Dr Srete Nikolovski is a tenured full professor at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Osijek. He was born on October 1, 1954 in Belgrade. In 1978 he graduated from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Belgrade. Upon graduation he started to work as an electrical engineer in charge of maintenance of electrical equipment in the Borovo rubber and footwear factory, and then as a research and development engineer in the “Capital construction and maintenance” enterprise of the Borovo factory. During that period he got promoted two times and published several professional papers. In 1989 he received his MSc degree from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Belgrade.
In 1990 he started to work at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Osijek as a research assistant at the Department of Power Engineering teaching next the following courses: Electric power networks, Electric power system analysis, Generation, transmission and distribution of electrical energy, Transmission power lines, and Reliability assessment of power systems. On November 30, 1993 he successfully defended his doctoral dissertation at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, University of Zagreb. He was appointed assistant professor in 1996 and full professor in 2000.
Apart from participating in the science fair “INOVAa” with 2 innovations, he has published over 210 scientific and professional papers, and projects in domestic and international meetings (IPST, POWERTECH, ITI, EUROSIM, IEEE, EMTP, EMC, CIGRE, MELECOM, EEM, EEUG ATP-EMTP, EUROCON, MELECON, SST ), conferences and journals (Elektrotehnika, Energy, IJECE Journal of el. energy ).
During his work in the Department of Power Engineering he has published 5 course books: “Fundamentals of Power System Reliability Analysis”, “Software Packages for Power Systems Analysis and Simulation”, “Electric Power Networks 1“ (workbook), “Power System Protection”, “Introduction to Electricity Market”. He published over 200 scientific and professional papers in conferences and journals.
He is a member of the executive board of HRO CIGRE a member of the study committee SO C4, as well as a member of HDO-Croatian Maintenance Society of Slavonia and Baranya”. He is also an IEEE Senior member of the following societies: Power Engineering Society, Reliability Engineering Society and Electromagnetic Compatibility Society.

He was main researcher in the project “Functional Reliability and Availability of Distribution Networks” MZT 165001 Ministry of Science, Education and Sports. The aim of the project was mathematical modeling of network elements and algorithm development for the calculation of distribution network reliability.
He was a researcher in project “Exploitation of Technical Systems” supported by the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports. The principal investigator was dr. Franjo Jović.
He was the principal investigateur of the following research projects:
MZT no. 0165116 “Power System Reliability in Deregulated Electricity Market Conditions”,
MZOS no. 165-1651481-1482 entitled “Quality and Reliability of the Croatian Power System in the Regional Electricity Market”.

He was the coordinator in Croatia of EU TEMPUS project EMSA “Electricity Market Simulation and Analysis Curricula for Engineering Education”.
He was the coordinator of the EU ITEA 2 project ESNA “European Sensor Network Architecture”.

The article elaborates on the accuracy of current transformers (CT) in interaction with temperatu... more The article elaborates on the accuracy of current transformers (CT) in interaction with temperature and frequency using Pearson’s correlation. The first part of the analysis compares the accuracy of the mathematical model of the current transformer and the result of the measurement on the real CT using the Pearson correlation calculation. The mathematical model of CT is determined by deriving the formula of the functional error with the display of the accuracy of the measured value. The accuracy of the mathematical model is affected by the accuracy of current transformer model parameters and the calibration characteristic of the ammeter used to measure the CT current. Variables that cause deviation in the accuracy of CT are temperature and frequency. The calculation shows the effects on accuracy in both cases. This paper presents a new approach for the coordinated design of a power system stabilizer- (PSS-... more This paper presents a new approach for the coordinated design of a power system stabilizer- (PSS-) and static VAR compensator- (SVC-) based stabilizer. For this purpose, the design problem is considered as an optimization problem, while the decision variables are the controllers’ parameters. This paper proposes an effective optimization algorithm based on a rat swarm optimizer, namely, adaptive rat swarm optimization (ARSO), for solving complex optimization problems as well as coordinated design of controllers. In the proposed ARSO, instead of a random initial population, the algorithm starts the search process with fitter solutions using the concept of the opposite number. In addition, in each iteration of the optimization, the new algorithm replaces the worst solution with its opposite or a random part of the best solution to avoid getting trapped in local optima and increase the global search ability of the algorithm. Currently in Croatia there is only one Croatian Electricity Company (HEP), which is forced to change and survive in open European electricity market through reduced costs, maximized returns on investments and improved reliability and security of the existing power system. Power system reliability can be evaluated using analytical and simulation methods. This presentation uses Markov three-state models for generators (operational state, derated state and outage state) and two-state models for all other components of the power system. U radu je prikazana analiza pouzdanosti 110 kV postrojenja u H-shemi i to klasicnog postrojenja n... more U radu je prikazana analiza pouzdanosti 110 kV postrojenja u H-shemi i to klasicnog postrojenja na otvorenom i HIS (Highly Integrated Switchgear) visoko integriranog SF6 plinom izoliranog postrojenja. Uspoređeni su pokazatelji pouzdanosti oba postrojenja i nedvojbeno ukazali na visoku raspoloživosti HIS postrojenja. Za ulazne podatke se koristiti godisnje izvjesce HEP OPS d.d. i Statistika pogonskih događaja. Za ulazne podatke HIS postrojenja se koristila inozemna literatura jer u svijetu postoji veliki broj GIS i HIS postrojenja, za razliku od Hrvatske gdje ne postoji niti jedno (postoji jedno u BIH - Pec Mlini), te relevantna statisticka baza nije dostatna. U analizi pouzdanosti se koristi Markovljev matematicki model primarnih elemenata postrojenja i to sabirnica, transformatora, prekidaca, rastavljaca, kabelskih spojeva, SMT i NMT. The paper presents an example of modeling high-voltage line with classical columns and pillars co... more The paper presents an example of modeling high-voltage line with classical columns and pillars compacted with the same lines and testing out the model in the programming tool DIgSILENT with actual measured data for Single Line to Ground Fault with the use of ARs. The parameters of the classical and compacted 400 kV transmission line are entered into the model in the example of 400 kV line Tuzla 4 — Višegrad, and Single Line to Ground Fault was simulated and compared with the actual measured data. Afterwards, lines with classical columns and pillars compacted with the lines were compared and assessed if a readjustment of distance protection on the line is necessary. The SIEMENS numerical distance relay 7SA was used.

This paper presents a more accurate mathematical modeling of the nonequipotential large grounding... more This paper presents a more accurate mathematical modeling of the nonequipotential large grounding system at power frequency, which includes transversal mutual conductances between grounding segments as well as longitudinal mutual inductances. Numerical calculation of the grounding current field is based on the point collocation method with current density approximation by the second-degree polynomials and two-layer soil model. The method of images is used for solving the boundary value problem. . Using the direct solution of a system of linear equations (matrix inversion), unknown coefficients of the current density approximation along all grounding elements and unknown potential values at nodal and collocation points are obtained. Such accurate modeling enables more accurate computation of the grounding impedance, too. This procedure is applied in determining the inductance of the rectangular grids with uniform square meshes.
