Actualmente resulta necesario que los grandes proyectos de ingeniería aborden las variables sociales, económicas y ambientales desde el momento inicial de diseño y dimensionado de los sistemas constructivos. La comunicación analiza distintas soluciones constructivas que permiten tanto el cumplimiento de las exigencias del DB-HR como la adopción de criterios de ingeniería sostenible, tomando como ejemplo el proyecto "Residencia Universitaria Rey Juan Carlos de Madrid". Así, inicialmente, los ESV y ESH son optimizados acústicamente mediante modelizaciones 3D y, posteriormente, son evaluados mediante otras variables, considerando, además de los criterios sociales relativos al confort acústico, las condiciones de ejecución, la generación de residuos, el consumo de materias primas y energía y el coste. Por tanto, el estudio permite obtener la información necesaria en la toma de decisiones para la realización de un proyecto constructivo, de cara a aportar y potenciar criterios encaminados al diseño sostenible en edificación.

This paper presents a study of Augmented Reality as one of the most innovative imaging technologies in construction´s design process. Unlike virtual reality, AR allows to overlap the virtual image to the real world. Our proposal is to develop a document that acts as a User´s Manual of the building. The graphical data extracted from the AR experience provides the necessary information to compose a building´s data warehouse once it is finished. The AR approach allows the parties involved on a project team to use it as a bridge. It provides the integration and the information exchange in a concisely and accurately way. This dynamical communication allows each party to follow and participate of other relevant disciplines involved during the design process. The intention is to present a simulation that represents constructive elements of a finished building. We used an AR tool, threedimensional modelling software and QR codes. Once those 3D´s models are available on the net, can be transported, displayed and updated. They are easily visualized by browsers of Augmented Reality through mobile devices (as they have a video camera, GPS and internet). Moreover there is a possibility that allow us to add a range of relevant information during the development of the project. We could mention: geographical coordinates, urban data volumes, solar energy studies, the relationship with the environment, access, simulation of materials, budget, etc. Simulations were developed on a real construction project to check the possibilities of the AR in a -remote/ synchronous or live/ asynchronous -context. This tool behaving as a CSCW has facilitated communication issues, the collaboration and the relationship of the parties.

The automotive industry has always been an example in the field of Project Management and Leadership and, of course, as far as quality is concerned. An established methodology is followed from product development through production. The aim of this investigation is to set up a relationship between the different stages of the Product Realization Process (PRP) and the most suitable quality tools for each of them, so that it can be a support to the organizations interested when it comes to choosing the most effective tools depending on the quality strategy they adopt. This paper: sets out the development of the main quality standards in the automotive sector; explains the most important characteristics of the PRP industry, obtaining a proposal of project management phases or stages; makes a classification of the main quality tools used based, on the one hand, on the extensive revision of specialized bibliography, and on the other hand, on the authors' experience; and finally uses a qualitative method of data collection in order to analyze the most adequate tools and to fit them in the different stages of the project.

In this study a team teaching approach was assumed as pedagogical principle for elaboration of the curricular proposal in Structural Engineering, gathering together the professionals and the different areas of the knowledge. The proposed collaboration model provides a viable way of enabling lecturers and students to carry out and to harvest the benefits of student-centered learning. For the curricular projects´ elaboration, multidisciplinary equipment was constituted, made-up of six lecturers of two diferent area of knowledge. The different roles of educators are deeply discussed, new applied methodologies and teaching techniques are introduced as well as a Project-Based Learning (PBL) model. The results obtained, as much in the teaching process like in the academic results will be presented. The encouraging results obtained in two years guarantee studies to longer term, which nowadays already is realized.

The aim of this paper is to research new thermally-efficient concrete walls, analyzing the mechanical behavior of a self-compacting concrete to manufacture an uncoated solid structural panel, with the incorporation of a micro-encapsulated phase change material as additive. Different dosages are tested and mechanical properties of the product obtained from the molding of concrete specimens are evaluated, testing mechanical compressive strength, slump flow, and density. The results reveal the optimum percentage of additive in the mixture that enables compliance with the technical specifications required by the product to be manufactured. A test is also performed for measuring the thermal conductivity for the optimal sample obtained and it evidences the reduction thereof.

The tools and work methodologies currently employed in the construction industry do not allow evolution to face up to market demands. There being, in addition, less time for project planning for which more detailed specifications are required and which strive for productive efficiency. In light of this, the development and application of production methods that favour multidisciplinary, integrated and collaborative work between the agents that compose the construction process is essential. BIM, Building Information Modelling, technology arises as an answer to the need to integrate all the agents that participate in the process during the different phases of the work. In the present article, a comparative study is carried out between two methods of construction project planning for the real case of a single-family house. This is done by means of the traditional process using computer aided representation, CAD, and a hypothetical integrated process of project planning supported using BIM. Thus, conclusions are extracted about the introduction of this technology, reflecting on the experience had. At the same time, recommendations are made for working with this methodology and possible future lines of action.

In order to analyses affection to thermal conductivity from various factors, such as: coarse aggregate, mortar ratio, sand ratio, water cement ratio, fly ash and air content, thermal conductivity of a series of concrete specimens were determined based on thermal conductivity meter. The results showed that: coarse aggregate, mortar ratio and gas content is the main factor affecting concrete thermal conductivity. Meanwhile, water-cement ratio, sand ratio and fly ash had few effects on the thermal conductivity. In addition, a certain formula to predict thermal conductivity of concrete was proposed.

A plant of water treatment consists of an installation in which the water is treated and submitted to diverse processes depending on the industrial use to which it is destined. In case of a plant of treatment of waters proceeding from the refrigeration of a constant train of lamination, the elimination and separation of oils, filtration, refrigeration or the thickened one and dehydrated of mires they are some of the processes to which these waters surrender. In the majority of these plants, a circuit is dedicated to the direct refrigeration (water circuit of contact) and other one to the indirect refrigeration (water circuit of not contact). As the water circuit of contact it takes pollutant materials that reduce the useful life of the equipments of the rolling mill the principal aims of the plant they will be to extract these pollutant materials and to reduce the temperature of the fluid that is re-circulated to the train. In order to design the process we use a series of pre-established technical requirements, such as, for example, the increase in temperature needed to cool the fluid, the speed, flow, and pressure at specific points and the different concentrations of materials permitted in the water. Beside fulfilling the above mentioned requirements, one tries to optimize the process applying the following criteria:-To re-circulate the whole of the wealth that flows for the lines.-To reduce the consumption of the water.-To improve to the maximum the quality of the water that is re-circulated to the train.-To reduce the costs of maintenance, project of installation and costs of equipments. Using this information we will determine a water treatment process and then design and dimension the civil works. The fluid conduits will be calculated, and the equipment for pumping, filtering, cooling, extracting solids and oils will be selected, along with the instrumentation needed to control the plant.

Geographic Information Systems (GISs) has been used for the register and management of geographic data, as well as for monitoring and analysis of environmental parameters. Hence, it is possible to employ GIS, based on spatial and statistical analysis, for the study of corrosion and its effect on systems such as electric power national system. In this work it is shown how, from discrete sampling of the different corrosive agents in strategic sites, it is possible to obtain trends for the spatial behavior of those variables, to finally generate maps which allow making assessments about life-in-service of materials in different zones of the country.
