The significant growth in multimedia content retrieval has led to a diverse range of approaches and systems, complicating interoperability. To address this challenge, the MPEG committee has developed the MPEG Query Format (MPQF), a standardized interface for multimedia database queries. This article details the implementation of a semantic MPQF validator and processing engine for MPEG-7 multimedia databases, highlighting its role in improving the querying process within such systems.
