My research relates to the intersections of disability, law and critical theory. My research is interdisciplinary, drawing on diverse theories (eg Foucaultian theory, critical legal and political theory and critical disability studies) and empirical research methods. I also make theoretically informed submissions to disability law reform projects.
My current research projects focus on two areas: (1) the treatment by criminal law of alleged offenders with disability, particularly in the context of diversion and indefinite detention, and (2) violence against women with disability, particularly in the contexts of sterilisation and policing.
My doctoral thesis completed at University of Sydney in 2014 was an interdisciplinary theoretical and empirical analysis of the diversion of individuals with cognitive impairment from the criminal justice system.
