Johan Beckmann

Johan Beckmann is a professor emeritus who specialized in education law, management, policy and leadership in the Faculty of Education the University of Pretoria. He retired officially at the end of June 2013 but has remained active as a part-time temporary professor at the University of Pretoria and as a research fellow at North-West University. From January 2020 you will be a research fellow at the University of the Free State. He has published nationally and internationally in journals, conference volumes and books and has supervised more than 50 postgraduate students. He is a National Research Foundation-rated Researcher and he has been active in the South African Education Law Association, the Inter-University Centre for Education Law and Policy, the Education Management Association of South Africa and the Education Association of South Africa. He received honorary medals for his contributions to education in general and to research in education in particular. He has edited and guest edited national and international journals and conference volumes. He also served as an adjunct professor at East China Normal University in Shanghai. He has also taught at the University of Jyväskylä in Finland's Institute of Educational Leadership.
