Abstract
'Social Networking' refers to a range of web-enabled, it enabled software programs that allow users to interact and work collaboratively with other users. It includes ability to browse, search, invite friends to connect and interact, share film reviews, comments, blog entries, favorites, discussions, events, videos, ratings, music, classified ads, tag and classified information and more. A social network allows individual to join and create a personal profile, then formality connect with other users of the system as social friend. This paper is mainly discusses about the social network, social networking, definition of social networking, its various important features, benefits and how social networking helps in libraries and librarians for doing various activities like information exchange, resource sharing, etc. These days everybody is using these various social networking. It can help to provide everyone up-to-date information at one platform related to their fields. As we know that libraries and librarians are the biggest information exchanging platforms then social networking is too much beneficial for the users and librarians.

Social networking is one of the most active web based activities that influences the modern world. In the present academic scenario social networking sites are widely adapted by academic community and have become a valuable resource to support their educational communications and collaborations. As we are living in this era of instant global communication and access to worldwide information, social networking web sites offer new outreach options for academic librarians. The application of social network in academic libraries helps the librarian to reshape the traditional ideas of library services. So the modern academic librarians are forced capitalize on social networking sites for the development of their libraries and their profession. Here a small attempt is made to trace out the areas where social networks can be applied for the development of academic libraries
In this scenario Social Networking sites are used as effective media of communication. The social networking sites are a tool to connect people together for common purpose. Now a day’s social networking sites helps to improve library profession as well as library services. The SNS are totally changed the traditional library services and information tools. Through the SNS library professionals can reach to number of users at time and they are able to provide similar kind of information to large community of the users. The use of social networking sites in library is increasing days by day and it helps to library professionals to build personal interaction with their users.This paper focused on use of SNS by library professionals, their purpose and how SNS are useful to them for improving library services.
The presence on Web 2.0 has significantly changed the role of the library and the way librarians interact with their users. Depending on the needs of the library, different Web 2.0 applications are used for different purposes and definitely will bring different impact on the users. For instance, streaming media such as YouTube has been the most popular video-sharing application that allows users to post personally developed videos/recordings or video tutorials to train users how to use library resources and access various services in their library. Whereas, social media such as Facebook is commonly used to interact with users, sharing library news or events, sharing pictures as well as marketing library services. This informative paper describes the use of Social Media in Academic Libraries and various services which can be implemented with the help of Social Media Channels and the type of content to be posted.
The main purpose of the present study is to shed light on the importance of social media, particularly Social Networking Sites (SNSs) in Library and Information centers (LICs). Libraries are slowly adopting SNSs to provide effective services to its user's community without wasting much of their time. Further, the paper highlights on the Internet and SNSs users, importance and general features of SNSs. A number of services which can be provided using SNSs are enlisted in this paper.

By using web technology, the deployment of global information and communication is done quickly and organized. Petra Christian University Library has already had a web application in information deployment of the library collection. However, the deployment of the collection has been doing by the library, but member cannot communicate and share their own collection each other. Library needs a tool as a media between library members, public people and Petra Christian University Library. Therefore, social network as one of communication media among people who share interest or activities can be used to solve library’s need. Library can use the social media services to communicate and disseminate information. The purpose of this study is to explores the use of social networking sites by the librarians and information centers. The study is based on the literature review. In order to get to inference the following objectives were analyzed:1. To identify the purpose of using Social Networking Sites by libraries and information center. 2. To know the benefits of Social Networking Sites. 3. To investigate the problems being faced by librarians using Social Networking Sites. In order to achieve the objectives of the study various papers of various authors have been observed, explored and thoroughly studied. It was explored that the most of the papers have revealed that social media networking sites are used to be in touch with the libraries and librarians so that the demands of the users may be fulfilled. It was also revealed that social media is a strong new way of communication, and the number of users famous on social media sites are rapidly increasing and the social media networking sites are useful for getting information remotely. The authors have identified and explored that social media networking sites are very useful to get relevant information on request. It was also observed that the social networking sites are good to make social and academic relations in educational environment. The study further investigated that time is precious to provide latest information to library users the libraries face power outrage / electricity problems to be connected with the users. It further revealed that it is difficult to use social media networking sites in remote areas where there is no electricity and internet connectivity. Keeping in view the studies it has been suggested that to fulfill the requirement of the common people, the remote areas be connected via internet and ensure the use of the social media networking sites like Facebook, YouTube LinkedIn, twitter, WhatsApp to get the latest information and be connected with the world.

The research paper examines the awareness of social networking sites (SNSs) among the students of Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College (DU). The purpose of this paper is to assess the perception of students in the context of SNSs for their academic work. To conduct the study survey method using questionnaire as data collection tool is used. Findings of the study said most of the students are aware about social networking sites and they used it on daily basis.
