsselfaktoren nicht nur ihre Wettbewerbsposition stärken, sondern auch ihr Vermächtnis für nachfolgende Generationen bewahren können.

The article explores the visionary contributions of Rajashri Shahu Maharaj of Kolhapur toward social justice, inclusivity, and equal opportunity. It highlights his pioneering role in implementing 50% reservation in 1902 for marginalized communities, providing free education and hostel facilities, and ensuring access to public resources. The study draws on primary and secondary data to compare the effectiveness of Shahu Maharaj’s policies with the present system of social justice in India. It emphasizes his efforts to abolish untouchability, promote equal opportunities in employment and education, and ensure representation in local governance. The findings reveal that Shahu Maharaj’s policies remain relevant, as social injustice and unequal access continue to persist in contemporary India.

Since the year 2000, theories on Information Seeking Behavior have mushroomed a lot. With information flows assuming a state of flood thanks to internet, an information seeker can literally get lots and drowned away. Doctoral Research Scholars seek substantial information inputs. Gone are the days when there were select books and printed material that was available which actually made it easier to seek information. In today's era of powerful search engines that produce something like million results in a flash of a second, the research scholars face a dilemma in seeking information. Needs of information have undergone a change as well. They are dynamic and complex. At the same time, time available at the disposal is limited. This study has been planned to probe into the information seeking behavior of the research scholars in Social Science to understand the entire scheme of things related to their information seeking behavior. Before the study was carried out a review of literature was done and this article presents its results.

Laporan ini mendokumentasikan dan menganalisis program pengabdian masyarakat berupa pelatihan Pembelajaran Aktif, Kreatif, Efektif, dan Menyenangkan (PAKEM) bagi guru Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI) di Kabupaten Pandeglang. Program ini diinisiasi sebagai respons terhadap tantangan pendidikan yang signifikan di wilayah tersebut, termasuk keterbatasan infrastruktur, tingginya angka putus sekolah, dan kebutuhan akan metode pembelajaran yang lebih dinamis. Pelatihan ini dirancang untuk membekali guru dengan pemahaman teoretis dan keterampilan praktis dalam menerapkan prinsip-prinsip PAKEM. Metode yang digunakan mencakup lokakarya, diskusi, dan praktik langsung, dengan evaluasi berbasis perbandingan data kuantitatif (pre-test dan post-test) dan observasi kualitatif. Hasil program menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam pemahaman dan keterampilan guru, yang terefleksi dalam peningkatan skor evaluasi pasca-pelatihan. This dissertation aims to examine the succession management in family businesses operating in the tourism sector, with a focus on the hospitality industry. After highlighting the relevance of the succession process for the family business' longevity, some insights about law, business organization, business management and inter-generational relationships will be given. A qualitative methodology will be used in order to observe this phenomenon: an interview will be conducted to a real-life successor and her hotel will be proposed as a case study.

The entrepreneurial mindset is known as a state of mind that pushes people into pursuing their entrepreneurial endeavours . The aim of this study is to understand the impact of education and training, as well as culture, on adults' entrepreneurial mindset (self-efficacy, fear of failure and perceived opportunities) in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) countries. In order to do this, we used a unique global entrepreneurship monitor (GEM) dataset. The sample represents 157,340 adult respondents from 17 MENA countries. We examined our hypotheses via a linear regression and linear hierarchical models. In a large part, our results indicate that training shapes individual entrepreneurial mindset more than education, and the training received later in people's lives have more positive influence than the one received during their schooldays. In addition, national entrepreneurial culture positively influences people's entrepreneurial mindset in the MENA region.

The teaching of English literature using novel is a challenge for all trained and non-trained teachers equally. The novel as an art form is distinctive from poetry, prose and drama. It is prose in narrative, the technicality involves selection of content, use of language, distanced referencing and comment in disguise. The story is something which is not a story at all. The suggestive quality is core of the narrative structure, presence of the author. The teacher skilled in good reading of literature is the prerequisite of teaching novel both at graduate and under graduate level.

