In the dilemma zone, there is a decision to go through the intersection at the risk or a decision to stop suddenly. The longer the dilemma zone, the higher the risk that the driver will pass through the intersection. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to present a comparison of visual observation data between car and motorcycle regarding the length of dilemma zone for 3 seconds yellow interval at the 3-arm signalized intersection. The length of dilemma zone for car is longer than motorcycle in peak-hour (by about 100%) and this can be found that the acceleration/ deceleration time for cars are slower than motorcycles. Other result shows that the length of dilemma zone for cars has significant different in off-peak hours and peak hours.

Driven pile foundation work has a series of processes that are quite dangerous if not executed properly due complicated work process. This study aims to identify hazards and provide efforts to control hazards using the HIRARC method. Based on the results of the study, 42 potential hazards were identified, with 21 possible hazards at a low level, and 21 possible hazards at a moderate level. Risk controls are carried out by checking the equipment before use, checking the feasibility of SIA and SIO to ensure operator competence, clearing the work area from unauthorized workers other than the operator of heavy equipment and helper(s), providing barricades and warning signs in the work area, using essential PPE and additional PPE, and good coordination and communication with all workers involved in driven pile foundation work. Several suggestions are everyone that is in charge of work must be firm in penalties, all work tools must be checked carefully and periodically, and PPE providers must provide essential and additional PPE for specialized jobs. For future research we can suggest continue discussion regarding the operational control, cost budget plan, and evaluation and review of SHE performance.

The flow of heavy traffic on every arm, causes congestion and a high degree of saturation at every rush hour in the morning and afternoon at this unsignalized roundabout. The calculation of the roundabout capacity is regulated in the Indonesia Road Capacity Manual (IHCM) 1997. Observation data in the form of geometric conditions, traffic volume and environmental conditions in the calculation. The performance of the Kelapa Gading roundabout can be categorized as not good the degree of saturation (DS) can come up more than 0.75. Simulation was carried out on Vissim to sustainable traffic management solution and decrease the DS for driver convenience.

Superstructure work of the toll flyover construction is one of the works that have a high level o... more Superstructure work of the toll flyover construction is one of the works that have a high level of risk, especially when the erection girder work passes over the existing toll road. This study aims to identify hazards on erection girder work using the HIRARC and HAZOP methods. Using these two methods requires the implementation of questionnaire and surveying, using at least 30 respondents with 34 respondents is successfully gathered. The results showed that there were 36 possible hazards where 11 hazards were identified as moderate risk and 25 hazards identified as low risk. Then an interview was conducted with occupational health and safety (OHS) experts on site to validate the results of this research. Efforts are being made to carry out inspections of heavy equipment before use, only operators who have SIO that are appropriate and competent to do, conduct toolbox meetings, install warning signs, use PPE, and coordinate and cooperate with existing toll owners.

Los Angeles (LA) Abrasion test is one of the standard requirements to assess the quality of aggre... more Los Angeles (LA) Abrasion test is one of the standard requirements to assess the quality of aggregates used as pavement layers. However, this test is a dry test and does not assess the performance of aggregates when they are wet. In tropical countries, including Indonesia, moisture on aggregates is an important issue as it might introduce problems to the pavement layers during and after the construction process. This research aims to investigate the capability of the LA Abrasion test to assess the moisture susceptibility of aggregates by altering the test procedure. In this research, the LA Abrasion test procedure was modified to test wet aggregates and the results were compared to the original LA Abrasion test. There are three different types of aggregates were tested herein, namely igneous, sedimentary, and coral aggregates. Additionally, the various percentage of clay was also added to cover the aggregates. From the preliminary results, it was found that the LA Abrasion test can be modified to detect the moisture susceptibility of aggregates. Different aggregates have different water absorption levels, and hence, affect the final result (percentage of material loss). Adding clay to the aggregates also affected the results.

Ravelling, rutting, and potholes are one the pavement failures that are commonly found and those failures are related to the intrusion of moisture onto the asphaltic mixture. This research aims to study the usage of hydrated lime as an additive to improve the moisture susceptibility of the asphaltic mixture. There were two different natural aggregates used in this research project and the prepared specimens were tested by Marshall, Cantabro Loss, and Indirect Tensile Strength tests. From the research results, it was found that hydrated lime was effective in not only improving the moisture susceptibility of the asphaltic mixture, but also increasing the stability and making the asphalt specimens denser. It was also found that it is critical to choose the suitable aggregate to be used in the asphaltic mixture as it can significantly affect the quality of the asphalt specimens.

