Los resultados revelan no solo las fluctuaciones de uso que experimentaron a lo largo del tiempo, sino también la preferencia por una u otra estructura en determinados contextos sintácticos. Un análisis de este tipo puede, además, ofrecer información interesante a la hora de dilucidar la prioridad histórica entre el gerundivo y el gerundio.
Abstract: In order to better understand the syntactic behaviour of the Latin Gerundive and Gerund, we propose a diachronic analysis of their distribution based on a corpus which includes several authors from Plautus to Sulpicius Severus. The results reveal not only fluctuations in usage over time, but also the preference for one of these structures in certain syntactic contexts. An analysis of such kind may also offer interesting information regarding their historical priority.

conceptual metaphors. The study of inchoative collocations formed with three Latin
nouns (bellum, proelium and pugna) has revealed the recurring use of collocates belonging
to certain semantic classes (e.g., those originally meaning «to seize») which
acquire an inchoative metaphorical value when combined with these bases. Behind
these collocations lie metaphorical patterns which make it possible to conceptualise
the onset of an event by means of concrete notions related to the embodied experience
of reality. The analysis of these metaphors allows to establish patterns in the type
of collocate to be expected in inchoative collocations, which may in turn help reduce
the degree of unpredictability of these formations.

A partir de un corpus de estudio que comprende autores entre los siglos II a.C. - IV d.C., se atenderá a la variación diacrónica de sus frecuencias de empleo y a la especialización de cada construcción en determinados contextos. El apartado final del trabajo establece una discusión sobre la evolución de la frecuencia del gerundio con objeto.
This paper analyses the conditions for syntactic alternation between the Latin gerundive and gerund with object constructions. Based on data from a corpus of texts comprising several authors between the second century BC and the fourth century AD, this analysis focuses on the diachronic variation in their frequency and on the preference for one of these constructions in specific contexts. The final section of the paper brings into discussion the evolution of the frequency of the gerund with object construction.

It is based on a 2-layer stand-off markup depending on the linguistic unit to be analyzed.
At the word level (§ I) the words of a text are tokenized. Each of these forms is assigned a unique identification. In addition, its morphological information is detailed: the lemma to which it belongs and its morphological characteristics in a ten-position alphanumeric code.
At the predicative level (§ II), of greater complexity, texts are divided into sentences which group all the forms comprised between strong punctuation. Between sentences and words, an intermediate unit of analysis is considered, clauses, understood as structures formed by a verb and its complements. Every sentence can be composed of one (simple sentences) or several clauses (complex sentences).
Clauses are the basic and fundamental unit of linguistic analysis in the theoretical framework underlying the model presented here. It is important to note the semantic and lexical characteristics of the predications themselves and their components, as well as the syntactic and semantic relations established not only between their elements, but also between the clauses themselves in complex sentences.