In family business research, sustainability has never received as much attention as large corporations despite the relevance of their global economic impact. Thus, the paper's aim is to investigate this issue by taking two key structures into consideration: longevity and trans-generational value. Methodology: Drawing on systems theory, we developed an exploratory conceptual framework (Trans-generational Sustainability Model -TSM) for family firms. We argue that the three pillars for the creation of trans-generational value, representing a longstanding value for family businesses, are growth, family success and local embeddedness quality. An exploratory case study on a long-lived Italian family firm (Amarelli) belonging to the Henokiens association, has been conducted to investigate some of the hypotheses that have been developed in relation to this preliminary model. Findings: In the case of Amarelli sustainability seems to be the result of the combination of a unique strategic orientation and distinctive competences. The presence of family members in management positions is a major concern for the "enlarged" family and high quality of local embeddedness which are likely to support the creation of trans-generational value. Practical implications: The balance between the three components of family firms' sustainability may provide directions for entrepreneurs in their family firms management, particularly during the succession phase or other disruptive changes involving their businesses. Originality of paper: This article provides a review of significant trends in the strategic management approach by studying family firms' sustainability. Its original contribution is twofold: firstly by its accumulating evidence that the creation of "enlarged" trans-generational value may determine family businesses' longevity and sustainability, and secondly, system theory seems as the leading theoretical perspective.

Purpose: This paper investigates whether a family firm's control context is directly associated with a manager's stewardship attitude or whether this relationship is mediated by the manager's perception with respect to the fairness of the control processes. Design/methodology/approach: We have sent a survey to family businesses in Brazil. We tested the hypotheses with the data collected from 141 responding family and nonfamily managers with the use of Structural Equation Modeling analyses (SmartPLS). We find that more participative and more formal controls are associated with higher procedural justice perceptions. Zooming in on the types of control namely forward-looking action controls like target setting (TS) and backward-looking results controls like performance measurement (PM), we observe that TS is significantly positively associated with stewardship identification through a manager's procedural justice perceptions for both control characteristics (partial mediation for participative TS and full mediation for formal TS). PM on the other hand is only significantly directly related to a stewardship identification if it is of a participative character. In addition, we find a significant moderating effect of family affiliation, increasing the strength of the association between PM procedural justice and stewardship identification for nonfamily managers. Originality: Prior literature focused on discussing stewardship attitudes and behaviors in family firms, but few provided empirical evidence that a stewardship attitude in a family firm is associated with contextual factors like the design of controls in family firms in combination with a manager's individual perception of family firm's processes factors.

PurposeThe purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between technology and efficiency and effectiveness in the performance of family business halal supply chains.Design/methodology/approachMethodology used in this research is a quantitative method. A disaster preparedness plan is a written document that describes the procedures devised to prevent and prepare for disasters, and those purposed to respond to and recover from disasters when they occur. The disaster preparedness plan does not need to be a lengthy, detailed
document, but it does need to be a written document that has been read and is understood by the staff and the Authority. When disaster strikes, everyone will know about the plan and will be ready to follow it.

This article explores the ongoing farmer-herder conflict in Benue State, Nigeria, through the lens of climate-induced migration, food insecurity, and governance failures. As desertification and droughts push Fulani herders southward in search of grazing land, violent clashes with predominantly agrarian communities have intensified. This piece critically examines the Benue State Open Grazing Prohibition and Ranches Establishment Law of 2017 and questions the sustainability of open grazing in the 21st century. With a focus on policy reform, it calls for urgent government intervention, including subsidized ranching, compensation for farmers, and enforceable anti-grazing laws. This work serves as a call to action for policymakers, humanitarian actors, and the Nigerian state to address a crisis that continues to cost lives and destabilize rural economies.

