Prior to becoming a language typologist, I worked with international standards for structuring information (ISO 8879 SGML) and organising knowledge (ISO 13250 Topic Maps), each for ten years, up until 2006. I had the pleasure of working closely with Dr. Charles F. Goldfarb, the inventor of SGML, and Dr. Steven R. Newcomb, the originator of Topic Maps.
But in 2007 I left the IT industry for Academia and within a year had finally decided what I wanted to be when I grew up: a linguist! I have since taken a BA in Linguistics at the University of Oslo, an MA in Language Documentation and Description at the School of Oriental and African Studies in London, and a second MA, on the topic of language transfer, at the University of Oslo.
In 2020 I defended my PhD with a dissertation entitled “The typology and semantics of binominal lexemes” which is available here on Academia.edu. Feel free to check it out!
