I briefly discuss the accomplishments of string theory that would survive a complete falsification of the theory as a model of nature and argue the possibility that such a survival may necessarily mean that string theory would become its own discipline, independently of both physics and mathematics.

This is a brief overview on the current status of string theory for non-specialists. The purpose is to give an aspect on the nature of string theory as a unified theory of all interactions including quantum gravity and to discuss future perspectives. Particular emphases are put on the mysteries why string theory contains gravity and why it resolves the ultraviolet problems.
The search for a reliable foundation of physical reality has had many setbacks and is slow. Side roads were taken that did not lead to the desired goal. This document shows that there is an alternative path that leads to a better result. This result can be reproduced in a single sentence. This very short summary does need the necessary explanation. The paper provides this explanation. The paper also shows the relation between the foundation and several aspects of physics, such as quantum physics, classical physics, optics, and cosmology.

Theory has become an important part of any discipline today. There was a time when life had a very few theories to look to. But today anywhere you look everywhere there is theory for anything and everywhere. Theory creates different reactions in different individuals. For any lay man, the word theory can mean something philosophical or a thing beyond comprehension. For a student theory becomes a boring part of their syllabi where they will have to learn the concepts and the name of difficult and foreign (even difficult to pronounce sometimes) individuals.

The first decades of the twentieth century were marked by two revolutionary scientific accomplishments, the theory of relativity and quantum mechanics, with repercussions still felt today. Relativity theory and quantum mechanics became the two most important branches of "Modern Physics" that emerged as an alternative to "Classical Physics" (a term often used interchangeably with that of "Newtonian" or "Galilean" physics). No field of science (from astronomy to the life sciences), no field of knowledge (from philosophy to sociology), and no artistic practice (from architecture to the fine arts) was left untouched by these investigations into the nature of our physical universe. For many observers far and near, modern physics became a catalyst for much that was new about the modern world.

The fact that the two main pillars of modern Physics are incompatible with each other; the fact that some unsolved problems have accumulated in Physics; and, in particular, the fact that Physics has been invaded by weird concepts (as if we were in the Middle Ages); these facts are quite sufficient to confirm the need for a new paradigm in Physics. But the conclusion that a new paradigm is needed is not sufficient, without an answer to the question: is there sufficient sources and resources to construct a new paradigm in Physics? This comment on the Big Bang and universal expansion claims they don't exist - reflecting the doubts of Albert Einstein and, perhaps surprisingly, the lifelong doubts of Edwin Hubble who is usually credited with discovery of that expansion. For supporting details, the commentary draws on quantum entanglement and its possible extrapolation to macroscopic or macro-entanglement. It also replaces cosmological redshift – due to the supposed expansion of spacetime - with gravitational redshift because of General Relativity's statement that gravity is the curves and warps in space-time and space-time (the universe) therefore is a continuum of gravitational waves - some large, powerful and presently detectable; most tiny, weak and undetected. It also presents a novel, but very simple, mathematical approach called "vector-tensor-scalar geometry" which may help explain, with Stephen Hawking’s assistance, the “mass from gravity” concept, gravitational-electromagnetic unification, the Higgs boson, the particles of the nuclear forces, planet formation and black holes.
