Distributed framework for tele health monitoring system

The diagnosis of a patient primarily involves measurement of vital parameters such as temperature, blood pressure, heart rate and ECG. The focus of this paper is to create a remote medical diagnosis system for remote and rural areas where there is dearth of medical clinics and doctors. The paper presents an IOT architecture customized for two applications: physical sensors for rooms which records data of the user and relays it to the servers via the Internet where it is processed and analysed. Feedback actions based on the analysed data can be sent back to the user. A prototype of the proposed architecture has been built to demonstrate its performance advantages.

Rural health care is a one of the biggest challenges in India. With more than 70% of the population living in rural areas, it becomes all the more critical and high priority challenge for the authorities. This work proposes a MediAssist system for remote monitoring of patients, especially in rural areas. The system plans to focus on the health parameters of the patients admitted in the rural health subcentres. The paper highlights the application of various technologies like IOT and technologies such as Apache Kafka for capturing and processing continuos, real time data ie patient's vital parameters such as blood pressure, pulse rate, temperature. This paper proposes a remote healthcare system which is referred to as Telemedicine. Telemedicine is a platform that estableshes a connection between the patient and the doctor. This platform belongs to the internet of medical things (IoMT) by enabling multiple medical sensors to connect to a server either using multiple communication technologies such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or GSM technologies. The system collects data from several sensors and sends them using one of the aforementioned technologies using an Arduino Board, while the interface is made with matlab and C#. Additionally, a comparative study between the three communications technologies used to connect the medical sensors to the server is investigated. And a recommendation of the best suited technology is provided with regard to the nature of the application itself.

Afghanistan faces a significant challenge when it comes to technological awareness, particularly in the field of IT and Computer Science. The academic level in these areas is notably low, with a large portion of the population lacking understanding of computers and computer science. This knowledge gap poses a considerable obstacle for Computer Scientists aiming to educate and raise awareness about these crucial subjects. Recognizing the importance of maintaining good health, it is equally vital to regularly monitor one's health to detect any sudden changes that may occur in the future. In response, we have developed a system called the "Remote Patient Health Monitoring System." This innovative system is designed to be utilized in homes or various settings to track essential health parameters. The advent of mobile devices with diverse capabilities has led to an increased popularity in remote patient health monitoring at home. Leveraging these technologies, our system enables the monitoring of patients' health conditions and facilitates the sharing of vital health information with healthcare teams, including doctors, nurses, and specialists. However, the concern and anxiety of guardians for their loved ones while they are at work cannot be overlooked. By ensuring awareness and providing guidance regarding the patients, we aim to enhance the overall accountability of hospital management. This becomes especially crucial during times of increased strain on healthcare systems, such as the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. In our system, we harness the power of the Internet of Things (IoT), a network of interconnected devices, to capture, monitor, analyze, store, and display health data. Our solution includes the analysis of various parameters such as body temperature, blood pressure, and pulse sensor readings. To process the collected data, we employ an Arduino board as a processor. The WiFi module enables seamless transmission of data over the internet for in-depth analysis. The results are then stored and utilized for multiple purposes, providing flexibility and adaptability. When a critical health condition is detected, our system automatically notifies the attending doctor, ensuring timely intervention. By implementing IoT devices, we can significantly enhance the efficiency of healthcare facilities while minimizing the risks faced by medical professionals, especially in the context of infectious diseases like Covid-19. Overall, our comprehensive Remote Patient Health Monitoring System aims to bridge the technological gap in Afghanistan, empowering individuals and healthcare providers to proactively manage and monitor patients' health, regardless of their location.

Healthcare is a field that is rapidly developing in technology and services. Therefore we are concentrating on the implementation of a Healthcare and Monitoring System which will provide advantages and enable them to access different facilities anywhere and at any time. The system developed will be a website mainly consisting of two roles: Patient and Doctor. This will include functions such as registration of oneselves, filling out their health details including undergoing treatment, any medication being and downloading the report which can be sent to doctor with health condition via mail. Nearby hospitals can be found with the help of Google Maps API. Doctors can prescribe the required essentials medicines and precautions to be taken. At times of emergency patients can send an alert notification to doctor or hospital staff and can avail ambulance services. With the prescription, online ordering of medicines can be beneficial to users avoiding going to shops and waiting in queues. The symptoms checker allows users to mark their problems so that a required test and the best doctor in that field can be shown. For example if a user complains of having sore throat, cough and runny nose, which are symptoms of fever, can be detected and be directed to the apt doctor.Therefore this further adds online booking, updating and deleting of appointments with doctors. The ones who don't know the best doctors, can find them according to doctors and medical specialists and location. All records are maintained together and one can retrieve them using their reference number (unique for every patient). We are using a distributed database to gather and retrieve information stored in different computers and locations.