PurposeThis study aims to determine the direct effect of entrepreneurial orientation on family business performance. This study also discusses the role of family involvement as a mediating variable and the role of gender as a moderating variable in the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation and family business performance.Design/methodology/approachA total of 328 hotels in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, were selected as samples by the convenience sampling method. Saudi Arabia has a unique culture and society, which has influence on the way entrepreneurship is perceived and experienced. This study, one of the first to explore entrepreneurship within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, has two overarching aims. The first aim is to explore the perceptions and experiences of male and female entrepreneurs and the second aim is to explore the attitudes and intentions of male and female employees towards entrepreneurship and new venture creation. In exploring both the experiences of entrepreneurs and the attitudes of employees, the study deployed two different research methodologies. Firstly, exploratory in depth interviews were conducted with ten Saudi Arabian entrepreneurs (five male and five female). This data, which was analysed inductively, provided insights into the behaviours and perspectives of each entrepreneur and, at the same time, observations were conducted on the entrepreneurs themselves and their organizations. Secondly, Saudi Arabian employees were surveyed to elicit their attitudes and intentions towards entrepreneurship and new venture creation. Using stratified sampling, 410 usable questionnaire responses were received (205 women and 205 men). Results suggest that Saudi Arabian entrepreneurs exhibit similar motivations to those of entrepreneurs in other countries' contexts; however, their perceived obstacles included a culturally specific issue, the 'Saudization' of the workforce. Female entrepreneurs were additionally concerned about losing their money, being afraid of society, and feeling insecure. This chapter analyses the relationship between related party transactions (RPT) and firm value and whether independent directors' tenure (IDT) strengthens or weakens this relationship. Further, it examines ownership concentration's role on this moderating effect of IDT in Malaysian family and non-family corporations. It is found that that IDT weakens the relationship between RPT and firm value. However, ownership concentration strengthens this moderating effect of IDT. Interestingly, family corporations are more likely to show a stronger impact of ownership concentration which we allude to concerns of maintaining reputation. The research results remain after controlling for technology corporations. The findings' have important implications for policy makers, practitioners and regulators, especially in emerging economies globally.

Di Tahun 2025, industri logistik di Indonesia akan mengalami pertumbuhan yang diperkirakan mencapai 12,5% meliputi aktivitas transformasi digital, ekspor-impor, serta pengiriman domestik.

English Language has not got that much familiarity among the undergraduate students, of an average in the Indian Universities after its long back existence in India. In 21st century also „English‟ is treated as foreign language than as a second language. Though it has been used as the language for education and instruction from the 19th century onwards; it has maintained aloofness among the primary learners. The historical prejudice has been eradicated as English has emerged as a language of communication at the global level. But its incomprehension among the students is the basic question that has found in any academic atmosphere. The intellect of language acquisition of the Indian students cannot be questioned because multilingualism is common feature in India. Even there are noticeable heights in the various fields of scholarship of the natives. On this background, it is important to observe the difficulties that the students are facing while absorbing „English‟. At the same time there should be an effort to see what the role is, that the modern technology of communication plays to smooth this course. In this present paper I have tried to look at the major hurdles that the undergraduate students feel while learning English language. And I have tried to ponder upon the use of Information Communication Technology to minimize these hurdles.

Although Tanzanian manufacturing firms, including the family-owned
manufacturing firms (FOMFs), increased by 50% between the 1960s and early 1970s, only 13% of the FOMFs survived to 2015. Even though other explanations exist as to why many FOMFs are unable to survive into future generations, lack of succession planning has emerged as a major reason for such a low survival rate. However, there is little and discrete information on how succession planning relates to FOMFs‟ survival. The objective of the study was to investigate the effect of succession planning on FOMFs‟ survival. FOMFs low survival rate solving factors were established from the Resource Based Theory (RBT) and Agency Cost Theory (ACT) and suggested as existing and new succession planning variables. The study was undertaken in the Dar-Es-Salaam region using a sample of 384 senior leaders randomly drawn from 37 FOMFs. The study used a quantitative approach, a cross-sectional field survey, and self-administered questionnaires. The data analysis tool was multiple linear regressions. Succession planning variables, namely successor
involvement in business management (SIBM), training successor (TS), internal recruitment of successor (IRS), and successor factors-work (SFF) were empirically tested. The findings indicate that SIBM, TS, and SFF, each one has a significant positive effect on the survival of FOMFs. However, IRS has an insignificant positive effect on the survival of FOMFs. The study provides a coherent understanding of succession planning variables and how they relate to the survival of family-owned manufacturing firms. Foresight aspect of micro-entrepreneurs and its effects on the microenterprise performance is a novel field of study. In this regard, using primary data enumerated from 501 randomly sampled micro-entrepreneurs across three ecological belts in Nepal, the study focused on assessing the effects of managerial foresight on the microenterprise performance in Nepal. The study observed significant indirect effects of educational attainment, need for achievement, need for autonomy, enterprise size, initial financial constraints, environmental hostility and social network on the microenterprise performance through managerial foresight. Managerial foresight appears to fortify the positive effects of educational attainment, initial financial constraints meanwhile reduce the negative effects of need for achievement, enterprise size, need for autonomy, environmental hostility and social network. The findings of this study, apart from confirming the findings of some of the previous studies and nullifying the findings of some other studies, have also explored some interesting mediating effects of managerial foresight on the microenterprise performance.

