Pooya Khan Mohammad Beigi, MD, MSc, MPH is a Dermatologist, Dermatology Surgeon and the Founder/President of the MARI (Misdiagnosis Association and Research Institute) and Mismedicine Organization and Research Institute, (Beverley Hills, California, USA.)

He is also a Clinical Research Fellow at the University of British Columbia (Vancouver, BC, Canada) since 2010 and the President/Owner of the NWM Medical Clinic (Canada). and the Founder/CEO of Father Medical Charity (Vancouver, BC, Canada), which were established in 2012 and 2011, respectively.

Dr. Beigi established MARI in 2012, as the first comprehensive academic research organization specifically focused on misdiagnosis, malpractice, error in treatment and overall error in healthcare and medicine. “MARI” is the first and leading non-profit organization with the aim of collecting and preparing the most comprehensive databases of misdiagnosis and error- in- medicine cases and conducting related medical research studies, in collaboration with healthcare organizations, universities, clinics, professors and physicians from all around the world.

Also, he founded Father Medical Charity with the goal of helping patients in need, especially those in underdeveloped countries. This Charity collaborates with many physicians and nurses employed in underdeveloped countries, who identify patients in need and then refer them to this medical charity to facilitate further communication with the respective healthcare professionals for patients to undergo diagnosis and obtain receive the necessary medications for their treatment. or facilitate treatments for them.

He is the author of several books in the medical field including Acrodermatitis Enteropathica: A Clinician's Guide (2015), A Clinician's Guide to Mycosis Fungoides (2016), A Clinician's Guide to Pemphigus Vulgaris (2016) and A Clinician's Guide to Psoriasis (2017).

Background: Medication errors have been shown to occur 4 times more often in the community compar... more Background: Medication errors have been shown to occur 4 times more often in the community compared to the hospital setting. Therefore, identifying the patient-related factors within the community that contribute to an increased occurrence of medication errors is required. Objective: To assess patients' knowledge and understanding of their medications in order to determine risk for medication errors. Methods: This quantitative descriptive study used a convenience sample of participants filling their prescriptions at one independent pharmacy in Canada. The study used descriptive statistics including frequencies and correlations. Further multiple regressions were conducted to explore the relationship between the patient factors and medication knowledge and use. Results: A total of 33.5% of respondents indicated that they know what medication they are currently taking, and that they know why they taking their current medications. Decreased knowledge of medication taken was significantly associated with likelihood of a medication error by 3.6 times (P = .048). Increased age (P = .01) and the death of a spouse (P = .01) correspond to a decreased knowledge of medications. Those with less education appeared to have decreased understanding as to why they are taking their medications (P = .01). The odds of experiencing a medication error increased with multiple medications. Also, changes in medication dose increased the probability of experiencing a medication error by 2.2 times. This study however had a small sample size. Conclusions: With identification and understanding of patient factors that influence the incidence of medication error, we can increase awareness and determine solutions to decrease risk of medication error in clinical practice.

Materials and methods: Materials and methods: Materials and methods: Materials and methods: This study was conducted on 201 infertile Iranian women referred to the Vali-e-Asr Reproductive health Research Center, and completed the following questionnaires: The fertility problem inventory, measuring perceived infertility related stress (Newton CR, 1999), big five factor personality questionnaire (Farahani, 2009), multidimensional scale of perceived social support MSPS (Zimmet 1988), and multidimensional assessment of coping .The results were then analyzed using the Pearson Correlation and stepwise regression. Results: Results: Results: Results: Infertility stress has negative and significant relation with emotion-oriented coping method, perceived social support and bring extrovert. It has a positive, significant relation with emotion-oriented coping method, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). The results of the stepwise regression showed that emotion-oriented coping method, OCD and being extrovert are suitable predictors of infertility stress. Conclusion: About 22% of the infertility stress variance was explained by coping strategies and personality trait. Therefore our result demonstrates the importance of social and psychological factors on experiencing the infertility stress.
