Thus, while the market of the United States and other Anglo-Saxon countries liberal economy is just one of "variants of capitalism", there is the tendency to weaken the model of countries with "Coordinated Market Economy", as Germany and the Nordic countries (Bizberg, 2007). Also, not only globalization has brought great changes in the world economic, financial and political systems, but has also resulted in far-reaching education and in particular to higher education; this because as has been demonstrated in the markets, are an obligatory reference for the creation of the innovation, and particularly technology, which allows us to add value to the production. Therefore, Latin America and especially in Mexico must redefine the direction of higher education in order to improve it and parity with international standards on competitiveness.

Thus, the purpose of this study is to analyze the impact of destination personality and image on tourist behavior in Peru. This quantitative and cross-sectional analysis targeted 998 national tourists via a non-probabilistic convenience sampling. The study employed AMOS 24 statistical software for exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis. The results showed positive effects of social innovativeness (β = 0.374), performance (β = 0.404), and honesty (β = 0.191) on an affective image. Likewise, the study confirms the favorable effects of social innovativeness (β = 0.524), performance (β = 0.156), and honesty (β = 0.280) on a cognitive image. Furthermore, the effects of a cognitive image on the intention to revisit (β = –0.756) and intention to recommend (β = –0.756) are also measured. Mexican handicrafts contribute to 20.3% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the cultural sector, that is, 0.6% of the National GDP. This research is quantitative, descriptive, and transversal. The sample selection was made for convenience so certain criteria could be met. In total, 70 tourists were surveyed in the handicraft commerce area. For the data retrieval, an instrument with the "Sustainability SWOT" (sSWOT) was designed, which consists of eight dimensions (trends, environmental challenges, threats, opportunities, strengths, weaknesses, which to prioritize, and where to act). The instrument consists of 22 items with a single Likert scale ranging from 1 to 5 (1 = Null to 5 = Excellent). The study showed that 54.29% of the tourists who visit Chiapas perceive that handicrafts have a regular impact on the small producer's quality of life, while the remaining 45.71% point out that the impact is greater.

In response to this, the objective of this research work is to design and validate a scale to measure Brand Personality in Tourist Destinations (BPTD). The results were structured in three phases. In the first phase, an exhaustive search of the bibliography and first version of the instrument were generated. Moreover, a panel of 12 professionals between academics and managers was held, who evaluated the features and content validation by a panel of 7 experts. In the second phase, data collection was carried out with the participation of 998 tourists. In the third phase, exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis was carried out, obtaining a KMO of 0.979 and a p-value of 0.000. In addition, the findings support the positive effects of an affective image in intention to revisit (β = 1.549) and intention to recommend (β = 1.547); all results obtained a significance less than 0.05 (p < 0.001). This study concludes that brand personality is a valuable concept that can suggest strategies to improve the brand image, so the personality of tourist destinations should be congruent with the personality of tourists.

ABSTRACT Sustainable development implies an item is considered in all activities of the human being. Protecting the environment is a matter of concern, and we must be proactive. For this reason, there are many organizations agreeing to minimize environmental impact. Industry is an activity in which water and energy is consumed. Industrial companies are among the largest generators of air and water pollutants as well as greenhouse gases. CO2 emissions are one of the indicators that account for climate change. Furthermore, the impact on the planet is on many occasions greater than the benefit to our society. Therefore, the present research seeks to analyze the impact that consumption has had on Mexico, as an aspect to consider in the planning of sustainable development of the country. This research is descriptive with time series and cross-sectional data based on the comparative report World Commission on Environment and Development.