With the increasing demand for fresh fish for the community of Sidoarjo, then the relevant agencies, namely the Department of Fisheries and Marine Sidoarjo trying to improve the quality of distribution services from manufacturers that SMEs fish farmers who are in Sidoarjo to the hands of the end consumer household. Quality is a key factor that brings business success, growth, and improvement of competitive position. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of service quality fish at the Fish Market distribution and attributes that have the highest negative value. To determine fish distribution service quality in the fish market used the method using the attributes of Physical Distribution Service Quality. Service Quality is an effort to fulfill the customer's needs and desires as well as the accuracy of its delivery to offset the customer's expectations. It is a well-known fact that education plays a pivotal role in overall development of the
individuals. NEP-2020, which stands for National Education Policy 2020, is an ambitious and
proactive measure taken by the Government of India to bring the dynamic and revolutionary
changes in the existing education system especially higher education system of the country in
line with the global standards. The policy is all inclusive encompassing all the aspects. However,
the main areas of focus call for more attention.

The study examined the relationship between apparel fashion entrepreneurs' personal attitudes, values, role perceptions, and brand image formation, focussing on the moderating role of brand ambidexterity. A cross-sectional and quantitative research design was used to collect data from 245 apparel fashion entrepreneurs through convenient sampling. Analysis with SmartPLS3 revealed personal values, attitudes, and role perceptions significantly influence brand image formation. Practical implications suggest that the ability to appreciate and understand entrepreneurs' values, attitudes, role perceptions, and brand ambidexterity can enhance the formulation of brand strategy, growth, and development for small apparel fashion enterprises' success.

Purpose The purpose of the study is to explore inductively the unique paradoxical tensions central to family business (FB) and to analyze how FB&#39;s members face these tensions and their implications in the personal and professional realms.Design/methodology/approachA multiple-case study with 11 parent–offspring dyads from Portuguese FBs was conducted putting the focus on the micro-level interactions.FindingsThe slopes of roles and relationality in FBs produces three persistent sets of tensions around cognition, emotion and action. These tensions exist in a paradoxical state, containing potentiality for synergy or trade-off.Originality/valueOur study is the first to empirically demonstrate that paradoxical tensions between parent and offspring are interrelated, by emphasizing the uniqueness of FB as a paradoxical setting and offering insights to negotiating of these singular paradoxes.

In the contemporary corporate landscape, appropriate governance frameworks encompass, but are not restricted to, well-functioning corporate board committees that guarantee the management's proper utilization of the enterprise's resources and accurate reporting of its economic status and operational efficacy in the most pertinent manner. The accurate and utmost-faithful-representation of the financial statement as a whole is a key reason the study investigates empirical evidence to elucidate and forecast the statistical relationship between the characteristics of remuneration committees on corporate boards and the financial re-engineering of actual activities. The study deployed an ex post facto research design. The study's data were gathered from the annual reports of 74 companies over an 11-year period from 2011 to 2021; a total of 814 observations were evaluated using least squares regression techniques. The study found that remuneration committee independence (RCIND) and diligence (RCDIL) have a significant negative impact on efforts for financial re-engineering of actual activities (RAFRE) (p-values 0.0000 and 0.0000 < 0.05; F-stat 16.84 and 13.67, respectively). Additionally, measures of remuneration committee potentials have a substantial adverse influence on efforts for actual activities' financial re-engineering (RAFRE) (p-value 0.0000 < 0.05; F-stat 11.23). The study finds that increasing the amount of RC qualities (independence and/or diligence) will dramatically reduce fundamental financial re-engineering activities in Nigerian companies. It was suggested, among other things, that listed companies maintain a high degree of independent directors as a viable weapon in combating management tendencies and efforts aimed at actual activities' financial re-engineering.

