Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) present complex interactions that challenge traditional evaluation techniques like simulation. This paper surveys various models used in WSN literature to capture and predict system behaviors effectively. It introduces a classification system for these models, highlights associated tools, and discusses future challenges and directions for research in this field.
