Crisi politiche, disastri ecologici, complotti globali, scenari da fine del mondo. Ma qual \ue8 il confine tra pericoli attuali o futuri, narrazioni mediali e immaginario socioculturale? Cosa rende il catastrofismo cos\uec radicato nell\u2019immaginario collettivo, sin dai tempi antichi? Come si propaga nella societ\ue0 contemporanea e attraverso i media? Il volume rende conto di questo complesso intreccio simbolico e culturale, ponendo le basi per leggere analiticamente i discorsi contemporanei della e sulla catastrofe: mappandone le strutture e i temi comuni, ricordando le teorie matematico\u2013semiotiche che lo hanno utilizzato, indagando le dinamiche culturali e il concretizzarsi della catastrofe nelle immagini, e indagando le narrazioni e le esperienze percepite durante e in seguito a tali eventi, i resti culturali e concreti della loro influenza nella nostra cultura

However, these changes developed very unevenly all over Europe, differing not only between nation states, but also between regions and between the countryside and metropolitan areas. These developments were often observed critically by political and cultural elites, who warned of the corrosive effects of “mass culture.” Throughout Europe, censorship measures were implemented to save the population from the supposedly corrosive influence of popular entertainment.

This may seem paradoxical, since in our society technology is generally associated with cold and even impersonal rationality, whereas myths seem to deal more with dreams and emotional needs. On the one hand, by a generalised tendency to extend their fields of application far beyond their original scope; on the other hand, by the difficulty or even the impossibility to adapt them to the present technical order. Among the many paradoxes of the intellectual property one of the most striking lies in the fact that, even though designed to protect innovations and novelties the relevant laws were conceived of in the Renaissance years, and from then on have been constantly adapted by way of analogy, generating in this way privileges, special interests, further contradictions ever more difficult to reconcile. Intellectual property is one of the most significant political problems of modern information economy: it is highly dangerous to go on by way of analogies and adaptations, on the other hand one should not dream of a technically perfect solution...