Family businesses (FBs) constitute 80% - 98% of all businesses in the world, with GDP of over 75%, employing over 75% of the working population and the highest contributor in economic growth in the world. Although the survival of FBs is associated with better succession, strategic management and planning factors (Chrisman et al, 2003), nepotism, poor communication, inward-looking, conflicts, financial indiscipline, difficult to change and lack of professionalism easily fail FBs. Some researchers believe Organizational Culture (OC) plays an important role in the survival of FBs. This study seeks to investigate the causes for the failures of FBs in Uganda and the role of OC on FB survival. This study uses Gibb Dyer’s dimension (1988:40) which viewed OC in form of paternalistic, laissez-faire, participative and professional cultures. Methodologically, in this study qualitative grounded theory is used as a research method to understand the impact of OC on the survival of FBs beyond first generatıons and data was analyzed through thematic content analysis as an independent qualitative descriptive approach on published works (Braun and Clarke, 2006). Our findings suggest that start up FBs need to adopt a paternalistic culture, those undergoing through turbulent situations, nepotism to adopt a participative culture, those undergoing growth and expansion to adopt a laissez-faire culture and FBs that lack professionalism and big in size to evolve into professional culture.

The aim of this research is to study the moderating role of family management in the relationships between the intensity of research and development and the occurrence of continuous technological innovation and between the existence of technological innovation outcomes and long-term firm performance. The results show that family management reduces efficiency in the conversion of research and development expenses into technological innovation outcomes over time. Our findings also suggest that the influence of family management significantly contributes to improving the effect of the achievement of technological innovation on long-term performance.

This study explores the relationship between diversity in board composition and the degree of a firm's international activity. Specifically, we posit that board resource variety has a positive relationship with the international activity of the firm and that the strength of board faultlines moderates this relationship. Using data collected from Spanish public companies over the period 2005 to 2010, our analysis shows strong support for our hypotheses. Our work contributes to the literature on board's diversity by demonstrating that board resource variety should be captured by considering "the director profile" rather than any single attribute and that this type of variety can engender subgroups that weakens its benefits. Therefore, our results have implications for the strategic management challenge international firms face when they put together their boards. A corporate board needs to structure itself in such a way as to benefit from the wealth of the variety of its resources, but without succumbing to the risks posed by conflicts between subgroups arising from the presence of faultlines.

This research aims to explore innovations in developing Islamic religious education curricula in overcoming challenges in the digital era. The era where information and communication technology dominates everyday life has had a significant impact on Islamic religious education. A key challenge is the negative impact that can arise from easy access to false or radical information through digital technology. On the other hand, the use of digital platforms can provide greater flexibility and accessibility in learning. This research aims to identify the impact of using digital technology on students' understanding of Islamic religious teachings, as well as identifying solutions and opportunities to maximize the benefits of digital technology in the context of Islamic religious education. The method used is literature review and secondary data analysis from various related studies. The research results show that the main challenges include educators lack of understanding of technology, limited digital facilities, and the need for content that supports digital literacy and relevant morals. This article recommends the need to increase digital competence for educators, develop materials that integrate technology and religious values, and support digital infrastructure. Thus, it is hoped that the PAI curriculum can answer the challenges of the digital era and produce a generation that not only excels in religious knowledge but is also able to adapt to technological changes.