The impact of this project during construction makes the road narrowing and causes longer queue length and delay of Harmoni Intersection, and vehicle travel time passes the site of construction. This research aims to determine traffic management and modeling using VISSIM, Indonesian Highway Capacity Manual (MKJI) 1997, and Indonesian Highway Capacity Guidance (PKJI) 2014 on Harmony Central. The value of queue length, delay, and travel time obtained from the existing condition will be used to estimate the traffic performance during construction. The increased queue length, delay, and travel time along the construction site will cause congestion to the previous intersection. The diversion plan needs to be done before the vehicle meets the busway flow that will be diverted caused by the relocation of the terminal to reduce the density of vehicles going into the Signalized Intersection Harmoni.

Peningkatan ini mengakibatkan menurunnya kapasitas simpang. Penelitian ini mengambil contoh persimpangan Lebak Bulus untuk dilihat kapasitas simpangnya dan dianalisa bagaimana kapasitas tersebut bisa ditingkatkan dengan alternati-alternatif perbaikan yang ditawarkan. Hasil derajat kejenuhan eksisting adalah 0,91. Nilai derajat kejenuhan pada alternatif pelebaran lajur masuk sebesar 0,81, alternatif pelebaran jalan sebesar 0,82, alternatif pelebaran lajur masuk dan pelebaran jalan sebesar 0,77, alternatif perubahan fase sebesar 0,92, dan alternatif perubahan arus kendaraan sebesar 0,81. Alternatif yang memiliki nilai derajat kejenuhan terendah adalah alternatif pelebaran lajur masuk dan pelebaran jalan.

Rigid pavement is considered more powerful than the flexible pavement. In other words, rigid pavement is expected to have a longer service life and minimal maintenance. The construction cost for rigid pavement is more expensive compared to flexible pavement. While the need for rigid pavement maintenance is cheaper than for flexible pavement. Seen from investment point of view, rigid pavement is more profitable than flexible pavement, because the annual fee required for rigid pavement is less. Due to the comparations, an analysis is performed in this study to select which type of pavement is best used in the future.

For example, in Jakarta, Indonesia, in some roadway, motorcycle is the most dominant vehicle, with total volume is four times higher than a passenger car. Thus, the traffic characteristic in motorcycle-dominated traffic differs from a common traffic situation. The purpose of this study is to apply the concept and theory developed to analyze motorcycle behaviour under motorcycle-dominated traffic condition. The survey is applied by recording the traffic flow movement of research location at specified time period. The macroscopic characteristic analyzed in this research is a speed-flow relationship based on motorcycle equivalent unit (MCU). Furthermore, a detail microscopic characteristic analyzed that is motorcycle time headway regarding traffic flow. MCU values computed were consists of motorcycle (MC), light vehicle (LV) and heavy vehicle (HV). Those values were calculated 1.00, 6.13 and 10.71 respectively. The speed and volume relationship result is showing a linear regression model with R2 value is 0.58, it can be explained that the correlation between two variables is intermediate. The headway distribution of motorcycle is compatible with the negative exponential distribution which fitted with the proposed theory for a small vehicle such as a motorcycle.

The method used in this research including calculation of vehicles operating costs, Likert method, and distribution frequency. The results in summary is VOC of the type of Zhongtong LCK6180GC is smaller than Scania K3201A. Passengers' satisfaction of Zhongtong LCK6180GC is lower then Scania K3201A but Zhongtong LCK6180GC gives more benefits for PT. Transportation Jakarta compare to Scania K3201A

Pedestrians can cross the road safely if suitable facilities are provided for traffic conditions.... more Pedestrians can cross the road safely if suitable facilities are provided for traffic conditions. The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics of pedestrians at zebra crossing facilities and choose alternative crossing facilities to confirm the safety and environmentally friendly of pedestrian and crossing facilities. Based on the analysis, men crossed faster than women, men’s speed was 1.28 m/sec and women’s speed was 1.20 m/sec. The individual crossing speed is faster than the platoon, the individual speed is 1.23 m/s and the platoon speed is 1.18 m/s. From the survey results, the pelican cross crossing is more recommended for these conditions, the travel time for pedestrians with a zebra cross is 17 seconds and after simulating the travel time with a pelican crossing 10 seconds. This scenario can reduce the travel time for pedestrians to reach their destination by 7 seconds, therefore the Pelican crossing facility can be used as an alternative facility.

One of the pavement performance parameters that can be determined objectively is the International Roughness Index (IRI). This research uses a relatively new technology to measure IRI value named the Roadroid, which is an android application developed from a Sweden company. Roadroid uses a built-in vibration sensor on a smart phone which is placed on the vehicle and produces output value in the form of IRI and speed values. Roadroid application obtained output data based IRI value and speed value with high accurately because used real-time data with each vehicle type which get through each road surface condition.
