Early studies of visual attention noted a phenomenon termed 'inattention blindness'-the inability of participants to see clear stimuli enter the visual field when attending to something else in that fieldand sought to expand the understanding of the phenomenon (Neisser & Becklen, 1975; Simons & Chabris, 1999; Stoffregen, Baldwin, & Flynn, 1993). Other research has focused on the changes to the human brain and cognitive functions as a result of video game play, both in positive and negative contexts (Howard-Jones, Ott, van Leeuwen, and De Smedt (2010)). This quasi-experimental study sought to corroborate some of the findings that tie together these seemingly disparate lines of research, adapting the methodology of the most cited inattention blindness experiment (Simons & Chabris, 1999).

Introducción. La creatividad es la producción de los nuevos, originales, únicos, y divergentes productos e ideas mediadas a través del pensamiento lateral. Thus, STEM-related programs outside the urban areas of the state range from sparse to non-existent. • Within Nevada’s elementary schools, an average of only 15 percent of classroom time is dedicated to science instruction. • Mathematics, on the other hand, is a focus item due to the adoption of the Nevada Academic Content Standards for Mathematics.

Innovation is a term that has become widely used in education; especially as it pertains to technology infusion. Applying the corporate theory of diffusing innovation to educational practice is an innovation in itself. This mixed-methods study examined 38 teachers in a science educational gaming professional development program that provided baseline characteristics about personal technology use and post professional development workshop experiences to ascertain characteristics that align with diffusion of innovation theory and educational game development as a new innovation in current pedagogical practices.