This research mainly focused on the perceived benefits of ERP adoption for Small Family Businesses (SFB). In doing so, it explores some of the key benefits of an ERP system for SMEs. Through the exploration of the literature, a framework is constructed classifying the ERP benefits to SFBs, in that they are different to other businesses where ERP systems have historically been implemented. The literature also helps establish that there are some differences in how ERP benefits SFBs owed to the family ownership and management of business that brings about unique characteristics. Finally, this research concludes that adopting an ERP system within a SFB environment could assist in them achieving their main goals by improving business performance and better managerial control. Family businesses play a pivotal role in the global economy, contributing substantially to employment, innovation, and community development. However, they face unique challenges, particularly around succession planning, governance, and adapting to globalization. This paper examines the evolution of family businesses amidst these challenges, with a focus on succession issues, management styles, and the impact of globalization on prominent family enterprises in the USA, China, and India. Through case studies of companies like Walmart, BYD, and Reliance Industries, this study highlights the varied governance approaches employed to balance family control with professional management.
Findings reveal that successful family businesses often adopt hybrid governance models, integrating family oversight with professional management to enhance operational efficiency and maintain family values. Notable examples, such as the proactive succession planning by the Bajaj family and the visionary expansion of Reliance under Mukesh Ambani, demonstrate how strategic leadership can secure business continuity. The study also delves into the failures of companies like Ranbaxy and the UB Group, identifying common pitfalls such as lack of succession planning, over-leveraging, and family disputes.
This paper underscores the importance of structured governance, innovation, and adaptability in ensuring the sustainability of family-owned businesses in a globalized market. By examining successes and failures, it offers valuable insights into how family businesses can thrive by blending tradition with modern management practices, suggesting pathways for future research and practical application.

Purpose -The purpose of this article is to systematically review existing literature concerning the transmission of entrepreneurial values within the context of family entrepreneurship. Specifically, the study aims to address two primary inquiries: First, which entrepreneurial values transferred across generations have been discerned in family entrepreneurship literature? Second, what mechanisms for the transmission of these values have been identified within family entrepreneurship literature? Design/methodology/approach -We utilized the Web of Science database to identify relevant articles. We employed a broad set of Boolean search terms related to family, entrepreneurship and values. Ultimately, 77 articles were selected for detailed analysis based on their relevance to the topic. Findings -Our review identified a diverse array of entrepreneurial values that can be categorized into three themes: family values, family business values and societal entrepreneurial values. Furthermore, mechanisms facilitating the transmission of these values were classified into eight distinct types, i.e. relational embeddedness, vicarious learning, explicit communication, imprinting, educating, parenting styles, community-zeitgeist and genetics. The paper concludes with an agenda for future research on entrepreneurial value transmission in enterprising families. Practical implications -Understanding how entrepreneurial values are transmitted within family firms can inform practices such as succession planning, leadership development and fostering a culture of entrepreneurship across generations. Originality/value -This paper contributes to the theoretical development of family entrepreneurship by consolidating and synthesizing existing knowledge on entrepreneurial value transmission. It provides a comprehensive overview that can guide future empirical and conceptual investigations in this field.

This study empirically investigates the relationship between family governance and innovativeness in family firms, along with the moderating effects of a family's commitment to the firm and whether members of the founding generation are still involved in firm activities. Recent work has highlighted the lack of research into the different effects of generation involvement (i.e., that of founding or succeeding generations) on family firm outcomes. Drawing from agency theory, our focus on how governance influences firm innovativeness in relation to family commitment and generation involvement aims to fill this research gap related to family firm heterogeneity. Employing a sample of 332 family firms across multiple countries and industries, we use moderated regression analysis to find that family commitment and founding family generation involvement strengthen the relationship between family governance and firm innovativeness. Additionally, when family members from the founding generation are no longer involved, firms with a strong family commitment enhance the relationship between family governance and firm innovativeness more than firms with weaker family commitment. Our findings contribute to agency theory by providing boundary conditions within a family firm context, including the extent of family commitment and if the founding generation is still involved in the family business with these moderators influencing the family governance to firm innovativeness relationship.
