Abstract
Vijay Bhujle has more than 35 years experience in process development, scale up and technology transfer. He has worked in pharma API manufacturing &formulation, polymer additives, soaps& detergent formulation, food and crop protection chemicals. He had a long stint from 1993 onwards with the erstwhile Ciba and later was its General Manager, Research & Technology. He had training on process safety, powder handling safety and audits at Ciba, Switzerland. He has conducted large number of EHS audits and incident investigations. Earlier he had also worked with Atul Ltd and also at Hindustan Lever Research Centre. His last stint was with Intertek, before starting his own company now, GVS Cibatech P Ltd alongwith a few of his colleagues from Ciba. His company provides consultancy services mainly in process safety, environmental services and regulatory services for pharma, food and chemical industries. He is a visiting faculty at Institute of Chemical Technology (UDCT), Mumba

, water contamination of a tank of methyl isocyanate in Bhopal, India initiated a series of events that led to a catastrophic toxic release, killing more than 3,000 residents and injuring over 100,000. Immediately after, leaders from the chemical industry asked AIChE to lead a collaborative effort to eliminate catastrophic process incidents by advancing state of the art technology and management practices, serving as the premier resource for information on process safety, supporting process safety in engineering, and promoting process safety as a key industry value. In the spring of 1985, CCPS was founded. Since that time, CCPS has incorporated experience-based learning from major and minor accidents and near-misses into a world-class collection of guideline documents, resource books, and online content. This paper will reflect on the history of CCPS, highlight some recent accomplishments, and present a glimpse at the future of process safety.

of the book is the large number of exaniples. However, detailed examination of these exercises suggests a high level of qualitative analysis and substantial simplification before numerical results are possible. In addition, many of the problems cite necessary data from papers originating in the infancy of Bioreactor Engineering. Problems are unnecessarily complex and often do not make or illustrate a key point. Chapter 7 through 9 are especially

CCPS's Vision 2020 describes the characteristics of companies with great process safety performance in the future. This work is extremely important to the process industries and other industries that handle toxic, flammable, and explosive materials because it establishes targets to which companies will aspire for years to come. In developing the vision, it was also recognized that there are issues beyond the scope of individual companies that need to be addressed to enable improved process safety performance. Therefore, in Vision 2020 there are activities that go well beyond any individual company, indeed beyond the industries. The purpose of this paper is to share CCPS's Vision 2020 with the Global Congress, begin the process of engaging the broader community in the vision and the steps to achieve it, and provide an opportunity for companies to begin comparing their current characteristics to the vision.

and updated CCPS Process Safety Incident Database (PSID), as well. The PSID, which includes incident learnings from both petroleum based and non-petroleum-based chemical facilities, will be available for use by CCPS member companies by mid-2022 [3]. The CCPS and API 2021 editions are designed to be consistent and complement each other. Details on the development history of these metrics are provided in both publications. Acknowledging that performance metrics continue to evolve, CCPS has created a webpage dedicated to process safety metrics and containing links to additional process safety metric resources [4]. Please notify CCPS if you find any issues in this Guide that may need to be addressed [5].
