SECURITY ISSUES, ATTACKS AND CHALLENGES IN WIRELESS SENSOR NETWORK

Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) is a recent advanced technology of computer networks and electronics. The WSN increasingly becoming more practicable solution to many challenging applications. The sensor networks depend upon the sensed data, which may depend upon the application. One of the major applications of the sensor networks is in military. So security is the greatest concern to deploy sensor network such hostile unattended environments, monitoring real world applications. But the limitations and inherent constraints of the sensor nodes does not support the existing traditional security mechanisms in WSN. Now the present research is mainly concentrated on providing security mechanism in sensor networks. In this context, security aspects of the sensor networks like requirements, classifications, and type of attacks etc., is analyzed in this survey paper.

A data network is a digital telecommunications network that allows nodes to share resources. Two types of networks are available, wired and wireless networks. Wireless networks become popular because of its wireless setup and its abundant applications in home, business and telecommunications networking. With the invent of sensor which react and notice some type of input from the physical or environmental conditions, such as pressure, temperature, beam, Wireless sensor network developed. The WSN are stretchy, simple to employ and straight forward. They are growing because of low cost and efficient. Wireless Sensor Networks consist of many sensor nodes that are distributed in a field and have physical capabilities to measure or sense things in the real world, do some computations, communicate with each other and deliver result to base station. With the rising expertise, the things on security are also advancing day by day. Though the network completely secured during the time of designing, intruders and attackers always find their way to get inside it and accomplish attacks. This paper presents a noteworthy analysis on the security threats of wireless sensor network. Threats are of two types active and passive attacks. Passive attacks are just listening the communication lines, whereas active attacks are modifying the data in communication lines. Different threats belonging to active and passive threats are studied in detail.

Abstract-Today, There are growing interest to use communication services; accessible for advanced reasearch which caused creating wireless sensor networks. Network security is a major challenge. Network security is so challenging task. Considering to limited resources of sensor nodes; creating security in wireless sensor network is harder rather than other traditional networks. Considering hostile nature location; wireless media and limited nature of resources in small sensor in this networks accompany with security challenges lager than traditional networks. Due to natre of location without supervision and limitation of internal resources; the security of wireless network is a challenging task. On the other hand; due to limitation of resources; the security thechniques of typical computer network in "WSN" can't be performed. However; wireless sensor networks suffer from a lot of limitations like poer limitation; Processing capabilities; unattended operation and etc. Also, It can be expected the threat and attacks in all layers of the network protocl. The wireless sensor networks have benn determined with severity of computational limitations and temporary energy resources of operating environment. In this essay, the security challenges and kinds of attacks in the sensor networks will be evaluated, due to meet challenges, The requiered strategies are suggested

Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) has a huge range of applications such as battlefield, surveillance, emergency rescue operation and smart home technology etc. Apart from its inherent constraints such as limited memory and energy resources, when deployed in hostile environmental conditions, the sensor nodes are vulnerable to physical capture and other security constraints. These constraints put security as a major challenge for the researchers in the field of computer networking. This paper reflects various issues and challenges related to security of WSN, its security architecture. The paper also provides a discussion on various security mechanisms deployed in WSN environment to overcome its security threats.

There are wireless sensor network as a new technology today. The wireless sensor network consists of a large number of small nodes which are separately working, on several occasions continue to work without access to renewable energy sources. finally, the security is so important in acceptance or usage the sensor network with multiple applications. The wireless sensor network is so vulnerable to security attacks because of the nature of the broadcast transmitting devices, the nodes are not maintainable physically in dangerous and hostile environments. The sensor network usually has been characterized by limited energy, limited power consumption, low bandwidth and small size memory. Which all of them caused that he creating of security to be raised in requested environment. The present essay evaluated the security threats in wireless sensor networks and suggested the coping strategies with them.
