As far as the description of Portuguese compounds is concerned, there is no reliable source. The only available material is supplied by traditional grammars and by the knowledge of the language. This may well be a consequence of the fact that, within this particular language, compounding is a much less "dependable" word formation process than derivation, but it provides no evidence that it is not an available device.

Resumen: Este trabajo es parte del proyecto de doctorado titulado "La palabra prosódica en Portugués" que propone una investigación sistemática del dominio de la palabra prosódica en la variedad del Portugués, teniendo en cuenta (i) la formación del dominio prosódico en relación al comportamiento prosódico de palabras clíticas (palabras con acento primario) con la palabra lexical que está unida y las palabras compuestas, y (ii) las pruebas fonológicas que definen cómo el dominio de las reglas fonológicas. Sin embargo, el objetivo de este trabajo es debatir las pruebas prosódicas que palabras compuestas que son relevantes para la hipótesis de que una palabra compuesta cómo 'alegremente' puede formar dos palabras prosódicas en el grupo de palabra prosódica en el portugués brasileiro. UID/LIN/03213/2013MORDigital is a newly funded Portuguese lexicographic project that aims to produce high-quality and searchable digital versions of the first three editions (1789; 1813; 1823) of the Diccionario da Lingua Portugueza by António de Morais Silva, preserving and making accessible this important work of European heritage. This paper will describe the current state of the art, the project, its objectives and the methodology proposed, the latter of which is based on a rigorous linguistic analysis and will also include steps necessary for the ontologisation of knowledge contained in and relating to the text. The Pluricentric Corpus of the Portuguese Language (CPLP Corpus) aims to provide comparable corpora for the national varieties of the countries where Portuguese is an official language, making it possible to undertake corpus-based comparisons among the varieties of these countries. It is intended as a publicly available corpus for comparative linguistics and language resource development, but furthermore constitutes one of the pillars of the Vocabulário Ortográfico Comum da Língua Portuguesa (VOC), the official spelling dictionary for Portuguese. The headword list in VOC is partly derived from lexicographic tradition, which is to date based almost exclusively on the European and Brazilian varieties, and partly made up of words retrieved from the CPLP corpus, many of them included for the first time in official language resources for Portuguese. We discuss nominalizations in Portuguese formed by the suffix -ura. We have done a corpus-based description of the behavior of these nominals and proposed a type ontology to categorize them. In order to offer a rich description, we also tested all words formed by -ura in co-predication contexts to check if their types could be co-predicated. Although our main goal was to produce a corpus-based description on those nominals, we have found that may be the frequency of use of a given word has a special role on the acceptability of co-predication between different senses of a nominalization.

Computational Processing of the Portuguese Language, 2020

We present our ongoing efforts towards the creation of a new Portuguese corpus based on the “Dicion ́ario Hist ́orico-Bibliogr ́afico Brasileiro”. The aim to add as many linguistic annotations as possible using widely accepted annotation schemas and distributing all data in standard formats. This first exploratory work revisits what is already done and tests different tools to detect errors and look for the best methods to tackle the problem.
