The present study was conducted among 159 unmarried adolescents (80 non-athletes and 79 athletes) of age 15 to 19 years. The study participants belong to Bengali speaking Hindu ethnic group of Kolkata, the capital city of West Bengal State of India. Data were collected on socio-demographic and menstrual characteristics using pre-tested questionnaires. Anthropometric measurements were taken following standard methods. Descriptive statistics were used to understand the differences in menstrual characteristics between athletes and non-athletes, stepwise linear regression analyses were carried out to predict age at menarche, menstrual cycle length and duration of menstrual discharge using socio-demographic and anthropometric variables as well as athletic status as independent variables. Logistic (binary) regression was carried out to assess the strength of association between menstrual characteristics (as dependent variables) and athletic status, socio-demographic and anthropometric variables, and other menstrual characteristics (independent variables). The study participants differ significantly (p£0.05) for certain menstrual characteristics such as age at menarche, cycle length, skipped cycle, premenstrual syndrome, heavy discharge when compared for their athletic status. Certain anthropometric and socioeconomic variables were found to be significantly associated with their menstrual characteristics. The study results demonstrate that menstrual functioning among adolescents is significantly influenced by their athletic status. The findings of this study would help health care professionals to devise future health care programs for adolescents in general and athletes in particular.

In this study, we investigated the genetic variation within thyroglobulin promoter region of swamp and riverine buffaloes using PCR-SSCP technique and sequencing, and also analyzing association of polymorphism with the milk production traits. The study revealed four conformational patterns, A, B, C, and D among 323 buffaloes of two riverine breeds and different swamp populations. The frequency of SSCP variant 'A' was found to be invariably high among all buffalo populations. Variant 'C' was found to be absent in pure swamp population and present with higher frequency among riverine dairy breeds Mehsana and Nili Ravi. Frequency of D variant was observed to be highest in buffalo population, representing riverine and hybrid types. Sequencing of three representative PCR products of each of the SSCP variants, revealed three polymorphic sites respo...

Fill the region of missing information from a signal using surrounding information and re-form signal is the basic work of inpainting algorithms. Here in this paper we have studied and reviewed many different algorithms present for doing image inpainting and explain their approach. We have briefly explain some algorithms for video inpainting applications. This paper contain work done in the field of image inpainting and guide newcomers who are willing to work in image inpainting field.

In this paper, an algorithmic approach is proposed that gives a probability, such that the highly dependent modules in system must be analyzed by the development team for fault proneness and defects. The higher the coupling, interdependency between the modules is increased and it is alarming issue in software engineering tasks. There is an enormous amount of research done on direct and indirect coupling, but this paper approaches on the effect of coupling to predict defects and how they are propagating between the modules. Every software product is tested for defects and bugs before it is given to acceptance testing to users. The paper focuses on testing the defect propagation percentage of every module in a dependent system (dependent modules). The greater the percentage of defect propagation factor between two dependent module, implies that the coupling between them is higher and the probability of the module to be fault prone increases. Taking this into consideration, the testing team saves the time by considering more on the modules for which the percentage defect propagation factor is higher. It ensures time, cost and efficiency which are the main factors of a software industry.

Identification of polymorphism in fatty acid binding protein 3 (FABP3) gene and its association with milk fat traits in riverine buffalo (Bubalus bubalis)
Tropical Animal Health and Production, 2016

An SNP g.307C > T was identified in the intron 2 (+53 exon 2) region of FABP3 gene of Indian buffaloes. The SNP identified was genotyped in 692 animals belonging to 15 riverine, swamp and hybrid (riverine × swamp) buffalo populations of diverse phenotypes and utilities, by PCR-RFLP. A marked contrast was observed between the C and T allele frequencies in three types of buffaloes. The frequency of C allele ranged from 0.67 to 0.96 in pure swamp buffalo populations, with the highest in Mizoram (0.96). Whereas the frequency of T allele was high across all the Indian riverine buffalo breeds, ranging from 0.57 to 0.96. None of the genotypes at FABP3 g.307C > T locus was found to have significant association with milk fat and other production traits in Mehsana dairy buffalo breed. Our study revealed marked differences in the allele frequencies between riverine and swamp buffaloes at FABP3 g.307C > T locus, without any significant association with different milk traits in riverine buffaloes.

Polymorphism in the Coding Region Sequence of GDF8 Gene in Indian Sheep

A 1647 bp sequence was generated, encompassing 208 bp of the 5'UTR, 1128 bp of coding region (exon1, 2 and 3) as well as 311 bp of 3'UTR. The sheep and goat GDF8 gene sequences were observed to be highly conserved as compared to cattle, buffalo, horse and pig. Several nucleotide variations were observed across coding sequence of GDF8 gene in Indian sheep. Three polymorphic sites were identified in the 5'UTR, one in exon 1 and one in the exon 2 regions. Both SNPs in the exonic region were found to be non-synonymous. The mutations c.539T > G and c.821T > A discovered in this study in the exon 1 and exon 2, respectively, have not been previously reported. The information generated provides preliminary indication of the functional diversity present in Indian sheep at the coding region of GDF8gene. The novel as well as the previously reported SNPs discovered in the Indian sheep warrant further analysis to see whether they affect the phenotype. Future studies will need to establish the affect of reported SNPs in the expression of the GDF8 gene in Indian sheep population.

This is the huge waste of energy in the whole world and should be changed. This paper discusses an intelligent streetlight energy-saving system based on power line communication technology with RTOS. Here we are going to implement the intelligent streetlight energy saving system based on PLC (Power Line Communication) Technology and RTOS. From PC, we are controlling the Street Lights through microcontroller via PLC. Microcontroller will be placed in each street light. ON & OFF signal for each Street light will be given from PC
