- Girish N. Nair (S'97-M'99) was born in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia. He received the B.E. degree (Elec.), the B.Sc. degree (mathematics), and the Ph.D. (electrical engineering), all from the University of Melbourne, Melbourne, Australia, in 1994, 1995, and 2000, respectively. He is currently a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, the Univer- sity of Melbourne, with research interests in the inter- section of communications, information theory, and control.
- Dr. Nair is the recipient of several prizes, including the Best Theory Paper award at the UKACC International Conference on Control, Cambridge, U.K. (2000) and the LR East Medal in electrical engineering (1994). Robin J. Evans (M'80-SM'82-F'02) was born in Melbourne, Australia, in 1947. He received the B.E. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Melbourne, Melbourne, Australia and the Ph.D. degree from the University of Newcastle, Newcastle, Australia, in 1969 and 1975, respectively.