This report presents a distributed system for management and remote monitoring patients in Home Care, called PRMDS. This proposed system can capture and monitoring temperature, blood pressure, as other body signals through monitoring nodes. Sensors connected to a node by wired or wireless default interfaces captures these signals. To allow remote monitoring, a network connection should be configured. Each monitoring node should send information for registered nodes installed in other residences. Every node can be a server, avoiding common problems found on a centralized solution (e.g. server down). Our solution solves it managing a priority queue used to determine the new server in case of problem to connect the current server. For the users, health professionals, it is transparent and the access to patient data is maintained using the same address. Thus, our prototype consists of a monitoring module and some sensors to demonstrate the capture of signals. This prototype is connected to other modules (emulated by laptops) to demonstrate communication and management of the data distribution.

Neglecting one's health is a major contributor to the decline in overall well-being, often resulting in the onset of various diseases and health issues. The avoidance of such complications becomes feasible with the introduction of a device capable of monitoring heart pulses at regular intervals, ideally every 60 seconds. The main goal of this article is to design a healthcare system that ensures continuous monitoring of heart activity and temperature, functioning as a proactive tool to keep individuals informed about their physiological parameters. This involves the incorporation of a heart rate sensor and temperature sensor in a wearable device, essentially serving as a first aid tool. The heart rate is measured by detecting pulses and calculating beats per minute, utilizing an appropriate heart monitoring sensor tailored to the specific needs of the individual. The main concept revolves around designing a wearable device that harnesses the capabilities of the digital age, making use of features such as wireless sensors and rapid data transfer through the internet of things, accessible on various smart devices. The device focuses on detecting and monitoring heart rate and temperature, with the sent data being relayed to the healthcare provider. The doctor can then monitor the patient's status through the displayed data on thing-speak.

DEVELOPMENT OF AN ADVANCED MODEL FOR A REMOTE HEALTH TELEMONITORING SYSTEM FOR BLOOD PRESSURE, 2024

With the advancement of wireless technologies, wireless sensor networks and IoT (Internet of Things) can be used to monitor and track the conditions of patients in the healthcare sector. Remote Health Telemonitoring System is one of the components of telemedicine capable of monitoring the vital signs of patients in a remote location using IoT platform. The data collected (vital signs) can help medical practitioners to proffer solution to chronically ill patient from anywhere in the world. Telemonitoring of the vital signs of the elderly and chronically ill patients using IoT plaforms is very crucial in helping to save their lives. The manual medical monitoring done in the Nigerian hospitals has a lot of challenges ranging from faulty instruments, negligence of duty on the part of the nurses left to do this monitoring, absence of doctors on call from their offices etc. This paper makes use of real time readings of the blood pressure. This system consists of the design of a Physical hardware and software. The hardware part deals with the development of a physical model, the construction design, electrical and electronic circuitry. This model has a GUI where the medical practitioner can select whichever readings that will be taken. All this data captured are sent to an IoT platform called Thingspeak which is an online IoT platform. For the Data security, the IoT platforms will make use of Cloudflare to avoid unauthorized access to the data collected. Also the developed model has both the private and public channel that can be used. For data security, the medical practitioner will make use of private channel and the Database used for this model is AWS cloud (Amazon Web server). The medical practitioners can be wherever he or she is, access this data, and proffer health solution to a sick patient. The collected real time health data can be remotely monitored by logging into the IoT platforms using mobile smart devices or a Computer System. For the programming aspect of this work I used C++ and C for the hardware design and for the programming environment I used Arduino IDE.

This paper deals with design and developed for remote healthcare monitoring system. The primary function of this system is to constantly monitor patient's physiological parameters such as pulse rate, Temperature and ECG. In hospitals, where patient's physiological parameters are needed to be constantly monitored, is usually done by a doctor or other paramedical staff for maintaining a record of it. It is a tedious method. In this proposed system transmitting module continuously reads patient's pulse rate or heart beat rate, temperature and ECG through a pulse sensor, temperature sensor and ECG electrode.
