
Daria Perocco
Daria Perocco is professor of Italian Literature at the University of Venice-ca' Foscari. Her work focuses mainly on literary and cultural history of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, especially drama (Machiavelli), treatises (Bembo, Castelvetro, Amadi), travel literature (Viaggiare e raccontare. Narrazione di viaggio ed esperienza di racconto tra Cinque e Seicento, Alessandria: Edizioni dell’Orso, 1997; Marc’Antonio Pigafetta, Itinerario da Vienna a Costantinopoli, a cura di D. Perocco, Padova, Il Poligrafo, 2008), women's writing and narrative (Bandello, Straparola). She has published a book with the critical edition of the first sources of Romeo and Juliet (La prima Giulietta, Bari: Palomar, 2008) and edited previously unknown and unpublished Venetian texts dedicated to Venetian rowing races (Poesie per le regate, Venezia: Marsilio, 2006) and the first biography of Caterina Cornaro, queen of Cyprus (A.Colbertaldo, Storia di Caterina Corner regina di Cipro. La prima biografia, a cura di D. Perocco, Padova, Il Poligrafo, 2012).
She has participated to many conferences around the world (from the USA to New Zealand) and as taught, as a visiting professor, in European and American universities.
