Book-Indianness and Identity
Abstract
This book takes a close look at their works, examining how they navigate these themes in their fiction. While their locations may differ—spanning the USA, Canada, and Trinidad—their struggles resonate universally. Their characters grapple with the same questions: Who am I? Where do I truly belong? What parts of my past must I hold onto, and what must I let go? By highlighting these narratives, this book seeks to provide a deeper understanding of diaspora writing and its defining characteristics, particularly as expressed by women writers. Beyond individual experiences, their works offer a broader perspective on the diasporic condition, making a sincere attempt to identify shared literary traits across the global landscape. Through their voices, the complexities of migration, assimilation, and resistance find a compelling space in literature—one that continues to evolve with every story told.
