Survey Report on Various Image Inpainting Methods
2014
Abstract
Image Processing, a field which is rapidly evolving, has its applications in various aspects of science and engineering. It is a method of performing some operations on image in order to get an enhanced image or to extract some useful information from it. Application of image processing is image inpainting whose purpose is to restore the image to create a better image. Image inpainting aims at filling in missing pixels in a large unknown region of an image in a visually plausible way. There are various methods proposed for image inpainting. The challenging area of current inpainting algorithms is to restore both texture and edge characteristic information for large and thick damaged regions in an image. Merging the missing region with its surroundings and preserving both texture and structure information are the research key of image inpainting. In this paper a survey is done on various image inpainting methods.
