IOT based Industrial Automation

Modern Industries are adopting software driven automation system. The data generated by various resources can be used for monitoring industrial plants. Decisions are taken based on parameters provided by the system. The actions can be controlled by the user or by an automated system. Conventionally most of the parameters are available to the users within the premise in a standalone computer. Solution is to have a monitoring system which can be migrated to mobile system or a desktop pc so that the plant can be monitored remotely with the help of smart mobile phones. The system comprises of a wireless mode of communication and a raspberry pi system that can operate on windows or Linux platform. The parameters like emission of gases, temperature, relay circuit, are monitored.

This paper gives details and a prototype for monitoring different parameters of electronic machines and controlling them using IoT. This prototype contains UI (User Interface), hardware devices, cloud (Web Server). Node MCU (Microcontroller Unit) for prototyping. The ESP8266 module is one of the low cost and high features modules which makes it an ideal candidate to use in the prototype. Not all manufacturing plants consist of automation of controlling machines, and some machine controlling systems are available but they are not very cost-efficient. This prototype will be giving them an opportunity to add automation to their manufacturing plants, at a very low cost. Automating low-level tasks like switching ON and OFF electronic machines will give cost-benefit for big organizations by removing human involvement. This proposed system will help the organization not only control the electronic machines but also monitor them so that they can get the maximum use of their machinery. This monitoring and controlling machines can be done remotely, this gives extra power to the organization. This system we can use in the Medicine Manufacturing industry where before storing anything they need to create an environment that's cool or hot. Also, we can use this in Metal, Plastic Moulding plants where we need to start machines early to get ready for work.

— Internet of Things based global industrial process monitoring through wireless communication is based on IoT which is rapidly increasing technology. IoT is the network of physical objects or things embedded with electronics, software, sensors, and network connectivity, which enables these objects to collect and exchange data system which will automatically monitor the industrial applications and generate Alerts/Alarms or take intelligent decisions using concept of IoT. A secured and energy efficient wireless industrial automation system via credit card sized single board computer called raspberry pi. The work is to control the industrial devices, managing the power utilities. These are all done through Wi-Fi network with help of server pc. It will reduce the power usage and to alert the people about the critical situations in the industry. This can be done by using the corresponding sensors. The system will activate the alarm interfaced with the raspberry pi during the critical situations and motors were automated in which when the tank is full, motor will automatically stops the flow of the chemical and when the tank is full SMS is send to the user in the industry.

The Internet of Things is indeed the talk of the town these days. From the perspective of the industries, it makes them more efficient by enabling us to control them and get their state from virtually anywhere. The biggest motivation for us was to be a part of this industrial revolution and go back with some learning that we can apply later on in our careers as well. As mentioned, being a very new topic, there was a lot of scope for research and an opportunity to come up with a prototype that has not been developed by many yet. It gives us immense pleasure and a sense of satisfaction, that we gave our 100% and developed something meaningful that can be used as a starting point to develop an end to end IoT solution in the actual production environment.

Cost effective, intelligent and network capable devices allow the proliferation of smart home applications in common households. However, user documentation has not evolved to handle end-user installation as complex interaction patterns become increasingly difficult for a human to understand. We propose an extension to the openHAB home automation framework based on model driven technologies that enables personalized printed documentation. Our system allows the setup of a complex home automation scenario using only pen-andpaper interfaces. While the user experience of generated printed documentation can still be improved, the user study presented in this paper shows significant improvements of average task completion time compared to the control group.

In our project, we are trying to implement IoT in the manufacturing area for monitoring the industries and obtaining the crucial data that can be used to implement automated decisions using machine learning for the safety of the workers in an industry an increasing the productivity and efficiency of an Industry. Also, we will discuss some the current trends in the Industrial IoT or Industry 4.0 and see If there could be any improvement that can be done in this sector and discuss challenges we can face in implementing IoT and how can be these challenges be addressed. Industry4.0 is a name given to the current trend of automation and data exchange in manufacturing technologies. It includes cyber-physical systems, the Internet of things, cloud computing and cognitive computing. Industry 4.0 is considered as the fourth industrial revolution. All these, when implemented to a Manufacturing Industry, can improve the production system and Safety of an Industry.
