However, issues on transaction management in mobile database still persist. This paper analyzes the existing models of transaction management in mobile databases and proposes a new model that deals transactions in two phases; one giving complete rights to mobile host for updating data and second, makes use of the computational capabilities of fourth generation mobile devices for databases manipulation irrespective of other networks issues like connectivity and network interoperability. The proposed model reduces transaction commit time by introducing cache at mobile end and treating disconnected mode similar to connecting mode. It further eliminates the short comings of the existing two tiers, IOT, kangaroo, planned disconnection mode and clustering schemes. Index Terms-distributed databases; mobile database systems (MDS); global system for Mobile Communication (GSM); dual phased transaction model Manuscript received March 20, 2011.

The sourcing of demand, supply and pricing data has been done from Australian ports, Sea-Intelligence maritime analysis and the Shanghai Freight Index (SCFI) respectively. Data-driven prediction have been realized by applying three different regression models that include support vector regression (SVR), random forest regression (RFR) and gradient booster regression (GBR) over the gathered datasets after initial feature engineering. A comparison of research outcomes shows that GBR outperforms all the other models by offering a test accuracy of 84%.

Various feature selection techniques have been proposed for successful anomaly detection. However, these methods do not cater for the need to select features in health assessment systems. Most of the present techniques are data dependent and do not offer an option for incorporating domain information. This paper proposes a novel domain knowledgedriven feature selection framework named domain-driven selective wrapping (DSW) that can help in the selection of a correlated feature subset. The proposed framework uses an expert's domain knowledge for the selection of subsets. The framework uses a custom-designed logic-driven anomaly detection block (LDAB) as a wrapper. The experiment results show that the proposed framework is able to select feature subsets more efficiently than traditional sequential selection methods and is very successful in detecting anomalies.

Traditionally, demand forecasting has been widely used in the management of production, staffing and warehousing for sales and marketing data. However, the use of demand forecasting has little been studied in the container shipping industry. Improved visibility into the demand for container shipments has been a long-held objective of industry stakeholders. This paper addresses the shortcomings of both short-term and long-term shipment demand forecasting for the Australian container shipping industry. In this study, we compare three forecasting models, namely, the seasonal auto-regressive integrated moving average (SARIMA), Holt–Winters’ seasonal method and Facebook’s Prophet, to find the best fitting model for short-term and long-term import demand forecasting in the Australian shipping industry. Demand data from three years, i.e., 2016–2018, is used for the ...

The paper provides reader with general understanding of fault tolerance and enlightens various software fault tolerance models for design faults. Component based recovery block (CBRB) divides systems into modules and check for their reliability separately but lacks to explain integration issues that can cause instability. The proposed model addresses this unattended issue of CBRB to enhance the reliability of software.
