REVIEW OF ONLINE EXAMINATION SYSTEM

Abstract
Time pressures leads to use of more efficient exam tools, such as onlineexams, instead of traditional paper exams. But teachers may face challenges when introducing on line exams in a higher education context. This paper describes what sort of challenges will be there when introducing online exams. Online Examination System is anApplication software solution, which allows universities, schools orany institute to conduct and manage examinations through an online environment. We have to use local or global network to conduct Online Examination. There are various problems faced in manual examination system like delay in result, loss of data, time taken in filtering of records, time taken in searching of records, data security problem & very high degree of human effort & materials are needed .System maintenance is also very difficult & takes lot of time & effort. Online examination is very important part of E-Learning it is very efficient, fast, accurate & user friendly. This type of system needs a network server where data is placed and from that server all users get access. This paper describes the principle of the on line Examination, gives information about mainfunctionalities of the system, and security features of the system.

The main purpose of this paper was to develop an online examination system suitable for both Academic and Non-Academic examinations. Prior to start the design and development of the system three online examination systems were analyzed to make the newly developed system more flexible and user friendly in the context of Bangladesh. Three Data Flow Diagrams (DFDs) and one E-R diagram have been developed to represent the whole system. Different features of the online examination system are discussed in this paper. The features include user's registration, examination instruction, valid time of examination, time reminder, submission of the answer script, and release of the examination results. The system enables the admin or super admin to create a test from a question bank that comprises different subject areas. Testing of the system is done with ten users with a test that included 20 questions from four subject areas such as Bangla, English, General Knowledge, and Science and Technology. It is a multilingual system that permits users to conduct tests in their mother language.
— Cloud Technology has established as a scientifically, commercially and industrially important technology worldwide on the basis of its huge storage capacity and scalability. Online examinations have gained nationwide popularity and demand from students, guardians and faculties of all academic levels but these online examinations have a serious drawback. After an examinee log into an online examination system, there is a strong possibility of accidental loss of internet connection. In this type of situation, without internet connection, an examinee cannot submit their e-answer paper and the online examinations are cancelled. In this paper, we have proposed an advanced online examination system which can successfully overcome the said drawback. In the system we propose to develop it on the cloud platform. While appearing for any examination through this system, if accidentally the internet connection gets lost, then also an examinee will be able to continue and complete answering the paper fully and finally will be able to submit the e-answer sheet, even in the absence of internet connection.
ABSTRACT This study was carried out on the design and implementation of post utme online examination system, a case study of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba - Akoko, Ondo State. Online Examination System is a system based on carrying out test and examination, which were carried out manually with the aid of computer and internet technology Mustakerov & Borissova (2011). The project work support and implement the three structural layers proposed by Aimin & Jipeng (2009), the three layers were the administrator, Student and instructor, also the architecture of Jin & Ma (2008) which focus on this layers were adopted in the development. Furthermore, Wilson (2004) investigated the extent the feedback process affects the student performance by comparing with the students who receive classical face-to-face education. The author emphasized that student feedbacks may render evaluation process more efficient. The current study is inline with Wilson (2004) and also with the view of Crisp & Ward (2008), on the other hand, that getting feedbacks in the systems with too many students can only be achieved with the aid of online systems. And lastly, in their study, Shen et al. (2001) emphasized the importance of adjustment and update processes based on student feedbacks for proper execution of online examination. The current research makes use of this trend in the integration of feedback system in Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba - Akoko online examination system. In addition, there are other potentially problematic issues to consider. There are consistent situational or environmental characteristics of situations where students cheat (Leming, 1979; Maramark & Maline, 1993). Most cheaters recognize that cheating is wrong, but believe that they are in special circumstances that make it right for them to cheat (Sykes & Matza, 1957). The second of the problems concerns enrolment. No matter how securely the system is designed, if the correct person is not enrolled, the use of biometrics does not help (Ashbourn, 1999; Boves & Koolwaaij, 1998; Schneier, 1999). Although these disadvantages should not discourage developers from creating online support, they should be considered during planning and designing stages (Aimin & Jipeng 2009) this serve as a motivation for the current project. Primary contribution of this study is the proposed online examination system having an integrated and flexible structure. The system manages a number of functions such as collection of feedbacks from students, generating reports and submitting them to the managers and providing proposals in the decision-making processes by help of analysis within a single module as distinct from the other studies found in the literature.

Examination Department is one of the core parts of any higher educational organizations which provides essential service to the students and academic staff members of the organizations such as providing semester exam applications, scanned certified copy of certificates & transcript of students, and time table, result updates whenever they need and wherever they are, etc. The existing methods have many drawbacks such as time-consuming, onsite working staff service, can't provide immediate service to the students, and much more since the majority of the works are done by using MS Excel, MS words, and onsite work force. Any online system can be developed such as a web application or mobile application to overcome these issues through easy user interfaces via the internet connection using various web and mobile technologies such as web programming, database technologies, scripting languages, and user interface designing tools. Furthermore, an online system can be designed to assist both department's works, and administrative tasks from anywhere and anytime like a virtual office; which can help incorporate staff and students via real-time chat to reduce crowed inside office and swift update to the registered students and staff through the system's SMS service. System security can be increased with the help of user authentication using encryption methods.

This paper describes my first research experience in the Online examination system in this COVID-19 Pandemic. The method in this research used a descriptive research design using a survey study approach on how to secure the online examination system. The implementation of a secured online examination in the new normal era is important to continue to prevent transmission of COVID-19. The conclusion of this study is the score of the lackings of an online examination system needs to be improved in the new normal era.

—With the development and popularization of computer network in science and education, the traditional way of examination with examination papers, answering mode and score management is undergoing tremendous change. To resolve the problem, a student's online examination system is designed and implemented. There are three modules (named administrator, teachers and students) in the students online examination system based on B/S architecture. Functions such as system management, teacher user management, examination paper bank management and issue announcement are belonging to the administrator module. The function of the teacher module includes teacher information maintenance, student account management, exam management module, examination paper management, examination paper analysis, result statistics and so on. And the function of the student module includes student information maintenance, online examination, score query and other functions. Later practical application proved that the students online examination system can reduce the workload of teachers and improve the teaching efficiency.
