Artificial Sociality

Статья посвящена адаптации мигрантов к городской среде через субкультуру силовых единоборств. Теоретической рамкой анализа выступает теория сегментной ассимиляции, утверждающая, что ассимиляция мигрантов может происходить не только через включение в культурный мейнстрим принимающего общества, но и через свойственные ему суб- и контркультуры.
Объектом исследования являются мигранты-дагестанцы в Санкт-Петербурге, представляющие спорт высоких достижений в различных видах силовых единоборств. В отличие от классического
анализа в рамках теории сегментной ассимиляции, речь идет о мигрантах первого поколения. Исследование проводилось качественными социологическими методами.

Significant advances have been achieved within the past decade in the progress of theoretical and empirical studies of Artificial Intelligence. This article is an attempt, through a review of existing literature on Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence, to raise new questions and provide additional scientific data that will stimulate the potential and foster the forces of sociology and Artificial Intelligence studies to draw closer together. The point of departure for the article is the appearance of Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence in scholarly assembly. The authors then explore routines of the term Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence and the dilemmas of Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence. In what follows, they review how Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence appears in sociological and social sciences production. The authors turn to the closing remarks and finalize formulating three rules of what not to do when studying Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence from a sociological perspective.

Рецензия написана на книгу британского интеллектуала Дэвида Рансимена, посвященную размышлениям о будущем людей в эпоху искусственного интеллекта и больших данных. В своих рассуждениях он опирается на теоретические конструкции Томаса Гоббса о государстве как Левиафане и переносит их на тренды развития современного общества. Главный аргумент Рансимена заключается в том, что сегодня мы не наблюдаем ничего фундаментально нового, поскольку процесс отчуждения власти от человека и ее передачи внешним субъектам продолжается на протяжении нескольких сотен лет. Понятийный аппарат остался прежним, трансформация коснулась только субъектов - если раньше это были государства и корпорации, то теперь им на смену приходит искусственный интеллект.

«Умные» колонки завоевывают популярность во всем мире, и Россия - не исключение. Особенность «умных» колонок, привлекающая пользователей, заключается в интеграции в них голосовых помощников, общение с которыми происходит посредством вербальных команд. Тем не менее кажущаяся простота и удобство общения с «умными» колонками могут быть обманчивыми. Ряд научных статей, посвященных человекомашинному взаимодействию, поднимают проблему конфиденциальности информации, поскольку пользователь никоим образом не защищен от проникновения в его частную жизнь. В этом контексте мы поставили перед собой задачу осмыслить повседневные практики человекомашинного взаимодействия, акцентируя внимание на социальной безопасности при взаимодействии с гаджетами. Для этого в марте 2022 г. мы провели 20 полуструктурированных интервью среди пользователей «умных» колонок в г. Саранске. В ходе исследования мы пытались выяснить, боятся ли российские пользователи «утечек» данных через «умные» колонки; на кого они возлагают ответственность за это; наконец, следуют ли они каким-либо мерам предосторожности при взаимодействии с устройствами. Полученные результаты свидетельствуют, что большинство информантов не видят существенных проблем в коммуникации с «умными» колонками, чаще всего рассматривая их как обычный бытовой прибор. Схема взаимодействия с ними заключается в даче простой вербальной команды («включить музыку», «поставить таймер» и т. д.), не требующей ведения последующего диалога. Коммуникация с девайсами становится рутиной, они воспринимаются как неотъемлемая часть домашней обстановки, позволяющая структурировать досуговые практики. В паре «комфорт-безопасность» пользователи, по всей видимости, выбирают первое: о проблемах с конфиденциальностью они предпочитают не задумываться, хотя в то же время стараются не общаться с устройствами на острые социально-политические темы.

Objective: the paper aims to define the problems juridical theory and practice face with the progress of AI technologies in everyday life and correlate these problems with the human-centered approach to exploring artificial intelligence (Human-Centered AI).Methods: the research  critically analyzes  the relevant literature from various disciplines: jurisprudence, sociology, philosophy, and computer sciences.Results: the article articulates the prospects and problems the legal system confronts with the advancement of digital technologies in general and the tools of AI specifically. Artificial Intelligence (AI) regulatory and other governance mechanisms have only started to emerge and consolidate. Therefore, AI regulation, legislation, frameworks, and guidelines are presently fragmented, isolated, or co-exist in an opaque space between national governments, international bodies, corporations, practitioners, think-tanks, and civil society organisations. This article proposes a research design set up to address this problem by directly collaborating with targeted actors to identify principles for AI that are trustworthy, accountable, safe, fair, non-discriminatory, and which puts human rights and the social good at the centre of its approach. The article aims at clarifying the concept ‘artificial sociality’ in the human-machine interaction by answering the question whether artificial sociality is a prerequisite or a result of this interaction. The authors conducted a logical analysis of the definitions of sociality and artificial sociality as presented in the scientific literature, and conducted an empirical study of artificial sociality in the human-machine interaction with three methods - comparison of means, correlation analysis and discriminant analysis. All three methods were used in the analysis of the same data: indicators of the potential of the human-machine interaction and G. Hofstede’s six cultural dimensions. The field of human-computer interaction (HCI) investigates the intersection between the design of devices and users. From an early focus on interaction modeling based on psychological experiments, the field has since experienced a shift towards the study of how actual humans interact with autonomous devices. The field became conductive to ethnographic, observational and videographic studies of human-device interaction. Conversation-analytic HCI became possible. That said, this new wave of researchers was never truly able to dethrone the psychological common sense of the field.
