Virtual tour in the digital TV: Interactive presentation of remote locations using the 360° Google Street View´s immersion methodology

Briefly expounded the evolution of some issues necessary for the proper understanding of the project as: Virtual Tour, Google Street View, Tourism and Digital TV, drawing parallels and points of encounter between these social and cultural phenomena, and present a reflection on using conceptual image at the expense of its use as a visual representation only. This research was presented a possible adaptation to the Digital TV visitation to remote places through 360° panoramic tours. As validation of the hypothesis, an application was developed for Digital TV containing a virtual tour to a museum in the light of the methods used to develop virtual tours to the internet in order to demonstrate their use successfully in this new platform. As a complement, a WE...

3D in-world Telepresence With Camera-Tracked Gestural Interaction

Nor do they allow spatial or component-based interaction controlled by the presenter in a natural and intuitive manner, without needing to sit or stoop over a mouse or keyboard. A third feature that would be very useful is to mirror the presenter's gestures and actions so that the presenter does not have to try to face both audience and screen. To meet these demands we developed a prototype camera-tracking application using a Kinect camera sensor and multi-camera Unity windows for teleconferencing that required the presentation of interactive 3D content along with the speaker (or an avatar that mirrored the gestures of the speaker). Cheaply available commercial software and hardware but coupled ...

Nowadays, story choreographies are linked to either game technology, simulations or interactive animations for which they have been implemented, so they become unavailable as these platforms become obsolete. This limits their reuse, because to perpetuate these digital stories requires new and repeated efforts and investments in its recreation for new technological platforms that appear in substitution of the previous ones. We propose a methodology to safeguard the semantics of this "narrative choreographies" in an independent way, allowing them to be automatically adapted to new technological platforms when the original ones become obsolete.

Castelo de Vide, 1521. Potencialidades e usos das ferramentas digitais para a análise e divulgação do património histórico urbano no âmbito do projeto FRONTOWNS, 2024

progress thanks to multidisciplinary approaches and new technologies. This context
allowed for innovative proposals to study and disseminate the cities, especially
digital reconstructions and animations of urban centres. A specific focus of the
FRONTOWNS project was the 3D reconstruction of the town of Castelo de Vide
(Alentejo, Portugal) in the Middle Ages, combining documentary, cartographic,
archaeological and architectural data. The creation of this digital model is making
it possible to study and disseminate the medieval town in an innovative way,
showing the potential of these tools to understand the interactions and fluxes
between medieval urban centres. The preliminary results also provide a reflection
on methodologies and good practices in the development of digital reconstructions
and the challenges faced.
