View related articles View Crossmark data Citing articles: 31 View citing articles Equity in transport: theoretical approaches and practices With the growing social awareness worldwide, understanding the equity implications of transport policies and investments is becoming increasingly important. This poses a major challenge in the assessment and appraisal of transport projects and policies, in which equity issues are not seriously addressed. In fact, current evaluation methods in transport marginally account for equity issues, especially in Europe, and this topic is usually not dealt with in EU and local authorities' guidebooks for transport project evaluation.
